Chris Evans' Virgin Radio breakfast show co-star Vassos Alexander gets visibly emotional as he departs the show after 14 years
The sports presenter, born in 1973, paid tribute to his co-star, 59, describing his 14-year stint on the airwaves with Chris as the 'honour of my life'.
Virgin Radio also paid tribute to Vassos, sharing a clip of his tribute to Chris that was simply described as being 'The mother of Bromances'.
A visibly emotional Vassos said: 'It has been the honour of my life to work on this show and I still can't quite believe I'm leaving voluntarily.
'Much more importantly, I value our friendship above everything and long may that continue.'
Vassos initially joined The Chris Evans Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 in 2011 before the pair moved to the Breakfast Show on Virgin Radio.
Paying further tribute to Chris, Vassos decided to play Chris's favourite song as a parting gift.
He said: 'There's not much we don't know about each other, but I only just discovered this week that this is your favourite song.
'So Chris, your friend Vassos has picked the song Wild West Hero by ELO. Why? Because he loves you.'
'Oh, Vassos. What are we going to do? We can't start crying now.'
Vassos went on to insist that he was not crying before Chris joked that he doesn't cry either.
He added: 'This is lovely for us, but it is going to be a rubbish listen if we just cry for three hours!'
Vassos's departure from the show was announced back in May when he admitted that while he loved the show, he felt like there was something missing in his life and wanted to pursue other opportunities elsewhere.
He said at the time: 'You've got to follow your heart.'

This included clips of the presenter singing, attempting the 'Sprite challenge', where he tried to drink an entire bottle of the drink without burping, and head-butting a football.

Fred Dibnah memorial in Bolton to be repaired eight months on
A memorial to TV star Fred Dibnah will be fixed in the next few weeks after being damaged eight months ago, a council has stone tribute to the famous steeplejack on Churchgate in Bolton town centre was installed following his death at the age of 66 in November Council said the stone had recently been remade and was being scheduled for comes after businessman Dave Fishwick, whose life's story was made into a Netflix film called Bank of Dave, said he would fund the repair work. "Fred's a legend - let's just remember what he did for everybody – he inspired me as a child."Dibnah, who was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2003, became an unlikely television celebrity after he appeared in a local news programme repairing Bolton's town hall clock in 1979. He went on to be the star of 20 documentaries. Bolton Council has since thanked Mr Fishwick for his offer and confirmed plans are already in place.A Bolton Council spokesperson said: "Fred Dibnah is one of Bolton's best loved sons, and his statue is a fitting tribute to him and our borough's proud history."We are determined to return his statue to its former glory, and the stone has now been remade and is being scheduled in for installation in the next few weeks."In the meantime, we would like to thank all those offering to repair the statue free of charge, which underlines how much he is loved by locals and visitors to Bolton." Tesco's birthday cake sandwich launch divides opinion on social media
Tesco has launched a birthday cake sandwich, complete with strawberry jam, soft cheese, vanilla frosting and sprinkles – but the candle isn't included. The limited-edition sandwich, between slices of brioche-style white bread, contains 31.g of sugar – 35% of an adult's recommended daily intake – and will be on sale for £3 at 1,000 stores for four weeks. Videos of people trying out the sandwich have attracted tens of thousands of views on TikTok over the past 24 hours. Some Tesco customers expressed scepticism on Reddit.
