The company said it had secured the project under the Government of India's flagship Jal Jeevan Mission.
The contract includes a long-term 10-year operation and maintenance (O&M) component, aimed at ensuring the system's sustained performance over the coming decade. This project exemplifies our integrated approach to water infrastructure development, combining advanced technology, efficient distribution systems, and long-term operational excellence. Eligibility survey to conclude in Dharavi on Aug 12

The survey began in March 2024, with initial targets for completion in one year. Residents settled on or before January 1, 2000, are eligible for a free 350 sq ft flat within Dharavi. Those settled between January 1, 2000, and January 1, 2011, may qualify for 300 sq ft units outside Dharavi, under PMAY, either rental or purchase at nominal cost. While the door-to-door visits will end on August 12, residents who call the DRP helpline with valid documents will be entitled to submit documents needed to decide on the eligibility for resettlement. DRP officials said the survey teams will stop door-to-door visits after August 12, but if any tenement holder contacts the DRP helpline and visits DRP and NMDPL offices in Dharavi with valid documents, they will still be added to the survey documentation. As per the latest data, more than 87,000 tenements have completed the household survey, and more than one lakh tenements have been mapped across Dharavi. 'So far, over 87,000 tenements have completed the household (door-to-door) survey, and more than one lakh tenements have been mapped. Similarly, all tenements of the included parcels eligible for redevelopment have been included. 'In total, around 1.20 lakh tenements have been mapped and are expected to be built in Dharavi, Kurla, Mulund, Kanjurmarg, Bhandup and Mukteshwar. No new door-to-door survey visits will be carried out after Aug 12, 2025, for areas covered already. It will be considered that those who did not take part chose to opt out of the Government scheme. They can, however, submit their requests later once Draft Annexure-II is announced,' a DRP official said. The redevelopment team has already shared multiple times that the survey is in its final phase. 'Those who haven't participated so far for any reason should do so immediately. Since most of Dharavi has been covered, we don't see the need for further door-to-door visits,' the official added. The DRP has covered the entire Dharavi, and only a few pockets are remaining. 'Only those few pockets are remaining where there is still some dilemma/to extort more like private landowners, and some areas like Kumbharwada and Compound 13. Whenever any resident calls the helpline with valid documents, teams will immediately include them in the survey list,' the official said. The state cabinet recently gave its approval to a policy of accommodating even lessees and other commercial units, not having ownership and who have been operating in Dharavi, to be tenants at the 10 per cent space reserved for commercial use in the rehabilitation buildings. This move largely ensures that both eligible and ineligible commercial units will operate out of Dharavi, thereby keeping their business and commercial ecosystem intact. The Dharavi Redevelopment Project is the Maharashtra government's pioneering move towards integrated township and commercial spaces and distributed public amenities. The masterplan envisages a human-centric redevelopment plan with co-location of residential and commercial activity, which is fundamental to Dharavi's 'work-life' model. It lays tremendous emphasis on infrastructure development, which would benefit millions of Mumbaikars. 'The Dharavi Redevelopment Project is planned as a self-contained ecosystem, a city within a city. The government doesn't want anyone to be left out in this housing-for-all, largest urban rejuvenation project in the country's history,' the DRP official said. Trump's Tirade, India's Reply, Political Plot: Key Points In Massive Debate Over Trade Deal

Trump announced a 25% tariff on Indian goods due to India's high tariffs and Russian oil purchases. Experts foresee limited GDP impact but significant effects on key sectors. Ahead of the August 1 deadline, US President Donald Trump announced a 25% tariff on Indian goods and a penalty, even as negotiations between Washington and New Delhi are ongoing. Trump's announcement drew ire from opposition parties, but the Government of India stated that it would study the implications of the tariff. Experts have predicted a very limited impact, suggesting that the tariff blow could lower India's GDP by up to 30 basis points. Sectors such as pharmaceuticals, gems and jewellery, textiles, and automobiles are expected to be affected the most. Stock markets in India, which had been trading in a range over the past few days, did not witness any knee-jerk reaction, although the benchmark indices ended in the red. Trump has linked his tariff decision to India's purchase of Russian oil and its standing in BRICS, which Washington sees as an anti-US alliance. However, he changed his tune later to say he does not care what India does with Russia. Even though tariffs have been imposed, Trump has kept his doors open for negotiations and hinted at a possible deal by the end of this week. What Trump Said About India? While he continued his tirade, the US President expressed willingness to negotiate a deal with India. 'They have one of the highest tariffs in the world. Now, they are willing to cut it very substantially. But we will see what happens. We are talking to India now. We will see what happens. It doesn't matter too much whether we have a deal or we charge them a certain tariff. But you will know at the end of this week," he said in the White House on Wednesday. Trump has also called India's economy 'dead" and said both New Delhi and Moscow can bring down their economies together. How India Responded Shortly after Trump's announcement, India said it is studying the implications of the tariff. While maintaining that both countries are engaged in negotiations, the government said it will take all steps necessary to secure the national interest. The government also said it attaches the utmost importance to protecting and promoting the welfare of our farmers, entrepreneurs, and MSMEs. In the Parliament, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal made a statement, 'We will take all necessary steps to safeguard our national interest." Politics Over Tariffs Peak The opposition saw Trump's announcement as an opportunity to corner the government. Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP, echoed Trump and said the Indian economy is a dead economy. 'Yes, he is right. Everybody knows this except the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister. Everybody knows that the Indian economy is a dead economy. I am glad that President Trump has stated a fact," Gandhi said when asked to comment on Trump's dead economy remark. While the Rae Bareli MP attacked the Narendra Modi government, two of his party colleagues– Shashi Tharoor and Rajiv Shukla – called out Trump for his decision. Tharoor, who has gone out of his party's line to back the government on some issues like Operation Sindoor, said India must not 'buckle under" and negotiate hard with the United States. But this time, Shukla also joined Tharoor on the issue and said the government considers Trump a friend, but he has slapped us. 'This is a really wrong step by the US. The government considers Trump a friend, but he has actually slapped us; Indian businessmen will suffer due to this. We will raise all issues in Parliament…When there is so much friendship (between India-US_, then why is Donald Trump troubling India?" Shukla said. Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress also hit out at the government over 'failure" of India's foreign policy and diplomacy. 'We were shown that Trump is a great friend of PM Modi, but the decisions coming from the other side are not good for India's prestige and self-respect," TMC leader Kunal Ghosh said. On the other hand, the ruling BJP and its allies targeted the opposition for taking on the government over Trump's tariffs. Former union minister and BJP MP Anurag Thakur said, 'Leader Opposing Bharat, LoB, Rahul Gandhi's job is only to oppose India. Anyone from around the world makes an anti-India statement, Rahul catches hold of it and starts speaking without thinking." Echoing a similar reaction, Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora said, 'When a country like the US imposes tariffs on other countries, the country unites, and the opposition stands in support of the government. In India, unfortunately, there are still some people in the opposition who prefer to rejoice and celebrate temporary setbacks. I can only hope and pray that they will mature, grow up and learn to put country before politics." From Small Towns to the Global Stage: Samsung and Startup India Sign MoU to Empower India's Next Generation of Innovators

Samsung, India's largest consumer electronics brand, has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Startup India, a flagship initiative of the Government of India, to empower young innovators from remote corners of India and strengthen the country's startup ecosystem with Samsung Solve for Tomorrow. The MoU was signed in New Delhi and brings together Samsung's flagship nationwide innovation contest, Samsung Solve for Tomorrow, and Startup India's robust national ecosystem of incubation, mentorship, and policy support. The collaboration aims to identify and nurture high-potential talent, especially from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, by providing access to infrastructure, expert guidance, market linkages, and funding opportunities. "At Samsung, we believe innovation thrives when young minds are empowered with the right platforms and support systems. Our partnership with Startup India is a significant step in that direction. By bringing together Samsung Solve for Tomorrow's vision and Startup India's expansive ecosystem and network, we aim to nurture the next generation of the change makers from the remote corners of India to become the problem solvers of tomorrow. This collaboration is aligned with Skill India and Digital India initiatives and aims to strengthen the innovation ecosystem in the country,' said SP Chun, Corporate Vice President, Samsung Southwest Asia. "Innovation is the key to growth, unlocking new possibilities, driving progress, and enabling solutions that shape a better future. And, empowering young innovators is central to India's growth story. Through this collaboration between Startup India and Samsung Solve for Tomorrow, we are strengthening our commitment to building an inclusive, innovation-led ecosystem. This partnership will not only encourage youth from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities to ideate and innovate, but also aligns closely with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. We are happy to see Samsung stepping forward to nurture the entrepreneurial spirit across the country," said Shri Sanjiv, Joint Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India. Samsung Solve for Tomorrow is a flagship innovation and education initiative designed to foster problem-solving, creativity, and social impact among India's youth. Through this programme, young students are encouraged to identify real-world issues in their communities and work toward building scalable solutions using design thinking, technology and entrepreneurial skills. The initiative provides mentorship, workshops, prototype development support, and opportunities to pitch ideas to experts and investors. The new partnership will see Startup India leveraging its extensive network of incubators and accelerators, while Samsung drives on-ground engagement with students and young innovators through hands-on learning and innovation challenges. This integrated approach, designed to scale grassroots innovation, will place innovation at the core of India's education and entrepreneurship ecosystems. This model public-private partnership between Samsung India and Startup India reinforces the shared commitment to the Make in India, Digital India, and Skill India missions—putting young, local innovators at the centre of India's technology and manufacturing-led future. First launched in the US in 2010, Samsung Solve for Tomorrow is currently operational in 68 countries and has seen over 3 million young people participate worldwide. The 2025 edition offers an incubation programme for the Top 4 winning teams that will receive a grant of INR 1 crore. Additionally, the Top 20 teams will be awarded INR 20 lakh, while the Top 40 teams will receive INR 8 lakh. This year, participants were encouraged to design solutions across four key themes: AI for a Safer, Smarter, and Inclusive Bharat; Future of Health, Hygiene, and Well-being in India; Social change through Sports and Tech for Education and Better Futures; and Environmental Sustainability via Technology. The shortlists have gone hyperlocal, with the programme discovering young innovators from some of India's far-flung districts—including Samastipur in Bihar, Guntur in Andhra Pradesh, Baramulla in Jammu & Kashmir, and Cachar in Assam. The reach and resonance of the programme is evident not just in the geographies covered, but also in the ingenuity of the ideas submitted across all four themes.
