KOTA TINGGI: A total of 21 Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) officers and personnel undergoing military training in Pakistan and India are safe, said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
He said 18 of them are attending courses at military colleges in India, while the remaining three are based in Pakistan.
'They are not in areas affected by the ongoing conflict, and most are expected to complete their courses by the end of this year.
'At present, all are safe, but we will continue to monitor the situation closely,' he told reporters after launching the Boustead Plantations Bhd Jana Veteran Project at Telok Sengat Estate here today.
Mohamed Khaled added that the ministry would continue to assess developments in both South Asian countries before deciding on the next course of action.
Tensions between Pakistan and India have reportedly led to at least 43 deaths, with Islamabad claiming that 31 civilians were killed in Indian airstrikes and cross-border gunfire. New Delhi, meanwhile, reported at least 12 fatalities in retaliatory attacks by Pakistan.
India launched the strikes two weeks after accusing Pakistan of backing an attack on tourists in Indian-administered Kashmir - a claim denied by Islamabad.
Pakistan military spokesperson Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry was reported as saying that five Indian fighter jets were shot down near the border.
Meanwhile, the Jana Veteran Project, spearheaded by Boustead Plantations in collaboration with the Armed Forces Veterans Affairs Department (JHEV ATM), aims to help MAF veterans generate stable income through agriculture while supporting the government's food security agenda.
The pilot project at Telok Sengat Estate focuses on fertigation farming of ginger and chili, with Boustead Plantations initially preparing 15 fertigation plots across 12 hectares for ginger cultivation before expanding to other crops.

The party's Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the opinion expressed by Sungai Buloh Pas Chief Zaharuddin Muhammad does not reflect the party's position and runs counter to Pas's Constitution and principles. Takiyuddin In a statement on June 24, the MAF said the promotion ceremony was officiated by Chief of Defence Force General Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaffar on June 23 and witnessed by all service chiefs. SHAH ALAM – Pas has distanced itself from remarks made by a local politician who questioned the appointment of Datuk Johny Lim Eng Seng as Lieutenant General of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), warning that disciplinary action may be taken. The party's Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the opinion expressed by Sungai Buloh Pas Chief Zaharuddin Muhammad does not reflect the party's position and runs counter to Pas's Constitution and principles. 'Racial attitudes or racism in any form or colour have no place in Pas and they do not align with the national culture and aspirations of this country. 'The appointment of Lim as a Lieutenant General of the ATM is a historic event that should be celebrated by all Malaysians, not questioned or belittled merely because of his ethnic background," Takiyuddin said. Zaharuddin had earlier drawn criticism after media reports revealed he questioned Lim's appointment solely due to his Chinese ethnicity. Takiyuddin also stated that the achievements and progress of any Malaysian should be recognised and honoured, regardless of their background. 'The abilities, achievements, progress and success of any Malaysian in any field should be celebrated and not otherwise. 'Therefore, Pas will not hesitate to take disciplinary action against any member who violates party discipline, including displaying insensitive behaviour that undermines national unity and causes disharmony and suspicion within society," he said. PAS distances itself from leader's racial remarks on landmark promotion of Chinese lieutenant-general

Takiyuddin said the post was the personal opinion of the individual involved and 'entirely contrary' to PAS' policies and values. — Bernama photo KUALA LUMPUR (June 26): PAS today said it does not support a social media post by one of its leaders that questioned the appointment of Datuk Johnny Lim Eng Seng as a Lieutenant General in the Malaysian Armed Forces. In a press statement, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said the post was the personal opinion of the individual involved and 'entirely contrary' to PAS' policies and values. 'The appointment of Datuk Johnny Lim is a historic event that should be celebrated by all Malaysians, not questioned, much less belittled simply because of his ethnic background,' he said. Takiyuddin said PAS has long-standing commitment to Malaysia's multiracial society and warned members against making divisive remarks. 'Racism or racial prejudice in any form has no place in PAS,' he added. He also called on its members to adhere to its constitution and official decisions, stating that disciplinary action may be taken against those who violate its principles. Takiyuddin also highlighted that the party had recently amended its constitution to open membership for all Malaysians regardless of race or religion, which he said reflects its support for national unity. The post in question was made by Sungai Buloh PAS chief Zaharudin Muhammad, who speculated that Malaysia's 50th prime minister in 2058 could be a Chinese individual, framing the scenario as a possible outcome of Johnny's promotion. The post has since been deleted. Zaharudin, who is the son-in-law of PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, came under fire from several quarters, including PKR youth chief Kamil Munim and DAP's Lim Guan Eng. Johnny's promotion marked a historic milestone, as he became the first Malaysian Chinese officer to be promoted to the rank of lieutenant-general in the armed forces. — Malay Mail Johnny Lim Eng Seng PAS Takiyuddin Hassan Zaharudin Muhammad

PAS distances from controversial FB post, says Johnny Lim's appointment should be celebrated

PETALING JAYA: PAS takes seriously the controversy involving a social media post by one of the party's division leaders speculating on the country's future leadership, says Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan. The PAS secretary-general, in a statement Wednesday (June 25), emphasised that the post, or any similar posts, were the personal views of the individual and completely contrary to the official policies, resolutions, and vision of PAS. "PAS is committed to and upholds the principles and reality of racial and religious diversity as a unique and valuable characteristic of our society that must be nurtured in the best possible way. "Racism or racialism in any form or colour has no place in PAS, nor does it fit with the broader culture and national aspirations of this country," he said. Takiyuddin said the appointment of Mejar Jeneral Datuk Johnny Lim Eng Seng as a Leftenan Jeneral of the Malaysian Armed Forces is a historic event that should be celebrated by all citizens. "The abilities, achievements, progress, and success of any Malaysian in any field is good news for everyone. Congratulations from PAS to Leftenan Jeneral Johnny Lim," he said. Takiyuddin also said PAS continually reminds members to remain cautious and careful in their actions. "Every PAS member should always remember that one of the conditions for becoming a PAS member is loyalty and obedience to the party. "Therefore, PAS will not hesitate to take disciplinary action against any member who violates party discipline, including insensitive behavior that tarnishes national unity aspirations and creates disharmony and suspicion in society," he added. Earlier Wednesday, Sungai Buloh PAS chief Zaharudin Muhammad had come under fire from political leaders for suggesting, in a now-deleted Facebook post, that Malaysia will have its first Chinese prime minister by 2058 following Leftenan Jeneral Lim's appointment as the first Chinese three-star general.
