Penang FAMA Roadshow Helps Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Expand Market Reach
KOTA BHARU, May 30 (Bernama) -- The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) is offering Bumiputera entrepreneurs opportunities to participate in the Jelajah FAMA Pulau Pinang programme as a means to increase their income.
Penang FAMA director Mohd Hafiz Nurulhuda said the roadshow, which introduces signature products from the state, will enable entrepreneurs to promote popular local dishes, agro-food items, handicrafts, as well as Agro MADANI products.
'This initiative is part of the government's strategic effort to strengthen the entrepreneurial network and expand market access for Penang-based entrepreneurs to other states, particularly the East Coast,' he told reporters after the Jelajah FAMA Pulau Pinang @ Kelantan event at the Rural Transformation Centre in Tunjong, here today.

Meanwhile, Wong, in a Facebook post, said he looked forward to continuing the two countries' close partnerships for the benefit of the people. During the visit, Anwar delivered a special address at the 22nd Shangri-La Dialogue. Fahmi Urges Malaysian Students In Japan To Embrace Disciplined Work Culture
GENERAL By Anas Abu Hassan TOKYO, May 31 (Bernama) -- Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has encouraged Malaysian students in Japan to adopt the country's disciplined and efficient work culture upon returning home, to contribute to national development. He also urged them to explore work opportunities in Japan to gain valuable experience that could benefit Malaysia in the long run. 'Insya-Allah, Malaysia is in a good position now, economically and in its role as ASEAN Chair. 'I hope you'll take full advantage of your time here to seek out work experience, and then return to help build the nation,' he said during a dinner and engagement session with members of the Malaysian diaspora and student community here tonight. Fahmi is in Tokyo to attend the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity Ministerial Meeting (APT-MM) 2025, held from May 30 to 31. The meeting aims to boost regional cooperation in telecommunications and information technology. Also present at the gathering were Deputy Head of Mission at the Malaysian Embassy in Tokyo Anwar Udzir and embassy staff. MIDA, UNGCMYB Forge Partnership To Boost ESG Adoption, Sustainable Investment
BUSINESS KUALA LUMPUR, May 31 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and the UN Global Compact Network Malaysia and Brunei (UNGCMYB) have forged a strategic partnership to ignite a new era of sustainable and responsible investment in Malaysia. In a joint statement, both parties said that the partnership, sealed through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed earlier, is committed to accelerating the adoption of environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles among businesses, laying the foundation for Malaysia's transition towards a more sustainable and inclusive economy. They said the MoU brings together MIDA's mandate as the country's principal investment promotion agency and UNGCMYB's expertise in corporate sustainability. They said UNGCMYB plays a vital role in supporting businesses in Malaysia and Brunei in aligning with global sustainability goals by providing essential resources, tools, and expert guidance. MIDA chief executive officer Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid said the collaboration aims to step up efforts to promote awareness, build capacity and encourage greater private sector participation in ESG initiatives, in line with the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI)'s Green Investment Strategy (GIS) launched last August. 'As Malaysia moves forward with our Net Zero 2050 agenda, we are seeing strong national commitment, policy clarity, and growing investor interest in green sectors,' he said. Meanwhile, UNGCMYB executive director Faroze Nadar said the MoU is a strategic step towards accelerating sustainable business practices across Malaysia. 'By combining our strengths in knowledge-sharing and ESG capacity-building, we can bridge the gap between awareness and tangible action, ensuring businesses are equipped to meet both the sustainable development goals and evolving market demands,' he added. The joint statement added that the MoU will involve collaborative initiatives that facilitate multi-stakeholder participation in sustainability programmes, including the joint organisation of conferences, roundtables, and selected development programmes focusing on ESG and broader sustainability topics.
