Bahrain supports Arab parliamentary coordination
Tashkent Council of Representatives Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam emphasised the importance of supporting Arab parliamentary coordination in global forums and backing key Arab causes, particularly the Palestinian issue. Al Musallam was speaking as he met with Ibrahim Boughali, Speaker of the Algerian People's National Assembly and President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), on the sidelines of the 150th IPU General Assembly in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Head of the Bahrain parliamentary delegation, Al Musallam commended the deep relations between the Kingdom and the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria and underscored the importance of further developing ties across all domains. The meeting also explored means of enhancing joint parliamentary cooperation, exchanging expertise and mutual visits, coordinating positions in parliamentary forums, and continuing to enhance bilateral cooperation in all areas, particularly in the parliamentary field. Both sides also discussed the activation of agreements and the work of friendship committees, in a manner that serves the interests and well-being of both countries and their peoples. The meeting was attended by Dalal Jassim Al Zayed, member of the Shura Council; MP Hassan Ibrahim Hassan, MP Dr. Bassam Ismail Al Binmohammed, MP Dr. Mahdi Abdulaziz Al Showaikh; Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sisi Al Buainain, Secretary General of the Council of Representatives; and Kareema Mohammed Al Abbasi, Secretary General of the Shura Council.

Bahraini Parliamentary Delegation Participates in Joint Meeting with GRULAC on Sidelines of IPU Assembly in Tashkent
TDT | Manama A parliamentary delegation from the Kingdom of Bahrain took part in a joint meeting between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) legislative councils and the Group of Latin American and Caribbean Countries (GRULAC), held today (Saturday) on the sidelines of the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), currently underway in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The Bahraini delegation was represented by His Excellency Mr. Jamal Mohammed Fakhro, First Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council and Deputy Head of the Bahraini Parliamentary Delegation, and His Excellency MP Abdulnabi Salman Ahmed, First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives. The meeting was chaired on the GCC side by His Excellency Dr. Ali Al Nuaimi, Member of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates and representative of the Arab Group in the IPU. The session was attended by distinguished representatives of the GCC legislative councils. On the GRULAC side, the meeting was led by His Excellency Manzoor Nadir, Speaker of the Parliament of Guyana and Chair of GRULAC, with the participation of several parliamentarians from Latin America and the Caribbean, who expressed their warm welcome to the Gulf delegation and highlighted their interest in fostering dialogue and joint cooperation. The meeting focused on exploring avenues for mutual cooperation and strengthening parliamentary relations through the exchange of expertise and greater coordination in international parliamentary forums. Participants also discussed mechanisms for aligning and coordinating positions on the key issues listed on the agenda of the 150th IPU General Assembly and the 215th session of the Governing Council. GRULAC is one of the six geopolitical groups of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. It comprises parliaments from over 30 countries in South America, Central America, and the Caribbean, working to enhance collaboration and coordination among its members on matters of shared interest within the IPU framework.

UAE concludes term of representation of Arab Group in IPU with landmark achievements
4 Apr 2025 18:11 TASHKENT (WAM)The UAE Parliamentary Division concluded a distinguished term representing the Arab Group on the Executive Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), marked by significant Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the UAE Parliamentary Division of the Federal National Council to the IPU and Representative of the Arab Group on the Executive Committee, presented the final report on the UAE Parliamentary Division's representation of the Arab Group on the committee. The report was delivered during the Arab Group's coordination meeting held on Friday, on the sidelines of the 150th IPU General Assembly in Tashkent, Al Nuaimi expressed appreciation for the Arab Parliamentary Group's confidence in the UAE Parliamentary Division, which has represented them on the Executive Committee for four years since 2022. He highlighted the UAE's active role in parliamentary diplomacy across IPU events and activities, as well as its strong partnerships with various parliaments and geopolitical groups within the Al Nuaimi outlined key contributions made during the UAE's representation, which focused on supporting Arab positions, strengthening Arab presence in international parliamentary decision-making processes, and contributing to the overall enhancement of the IPU's performance on various to the report, the Arab Group representative chaired the Sub-Committee on Financial Affairs, participated in discussions on proposed amendments to the IPU Statutes, contributed to the development of the IPU's Code of Conduct for officials, supported the adoption of an anti-harassment policy, and proposed the establishment of an independent Oversight and Ethics Committee to promote institutional governance within the Union. The report also highlighted support for hosting international parliamentary events in the Arab region, notably the parliamentary meeting held alongside the COP28 Climate Conference, the parliamentary meeting accompanying the 13th WTO Ministerial Conference, and the Executive Committee meeting — all hosted by the Federal National Council in the UAE. These efforts reflect the region's growing role in the global parliamentary agenda.
