Google will finally allow you to change the icon shapes on Pixel's home screen. Here's what you need to know.
Today, Google launched the Pixel 10, but that's far from everything new from the company. Along with the device premiere, we've also got the latest Android Canary update, which brings a long-awaited icon personalization ability for the home screen of Pixel devices. The August 2025 Android Canary update adds the ability to customize the shapes of the icons on the home screen. Spotted by Android Authority, the customization option allows you to choose one of five preset shapes. Once you open the Wallpaper & Style app, you will notice that the Icons menu has changed. It now allows you to enable icon theming and switch the default circle-shaped icons to something else. The other options are a square, four-sided cookie, a seven-sided cookie, and an arch. It was an option on the Pixel Launcher with Android 12, but it was later removed. The change first surfaced in an early beta version of Android 16 last year. In March, a more robust version of it was spotted in the code of the Android 16 Beta 3 release. Then, a menu with six shapes was uncovered. Those were the same five shapes we're getting in the current Canary update, and an extra complex clover option, which is now design changes might seem innocuous at first, but they're quite significant. Icon shapes could easily clash with the contents of some icons, which might be the reason why one of the shapes we've seen earlier is now gone. That's also an easy way to change the appearance of a home screen drastically. Android has always been famous for providing great customization options. Devices like the Pixel 10 and Galaxy S25 Ultra allow much easier customization than the iOS-powered iPhone 16. That's why all finalists in our home screen contest are from Android phones. I love having the opportunity to customize my devices, but I rarely do it. Whenever I've tried changing my home screen too much, I end up with a barely usable setup and shortly return to the default. That's why such a change is not a deal breaker for me, but I appreciate it.

Leaked images of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra show a smaller notch
The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra had a dual front-facing camera – as did the Tab S9 Ultra and Tab S10 Ultra. That's cool and all, but the wide notch they caused was not ideal. The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra will go halfway towards fixing the issue – it will only have a single camera on the front. Due to thin bezels, that camera will still live on a notch, but it will be less obtrusive as you can see in the images below. The notch, which will have a semicircular design, will eat a tiny fraction of the roomy 14.6' OLED display. Leaked images of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra show the new smaller notch Samsung is said to be using a new panel for this one, but the resolution is the same at 2,960 x 1,848px. We could see a higher brightness or other improvements. Flipping over to the back, there are two cameras, a wide and ultra-wide. The new Ultra, which is set to be announced at IFA in early September, will be powered by the original Dimensity 9400, according to WinFuture. This contradicts the previous report that said 9400+ instead of 9400. The Plus chip boosts the Cortex-X925 core to 3.73GHz (up from 3.63GHz) and increases NPU performance by 20%, but that's about it – which is to say that it's not a huge deal which of the two rumors is correct. The current Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra with a trapezoidal dual-camera notch The tablet will have up to 16GB of RAM, likely starting at 12GB for the base model. Storage will be up to 1TB. It will run Android 16 – we're yet to see One UI 8 on a tablet, so we don't know what upgrades Samsung has in stores for its large screen devices. As previously reported, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra will measure only 5.1mm thick while having a slightly larger 11,600mAh battery – for comparison, the Tab S10 Ultra is 5.4mm and has an 11,200mAh battery.
