Napoli weigh up Jack Grealish move but will not match his Man City wages
Napoli will not match Jack Grealish's Manchester City wages as they weigh up whether to make an offer for him.
Grealish is searching for a new club after being left out of Manchester City's Club World Cup squad, as first revealed by Telegraph Sport.
It is anticipated that Grealish's future will not be resolved quickly, given the fact City paid £100 million to sign him from Aston Villa. There is also the significant issue of Grealish's City wages, which are in the region of £300,000 a week.
Napoli showed an interest in Grealish in the January transfer window and head coach Antonio Conte rates the 29-year-old. But the Italians are yet to make a move for Grealish this summer as they weigh up whether they believe a deal could be done.
Napoli are already clear that they will not match Grealish's wages and it could be that City would have to fund as much as 50 per cent of the England international's salary to make a move realistic.
Grealish is expected to attract interest from the Premier League and overseas, but clubs may well wait until later in the transfer window to make a move.
City are optimistic they will receive offers to sell Grealish permanently, but other sources believe an initial loan move is more likely. It is unclear whether Grealish has a preference in terms of his next move, but the former Aston Villa captain is known to be desperate to give himself the best possible chance of winning his England place back in time for next summer's World Cup.
Thomas Tuchel, the England head coach, has said that he loves Grealish, but has suggested he needs to move to a club competing in European competition in order to play his way back into contention.
Napoli will compete in next summer's Champions League, having won Serie A. But Tottenham Hotspur, who will be one of England's representatives in the competition, are not expected to enter the race to sign Grealish.

WSL to expand from 12 to 14 clubs with relegation to remain in place for women's top tier
THE Women's Super League is set to increase from 12 teams to 14 by the end of the 2026-2027 season. Two second tier sides will also be eligible for promotion to the top flight from the end of next term, following a vote involving clubs. 3 3 And changes will be subject to agreement from the FA's board. New proposals for the expansion of the WSL were voted for on Monday with all clubs backing the move to expand the growth of the division. While there were fears relegation could be halted, this stipulation will be maintained as part of women's top-flight football competition. And the second tier, which was this year rebranded as Women's Super League Two (WSL 2) will also retain the same number of teams which is currently 12. However at the end of next season the top two sides from the women's second tier will be automatically promoted into the WSL. And the team finishing bottom in the women's top division will face a play-off battle against the WSL 2's third-placed side with a top-flight spot at stake. Clubs competing in WSL 2 are also expected to function as professional outfits following a push to improve minimum standards across the division. Since the 2019-20 campaign the WSL has featured 12 teams after increasing in size from an 11-team division. 3 In its present set-up only one side ends the season getting relegated from the league, with the team that finishes 12th dropping down a division. Once the WSL has expanded to 14 teams, the side that finishes bottom in 2027-28 will be automatically relegated with WSL 2 champions earning promotion. Clubs that finish in the top-flight's top three positions will continue to earn places in Champions League competition.

Arsenal suffer major transfer blow as one of their top targets decides to join Barcelona instead as Mikel Arteta is left playing catch-up
Athletic Bilbao winger and Arsenal target Nico Williams has informed suitors of his desire to join Barcelona following positive talks. Williams, 22, has been subject to interest from Arsenal, Barcelona and Bayern Munich. He impressed at last summer's Euros, teaming up with Barcelona star Yamine Lamal as Spain took home the crown. That campaign marked Williams as one of the most promising wingers in the world as he opened the scoring in Spain's 2-1 final win over England. Despite interest from the Emirates, Williams seems likely to stay in Spain having told those involved in talks of his preference for the Camp Nou. He previously held talks with German champions Bayern Munich as well. The news is a significant blow for Arsenal who have promised a big summer ahead in this transfer window. 'It's going to be a big one and we are very excited about it,' said manager Mikel Arteta previously. 'The way we planned the first five summers, they were going to be very big and they were going to have different objectives.'
