Adria Arjona replaces Taylor Russell in ‘The Crown Affair' remake
Adria Arjona has officially taken over the high-stakes female lead in The Thomas Crown Affair remake, following Taylor Russell's sudden departure. The casting switch has sparked waves of curiosity across the industry, with many speculating about what led to the change, and what Arjona brings to the role. With production already underway in London, the studio moved fast to replace Russell, reportedly fielding a flood of calls from agents once the part reopened. Arjona joins Michael B. Jordan, who not only stars in the remake but also directs. The stylish heist thriller, a reimagining of the 1968 classic, is being produced by Amazon MGM Studios and boasts a cast stacked with prestige: Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Pilou Asbæk, and Aiysha Hart round out the ensemble. The film is targeting a theatrical release on March 5, 2027. This marks another major win for Arjona, who has been steadily climbing the Hollywood ranks. Her acclaimed performance in Andor helped catapult her into bigger projects, and her recent collaborations with Amazon, like Blink Twice, cemented her as a studio favorite. She'll also appear in Prime Video's upcoming crime drama Criminal, furthering her TV momentum. While plot details remain locked down, insiders suggest the new Thomas Crown Affair will lean into modern romance, tech-savvy crime, and sharp psychological tension. The project is being penned by Drew Pearce, building on a draft originally developed by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson. Producers include Jordan's Outlier Society, Charles Roven's Atlas Entertainment, and Marc Toberoff. The internet responded quickly to the casting update, with fans applauding the upgrade. Comments across X and TikTok already frame Arjona as the film's secret weapon, with users buzzing about her chemistry with Jordan and her ability to 'own every frame.'

Is Margot Robbie about to get ‘Basic'? Steamy reboot fuels casting frenzy
Hollywood may be about to get a lot steamier, again. Margot Robbie is emerging as the clear fan favourite to lead a reboot of Basic Instinct, the 1992 erotic thriller that made Sharon Stone a household name. The new film, described as 'wild and orgasmic,' is being developed by Amazon MGM Studios' United Artists and already has the internet in a full-blown casting meltdown. With no official casting announced yet, speculation is reaching fever pitch online. Social media exploded when fans floated Robbie's name as the perfect modern Catherine Tramell. 'Remake it with Margot Robbie,' one user posted on X, echoing hundreds of similar sentiments. UK bookies have joined the fray, putting Robbie at 3/1 odds, just behind Florence Pugh at 2/1. Other contenders include Sydney Sweeney, Anya Taylor-Joy, Ana de Armas, and Jodie Comer. Adding fuel to the fire, original screenwriter Joe Eszterhas has signed a $4 million deal to write the reboot. Now 80, Eszterhas clapped back at ageist criticism with a statement that's as provocative as the project itself. 'The rumours of my cinematic impotence are exaggerated,' he said. 'My writing partner, the Twisted Little Man, is sky high up for this. He promises a wild and orgasmic ride.' The original Basic Instinct followed Michael Douglas as a detective entangled with sultry novelist Tramell, played with unforgettable menace by Stone. The film made over $350 million globally and featured one of the most iconic, and controversial, interrogation scenes in cinema history. With Margot Robbie's star only rising post-Barbie, fans are convinced she's the only one who can pull off the role with equal amounts of danger and allure. Whether she takes the plunge or not, the buzz is building, and this reboot is already one of the most anticipated (and lusted after) revivals of the decade.

‘Basic Instinct' reboot confirmed as original writer cashes in big
In a move sure to ignite both nostalgia and controversy, Amazon MGM Studios' United Artists has officially greenlit a reboot of Basic Instinct, the infamous 1992 erotic thriller that made cinematic history. The project is now in active development, and the original film's screenwriter Joe Eszterhas has signed on to write the reboot, reportedly for a massive $4 million pay check. Producer Scott Stuber has acquired the rights and is aiming to retain the provocative edge that defined the original. Sharon Stone's legendary portrayal of crime novelist Catherine Trammel and Michael Douglas's detective Nick Curran became pop culture icons, particularly after the film's notorious interrogation scene. Directed by Paul Verhoeven, the original pulled in over $350 million worldwide and sparked decades of debate about sex, power, and female agency in Hollywood. Now, with Eszterhas back in the writer's chair, the reboot is expected to stay true to the essence of the original while introducing a modern lens. The move also marks a potential return of the big-screen erotic thriller, a genre that has mostly vanished in the current studio climate. Industry chatter is already swirling about who might take over the iconic roles, but casting has not yet been announced. The timing is notable, as streaming platforms increasingly compete for attention with buzzy adult thrillers. The reboot of Basic Instinct could become a defining moment for Amazon's film strategy. Fans of the original are both excited and wary, wondering how the sensual shock factor will translate in 2025. Though no release date has been confirmed, expectations are high for a bold and boundary-pushing reinterpretation of a film that once redefined the thriller genre.
