'Alien: Earth' features a barefoot trillionaire. He echoes 'what's happening right now in the world,' says the actor who plays him.
The show follows two warring companies, Weyland-Yutani and Prodigy Corp, as they scramble to catch the Xenomorph and a handful of other creatures after they crash-land on Earth.
Prodigy Corp is led by Boy Kavalier (Samuel Blenkin), who has found a way to transfer the consciousness of terminally ill children into synthetic adult bodies. He uses these human-androids (dubbed the "Lost Boys") to do his bidding and capture the Xenomorph.
Noah Hawley, who created and wrote "Alien: Earth," spoke to Business Insider in London about how the show holds a mirror up to our world, saying, "I think it's pretty obvious that we're all living in the same world, and we are looking at this show with the same eyes."

He said that because Weyland-Yutani was a "faceless corporate thing" where "the individual was powerless against the system" in the "Alien" movies, he needed to add something different in the TV show so audiences could "see the world they were living in."
"What we have now is a system in which the individual has the most power. The one leader of the corporation is a celebrity and a trillionaire and everything, and then all of the other individuals are powerless in the face of the whim of the founder."
Blenkin said that Kavalier makes "brutal, logical choices" because he believes he's doing what is best for humanity.
"There are clear resonances there with what's happening right now in the world, and the joy of this character who is strange and has his own weird tendencies and that kind of thing. I get to inhabit that."
Despite the commentary on our own world, Blenkin says his performance isn't inspired by anyone in particular because "the writing is taking care of those connections."
He continued, "The best stories, especially a TV show, you want to come around the back door. You don't want to knock the audience over the head."
"Alien: Earth" starts streaming on Hulu on August 12 in the United States and on August 13 on Disney+ in the United Kingdom.

In space, no one can hear you stream. Alien: Earth, the first-ever television series in the Alien franchise, will make landfall on FX and Hulu starting August 12. Emerging from the mind of television producer and author Noah Hawley, Alien: Earth is primed to end the lackluster summer TV season on a high note. Set two years prior to the events of the 1979 classic Alien, Alien: Earth follows a special young woman, a "hybrid" synthetic named Wendy (Sydney Chandler) who leads a group of other synthetics to the crash site of the spaceship Maginot. There, in the middle of densely populated Southeast Asia, Wendy and her corporate overlords discover a terrifying threat to all living things on Earth. In Esquire's review by Josh Rosenberg, Alien: Earth is "thrilling" and "surprisingly gruesome for TV" while still remaining an intelligent thriller that speculates humanity's relationship to the scientific unknown. Writes Rosenberg: "Alien: Earth may share much of its DNA with Jurassic Park and Westworld, but there's much more material to chew on than whether characters survive. Much like creating an Ex Machina–esque AI woman that only serves you if it remains in her best interests, the threat that any little hiccup from our planet's megacorporations could unlock world-ending carnage is far scarier than the ensuing bloodbath." Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's relationship with Netflix isn't over. Here's what we know about their future projects, including season 2 of 'With Love, Meghan.'

On Monday, Netflix and Archewell Productions announced they were extending their creative partnership with a multiyear, first-look deal that covers all of Harry and Meghan's film and television projects. A new phase with Netflix Archewell Productions' new agreement with Netflix is slightly different than the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's 2020 deal with the streamer, which was reported to have granted Netflix exclusive rights to the couple's film and TV work for $100 million. Instead, Netflix will essentially have first dibs on any film or television project Archewell creates, but Harry and Meghan will also be able to shop the projects to other companies if Netflix chooses not to pick them up. In July, multiple outlets reported that Archewell and Netflix's original deal wouldn't be renewed, leading to questions about Harry and Meghan's future with the streamer, though neither company ever confirmed the reports. Still, while the Duke and Duchess' docuseries "Harry & Meghan" and Meghan's lifestyle series "With Love, Meghan" performed well on Netflix, some of their other projects, like the docuseries "Polo" and "Live to Lead," didn't hit with viewers. In addition to the first-look deal, Netflix will continue to partner with Meghan on As Ever, her lifestyle business. The brand released its first rosés over the summer, and it has more drops with new products coming later this year. Netflix said that the lifestyle series had become its "most-watched culinary show" since it aired in March 2025, amassing over 5 million viewers. Like season one, season two will see Meghan cooking and working on DIY projects with special guests, though Netflix has yet to announce who will appear in the coming episodes. Harry was largely absent from "With Love, Meghan," which experts told Business Insider was a wise move from the duchess. In addition to Meghan's show, Netflix will air "Masaka Kids, A Rhythm Within," a documentary short produced by Campfire Studios in association with Archewell Productions, in the second half of 2025. Archewell Productions is also working on "Meet Me at the Lake," a film adaptation of Carley Fortune's bestselling novel of the same name. The production company bought the rights to the film back in 2023, though it hasn't announced any updates, like a director, screenwriter, cast, or release date, since.
