South Florida gets break from wet weather, heat and humidity return

After days of downpours, South Florida is finally enjoying a break from the wet weather. Thursday will be mainly dry with only a 10% chance of rain. Saharan dust is bringing drier air and lowering the chance of rain, it's also leading to some hazy conditions. The air quality will be lower due to the dust and anyone with respiratory conditions should try and limit their time outside. "Feels like" temps in the afternoon approach triple digits. NEXT Weather The rain has moved out and now the heat and humidity are back. It was a warm start to Thursday with temperatures in the low to mid 80s. Afternoon highs will rise to the upper 80s with filtered sunshine. It will feel like the upper 90s and the 100s when the humidity is factored in. There is a high risk of rip currents along the Atlantic beaches. Small craft should exercise caution over the Atlantic waters, however, there are no alerts or advisories for boaters in the Florida Keys. Chance of rain slowly increases over weekend and early next week. NEXT Weather On Friday, spotty showers will be possible but the chance of rain remains low. Highs will rise to around 90 degrees and it will feel like the upper 90s and 100s. The weekend will be a scorcher with highs soaring to the low 90s and heat indices in the triple-digits. Spotty afternoon storms will be possible. The chance of rain rises early to middle of next week with more showers and storms expected due to more moisture around.

Pinpoint Weather: Showers return, late-week storms possible

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — A low-pressure system will move through the Carolinas, bringing more clouds and a few rain showers to Southwest and Central Virginia on Thursday. The region can expect mostly to partly cloudy skies on Thursday. Widely-scattered rain showers are possible, more so along and east of the Blue Ridge; however, not everyone will see rain. Rumbles of thunder are possible, but severe weather is not anticipated. Due to the additional cloud cover, temperatures won't be as warm. Highs will range from the mid-70s into the lower 80s. A frontal system will approach the region toward the end of the week. Isolated showers and storms are possible Friday afternoon and evening, with the best chance along and west of the Blue Ridge. A few storms may pack a punch, capable of producing gusty winds and hail. Temperatures will rise into the 80s under a mix of sun and clouds. Rain coverage will increase on Saturday as the front draws closer; scattered showers and storms will be possible area-wide. Isolated strong to severe storms may produce strong winds and hail, so stay weather-aware. Highs will be in the upper 70s and 80s. Partly cloudy skies will be overhead. Showers and thunderstorms remain possible into Sunday. When it's not raining, skies will be variably cloudy. Temperatures will warm up into the upper 70s and lower/middle 80s. Daily rain chances will linger into the upcoming week. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

Weather forecast: Isolated storms get going this afternoon

ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) – If you did not like the upper 80s Wednesday, you are in luck. Temperatures are down today as a cold front moves through the region. We are starting warm, in the 60s. Expect clouds to increase from west to east as the boundary approaches. There could be a very isolated shower possible this morning, but most are dry. There will be a better chance for showers and thunderstorms tonight. Those storms could be strong, but know that the location will be important. The boundary will be south of the thruway by this point, so that is where the focus will be for any storms. The boundary lingers into Friday and there could be a few isolated showers along this line, but most are dry. I do expect a few showers and storms to get going again in the afternoon. Those will likely brush Rochester. The boundary is working further east Saturday, so the weekend is trending dry. Temperatures are down a bit, with highs in the lower 70s.
