Lawmaker calls for cooperation between press and parliament

MP Jalal Kadhem congratulated the President and board of the Bahrain Journalists' Association (BJA) on their election win, wishing them success as they take up their roles in service of Bahraini journalism. He noted the Association's work to empower those in the media, defend their rights, and raise standards built on professionalism and objectivity. The result, he said, shows the trust journalists have placed in the elected board to serve the craft and its members. Cornerstone Kadhem said the reform project led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa treats the press as a cornerstone of oversight, growth, and reform, which shows the standing of freedom of opinion and expression in Bahrain. He voiced full support for efforts to advance Bahraini journalism, calling it a partner in democratic life and long-term development. He also called for joint work between the press, civil institutions, and the legislative authority to build a more open and professional media setting that serves scrutiny, law-making, and the wider public interest.

MP hails BJA's new board

MP Hassan Ibrahim congratulated Issa Ali Al Shaiji on being elected unopposed as President of the Bahrain Journalists Association (BJA) for 2025–2026, and wished him and the newly elected board success in serving journalists and supporting the national press. He said the result shows the trust Mr Al Shaiji holds among reporters and editors, built on a long career in journalism and his earlier terms. That trust, he added, is due to his record of service to the profession. The MP described the Association as 'a cornerstone of press freedom and professional responsibility'. He said its work is in step with Bahrain's progress under His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with strong support from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for the media sector. He said Parliament stands with journalists and their work. The lawmaker noted that, in the last legislative term, Parliament passed the Press and Media Law, a step towards stronger freedom of expression and rules for the sector. He said the law gives journalists greater legal protections to do their work with independence and professionalism. MP Ibrahim thanked Bahraini journalists for reporting on the Kingdom's achievements.
