Cricket
in India's (

) Centre of Excellence (CoE) has introduced a Level '0' e-learning course for differently-abled former cricketers, both men and women.
TOI has learnt that in a letter to the Differently Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI) general secretary Ravi Chauhan, VVS Laxman, India's batting great and currently the head of cricket of BCCI's CoE, informed that the BCCI was starting a Level '0' e-learning course for coaches from the DCCI.
This coaching course will be conducted online, and after its completion, candidates can qualify for the BCCI CoE Level 1 coach certification program.
Laxman asked Chauhan to nominate 50 candidates from around the country for the coaching program.
'This is a golden opportunity for our cricketers to enhance their coaching skills and qualifications. Like able-bodied former cricketers, our differently-abled former cricketers will also now enjoy the benefits of completing a BCCI-certified coaching course. I'm glad that the differently-abled cricketers of India are getting due recognition by the BCCI.
Our aim is to ensure that all differently-abled former cricketers can undertake this course if they wish to enhance their coaching skills and qualifications,' Differently Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI) general secretary Ravi Chauhan told TOI on Wednesday.

Rishabh Pant ruled out of 5th IND vs ENG Test at the Oval due to fractured foot

Swashbuckling India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was on Sunday ruled out of the fifth and final Test at the Oval due to the injury he suffered in Manchester earlier in the week. N Jagadeesan was named as his replacement. This comes after India kept the series alive after tons from Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar guided the visitors to a draw in the 4th Test. 'Rishabh Pant ruled out of fifth Test due to injury; N Jagadeesan named replacement,' the BCCI said in an X post on Sunday. 'Rishabh Pant, who sustained a fracture to his right foot during the fourth Test against England in Manchester, has been ruled out of the fifth and final Test of the series. The BCCI Medical Team will continue to monitor his progress and the team wishes him a speedy recovery. The Men's Selection Committee has named Narayan Jagadeesan as replacement for Rishabh Pant for the fifth Test, which begins on July 31, 2025 at Kennington Oval, London,' a statement from the board read. 🚨 𝗦𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗱 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 🚨 Rishabh Pant ruled out of fifth Test due to injury; N Jagadeesan named replacement. All The Details 🔽 #TeamIndia | #ENGvIND — BCCI (@BCCI) July 27, 2025 Pant fractured his toe while attempting a reverse sweep on Day 1, which led to him having to retire hurt. He then remarkably continued his innings while batting almost on one foot and scored 54 in 75 balls. Pant was advised six weeks of rest and was expected to not travel to the ground on Day 2. However, he was eventually spotted in the dressing room in full gear and he then hobbled out after Shardul Thakur was dismissed shortly before Lunch. On Day 5, the keeper wasn't required to bat due to Jadeja and Sundar's gritty knocks which ended the 4th Test in a stalemate. Jadeja, Sundar and Shubman Gill struck fine hundreds as India secured the morale-boosting draw. The stalemate was achieved after Gill (103), Rahul (90), Jadeja (107 not out), and Washington (101 not out) fired with the bat on a fifth day pitch after India started their second innings 311 runs in arrears. England lead the series 2-1 heading into the fifth and final Test. For skipper Gill, this was his fourth century of the ongoing rubber as he became the first Asian batter to cross 700 runs in a Test series in England. Earlier in the day, opener Rahul was dismissed by Ben Stokes for a doughty 90, ending a 188-run partnership for the third wicket with Gill. Resuming the day on 174 for two and with a deficit of 137 runs, overnight batter Gill completed his hundred before falling to Jofra Archer just before lunch at Old Trafford.

Rishabh Pant Ruled Out of 5th Test Against England Due To Injury, To Be Replaced By...

Indian cricket team wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant was ruled out of the fifth Test encounter against England due to injury. BCCI announced on Sunday that Pant will not be playing the final match of the Test series at The Oval. Pant suffered a fractured toe during the fourth Test match after getting hit by a ball from Chris Woakes. Although Pant did bat even after the injury, he did not keep wickets and Dhruv Jurel was his substitute. Pant will be replaced by N Jagadeesan in the Indian cricket team squad. "Rishabh Pant, who sustained a fracture to his right foot during the fourth Test against England in Manchester, has been ruled out of the fifth and final Test of the series," the BCCI said in a press release. The 27-year-old Pant retired hurt on 37 on the opening day of the Test in Manchester and went for scans after taking a blow to his right foot while attempting a reverse sweep off England pacer Chris Woakes. He, however, returned to bat after the fall of Shardul Thakur's wicket with India at 314/6 and went on to score an audacious fifty. "The BCCI Medical Team will continue to monitor his progress and the team wishes him a speedy recovery," BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said in the release. Head coach Gautam Gambhir praised Pant after India played out a draw in the fourth Test. 'Rishabh Pant is out of the series. Any amount of praise is not enough for him, to bat with a broken foot. Not many people have done that in the past. That is why generations should talk about it, and future generations should also talk about it. It's unfortunate because of the kind of form he was in. I hope he recovers and comes back quickly. He is a very important member of the Test side,' said Gambhir in the post-game conference. India's updated squad for fifth Test: Shubman Gill (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Kuldeep Yadav, Anshul Kamboj, Arshdeep Singh, N Jagadeesan (WK).

(AP Photo/Jon Super) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday shared an update on Rishabh Pant and also revealed the squad for the fifth and final Test between England and India, scheduled to be played at The Oval. Tamil Nadu batter Narayan Jagadeesan has been announced as Pant's replacement. "The Men's Selection Committee has named Narayan Jagadeesan as the replacement for Rishabh Pant for the fifth Test, which begins on July 31, 2025, at Kennington Oval, London." India coach Gautam Gambhir confirmed Pant's injury for the first time after the visitors salvaged a draw in the fourth Test at Old Trafford on Sunday. Pant retired hurt on Day 1 when he was taken off the field on a cart with his foot badly swollen, but he returned—limping—on Day 2 to reach a half-century. Gautam Gambhir fiery press conference: Slams critics, big update on Jasprit Bumrah, Karun vs Sai 'It's been declared that he's out of the series, and one thing I want to say is that the character and the foundation of this team will be built on something Rishabh did for the team and for the country as well,' Gambhir said. 'Any amount of praise is not enough for him, especially for batting with a broken foot. 'I think the generations to come will talk about it, and the generations coming forward should talk about it.' Pant was injured while attempting a reverse sweep off Chris Woakes, and the ball deflected onto his right ankle and foot. India did not confirm the extent of the injury at the time, but he was replaced as wicketkeeper by Dhruv Jurel for the remainder of the match.
