PM Anwar says won't step down unless proven guilty of graft, hits back at ‘forgotten' politicians
He said there is no reason for him to vacate his post as he had not stolen public funds, New Straits Times reported this evening.
'Insya Allah, I will not step down,' he was quoted as telling reporters after the groundbreaking ceremony of Kompleks Madani Teluk Kumbar in Penang.
'If I steal the people's money, then they can call for me to step down. But I did not do so.
'All government contracts go through an open tender process.'
Anwar said his critics should use proper channels like tabling a motion of no-confidence in Parliament to challenge his leadership.
'They can pull support from any member of Parliament to support them. If I lose, I will step down nicely. That is the peaceful way,' he was quoted as saying.
He said the Opposition could also wait until the next general election, though he has not set a date for it.
'So, for now, let us preserve this peace and unity in our country,' he was quoted as saying, noting regional instability in other countries.
Anwar said past allegations against him had long been addressed and no longer held weight after nearly three years in office.
He said leaders with questionable wealth must be held accountable.
'If there are leaders who had wealths of RM100 million, they need to come forward and explain, answer for themselves (if investigated),' he was quoted as saying.
Anwar also accused certain politicians of attacking him now that they are no longer in power.
'Now that they are no longer in power, they gathered to hit out at us, saying we are oppressing the people, protecting the rich and oppressing the poor.
'But they forget,' he was quoted as saying, without detailing.
Anwar's remarks comes before the Dewan Rakyat resumes its sitting on Monday.
Anwar, who is also the finance minister, is scheduled to table the 13th Malaysia Plan on July 31.
The mid-term review of national development policy is expected to outline economic and social reforms under his administration.

‘I stick to my speech': Ex-judge Abdul Rahman Sebli stands by bombshell farewell claim of pressure on the bench
PUTRAJAYA, July 28 — Fresh off his retirement as Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak, Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Sebli today reaffirmed his claim that he was pressured by a senior judge during his time on the Federal Court bench. The allegation, first made during his farewell speech in Kuching, Sarawak on July 23, came just two days before his official retirement. 'I have nothing else to say. I stick to my speech,' Abdul Rahman told reporters when approached at the Palace of Justice after attending the swearing-in ceremony for his successor and other judicial appointments. Asked why he had only recently made the claim public, Abdul Rahman replied, 'I think this is the right time lah'. When questioned whether he was concerned about possible repercussions, he said: 'I am not worried. I am saying what is right'. In his speech, Abdul Rahman alleged that the pressure came while he was still a junior Federal Court judge, before his elevation to Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak. He was appointed a Federal Court judge on August 8, 2019, and later ascended to the role of Chief Judge on January 17, 2023. Recounting the incident, he said he had circulated a draft judgment to six other Federal Court judges, in line with court protocol. He claimed a senior judge responded via email, criticising his views on a constitutional issue in the case. Despite the alleged pressure, Abdul Rahman said he stood by his judgment. Three other judges agreed with his draft, forming the majority. The remaining three judges dissented. He did not name the senior judge involved, nor did he identify the specific case referenced in his remarks. Former chief justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat, when approached by reporters today at the Palace of Justice, declined to engage in a direct back-and-forth over the remarks. 'I don't want to make this a contest of words,' she said, before offering context about her tenure. Tengku Maimun noted that she dissented in five out of 19 Federal Court cases involving constitutional issues during her six-year tenure as chief justice. She said this demonstrated judicial independence on the bench. 'Because if I had any influence on their decisions, then surely I would not be dissenting in five out of 19 cases involving especially constitutional law,' she said.

TechStore secures RM7.75m Customs job for baggage and body scanners at checkpoint as RTS Link project expands
KUALA LUMPUR, July 28 — TechStore Bhd's wholly-owned unit Tech-Store Malaysia Sdn Bhd has secured a RM7.75 million from the Royal Malaysian Customs Department to provide leasing and training services for four baggage scanner machines and two body scanner machines with accessories. The equipment will be deployed at the Woodlands North Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) facility in Singapore under the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link project, TechStore said. 'The contract period would be 77 months from Aug 1, 2025, to Dec 31, 2031,' the information technology (IT) solutions provider said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia. The ACE Market-listed company said Tech-Store Malaysia will submit a performance bond of RM60,367.34, which is five per cent of the contract value divided by six years and five months as security for the proper and due performance of the works. In a separate statement, TechStore managing director Tan Hock Lim said the contract further expands its involvement in the RTS Link project, which encompasses design consultation for depot equipment and service vehicles, uninterruptible power supply, the RTS enterprise resource planning work packages, and the project for fit-out works for Malaysian agencies at Woodlands North CIQ. 'Beyond the RTS Link, we are involved in major initiatives such as the LRT Kelana Jaya Line, LRT Ampang Line, MRT Kajang Line, and the ongoing LRT3. 'With the government's increasing push toward public transport digitalisation, we see growing demand for integrated, secure, and localised enterprise IT solutions,' he said. The group's unbilled order book remains healthy at RM135.3 million as at May 31, 2025, supported by a robust job pipeline with a tender book totalling RM1.2 billion. TechStore was listed on Bursa Malaysia on Feb 18, 2025, and has raised a total of RM25 million in proceeds to accelerate its growth plans and enhance its capacity to undertake larger-scale projects. — Bernama
