King Visits Johor Royal Botanical Garden
JOHOR BAHRU, July 18 (Bernama) -- His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, today visited the Johor Royal Botanical Garden here.
The visit was shared in a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar's Facebook page.
Located within the grounds of the Johor Grand Palace, the Royal Botanical Garden functions as a botanical gallery, housing a wide collection of selected plant species from the state and beyond.
The Johor government aims to make the garden a must-visit destination in conjunction with Visit Johor Year 2026.
According to the post, Sultan Ibrahim also walked 3.2 kilometres around the palace grounds to take in the surroundings, accompanied by Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Onn Hafiz Ghazi and Comptroller of the Royal Household of Istana Negara Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani.

Yusuf Islam, the British musician formerly known as Cat Stevens and Dr Shaykha Haifaa Younis, an American Board Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist who is also a prominent Islamic scholar, were also present. On Gaza, Anwar said the world must not forget the pain and suffering endured by the Palestinian people amid the ongoing war in Gaza. Meanwhile, Haifaa also shared her Gaza journey where the place transformed her into a more spiritual person and left an unshakable imprint on her heart. 'The ummah (the Muslim community) is going through a tough time. Gaza is bleeding. It hurts deeply when I raise my hands to Allah, I know everyone is doing their best, but still I ask, what more can we do.

Nurul Izzah Pays Tribute To Bangladesh's July Revolution At Dhaka Conference
WORLD NEW DELHI, July 27 (Bernama) -- Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar on Sunday paid tribute to the 2024 student-led uprising in Bangladesh as a quest for sovereignty and dignity. Bangladesh is holding a series of events to mark the first anniversary of the fall of Sheikh Hasina's nearly 16-year rule as a result of what has become known as the July Revolution. She said the events of last year were not just a protest but became an avenue for the rebirth of the nation's spirit. "At the end of the day, any regime, no matter how powerful, cannot stand against the will of an awakened people," Nurul Izzah said. Hasina resigned and fled to India on August 5 as protests mounted against her rule across Bangladesh. Nurul Izzah said the July Revolution is a reminder that "stability without justice is fragile." She also referred to the ongoing genocide by Israel in Gaza in her speech, which covered wide-ranging topics such as democratic and political reforms, her own struggles, youth activism and economic empowerment. Nurul Izzah said the "enabling of the genocidal onslaught in Gaza by the hegemons and their ilk reminds us of the need to reaffirm our solidarity." She spoke alongside international and Bangladeshi speakers at the first International Conference on the July Revolution, organised by the Dhaka-based think tank Research and Integrated Thought (RIT) and Dhaka University's Department of Political Science.

Strive For Change To The Best Of One's Ability, Anwar Reminds PKR Members
POLITICS KUALA LUMPUR, July 27 (Bernama) – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reminded Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) members to hold firmly to the call for islah mastata'tum, meaning to strive for change to the best of one's ability. Anwar, who is also PKR president, said this during a meeting with Federal Territories PKR members in Putrajaya today. 'We may not be able to achieve everything in the blink of an eye, but we will continue to advance the reform agenda step by step,' he said in a Facebook post. He noted that the Federal Territories have long stood as one of the strongholds of PKR's struggle, but the party's strength would only be meaningful if it continued to be grounded in core values and grassroots efforts. 'Divisions must remain active through programmes that truly engage with the people, regardless of race, age or background,' he said. Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said that in charting the path forward, criticisms and reminders must be welcomed in the spirit of the struggle. 'I thank all who gathered (for the rally in the federal capital) yesterday as it was conducted peacefully. I am always open to criticism and feedback, although I'm slightly disappointed that no substantive issues were raised. All we heard was one chant: 'Turunkan Anwar' (Step down, Anwar).' 'The Opposition Leader is said to be planning to table a motion of no confidence. By all means. This is a democracy. It is a legitimate process. If there are sufficient numbers, just bring it to Parliament,' he said. The Prime Minister added that he has never claimed the MADANI Government is perfect, nor is he arrogant about correcting its shortcomings.
