Capello Argues ‘Camarda Should've Stayed At AC Milan, Pio Esposito Could Use Another Loan From Inter Milan'

Yahooa day ago
Fabio Capello believes Francesco Camarda should've stayed at AC Milan, and that Francesco Pio Esposito could use another loan.
The former Rossoneri coach gave his thoughts in today's print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
This coming season will see two young strikers from Milan starring in Serie A.
Inter Milan have decided to bring Francesco Pio Esposito into their first team. This comes after two successful loan spells at Spezia.
Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri's city rivals have loaned teenage striker Francesco Camarda to Lecce.
Camarda has had a few notable appearances for the Rossoneri first team. However, the move to Lecce will give the 17-year-old an opportunity to play more regularly.
However, former Milan coach Capello has his own views on the development of Camarda and Pio Esposito.
Capello: 'Camarda Should've Stayed At AC Milan, Pio Esposito Could Use Another Loan'
SEATTLE, WASHINGTON – JUNE 24: Francesco Pio Esposito of FC Internazionale faces the media during the Training/Press Conference ahead of their FIFA Club World Cup 2025 match between FC Internazionale Milano and CA River Plate at Virginia Mason Athletic Center on June 24, 2025 in Seattle, Washington. Capello argued that 'Francesco Camarda is ready.'
'If you have a young talent like that you should keep him and let him play,' he continued.
'He should've stayed with the Rossoneri. Especially since Milan are only playing in the league.'
Capello anoted that Camarda 'has already passed the San Siro test with flying colours.'
'He could have played consistently at Milan, too. They're looking for a centre-forward now.'
Meanwhile, Capello gave his thoughts on Inter striker Francesco Pio Esposito. 'Pio performed well at the Club World Cup,' he said.
'But he hasn't passed the San Siro test yet,' Capello said.
'It's true that Inter are playing on several fronts and Milan are just playing in the league, but if Chivu believes Ademola Lookman is more ready and tactically suited to the project, Pio Esposito could use another year on loan.'
'These are assessment the coach and management have to make on a case-by-case basis,' Capello argued.

Ben Johnson wants Bears to remain physical without fighting

There has been plenty of physical play within the Chicago Bears throughout the early portion of training camp, especially this past Tuesday when several skirmishes broke out between the offense and defense. While the intensity and excitement around the practice was celebrated, head coach Ben Johnson wasn't thrilled about the fighting that took place, but hopes there's a valuable lesson for the regular season. Speaking to the media ahead of the team's joint practice against the Miami Dolphins on Friday, Johnson said the intensity the team showed will be the norm, and as long as they cut out the fighting, that's what others should expect from the team. Physical play and intensity were two traits clearly missing from the team last season, but Johnson is hoping to change the team's demeanor and image for this upcoming season, his first year with the team. "Take the skirmishes out of the play, that's what we're going to be about," Johnson said. As much as Johnson would like to keep the fighting to a minimum, that wasn't the case for their first interactions with Miami, as multiple fights broke out in the first joint practice that included Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel breaking one up. The Bears are clearly trying to change their image from last year and put together a much more physical and intense team overall, especially on defense. If they can become disciplined before the start of the regular season, Chicago will be a fun watch throughout the year. Ex-Rangers trialist scores for Arsenal academy vs Monaco

The Arsenal u21s secured an away win over Monaco to end their pre-season preparations, with a former Rangers trialist getting on the scoresheet. Photo via The Arsenal u21s have had a difficult pre-season so far, partly thanks to the absence of some talented youngsters like Max Dowman, Marli Salmon, Josh Nichols, Ismeal Kabia, and Andre Harriman-Annous due to first-team call-ups. Up until this weekend, the young Gunners had drawn one and lost four of their pre-season games, only scoring five goals across the five games. But the team was much closer to full strength away to AS Monaco II on Saturday, with Tommy Setford in goal, Nichols and Salmon in defence, and Kabia and Harriman-Annous in the front three. None of the five had featured in the previous game against Chelmsford City. Photo byArsenal clearly benefitted from the changes, with Kabia giving the team the lead in the 40th minute, and Setford maintaining a clean sheet at the other end. But it was actually a trialist who secured the victory by doubling Arsenal's advantage late on. Free agent former Rangers winger Archie Stevens was making his second trial appearance for the Gunners, and in the 93rd minute he found space in the box before slotting home for 2-0. Stevens has played senior football before, making one appearance for Rangers and playing 11 times on loan with Scottish second tier club Dunfermline Athletic in 2024/25. It looks like he could now get the chance to play for the Arsenal academy on a more permanent basis, if he keeps impressing. Photo byThe Arsenal u21s recently learned their Premier League 2 fixtures list for the coming campaign, kicking things off with a game against Fulham at home on Friday, August 15th. The team will also play Nottingham Forest away and Brighton at home later this month. The first big derby game is away to Chelsea on October 25th, but there will be no regular season north London derby this season. Photo via Dowman on Instagram The current Premier League 2 format involves 29 teams playing a 20-game regular season, so you don't face eight teams until the play-offs, if at all. This year, Arsenal won't face Aston Villa, Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers, Manchester City, Manchester United, Middlesbrough, Stoke City, or Spurs in the regular season. But they could still meet some of the above in the play-offs or in other competitions. As for who might be in charge of the team when the competitive campaign gets underway, that much is still unclear. Jack Wilshere is reportedly in the running to return to the club as their u21 manager, but Max Porter and Ken Gillard have taken joint charge of the team on an interim basis for now.
