Pakistan hosts 8th International Army Team Spirit event in Kharian
Pakistan Army hosted the 8th edition of the International Pakistan Army Team Spirit (PATS) Competition at Kharian Garrison, drawing participation from local and international military teams.
The 60-hour-long, high-intensity military exercise focused on patrolling in semi-mountainous terrain and was designed to enhance combat skills, adaptability, and teamwork through a shared exchange of tactics and innovative techniques.
Seven teams from the Pakistan Army, a team from the Pakistan Navy, and 15 teams from friendly countries took part in the competition.
The exercise has evolved into a prestigious platform for military-to-military engagement and professional development.
Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest. He praised the participants for their exceptional professionalism, resilience, and commitment shown throughout the exercise.
'The Pakistan Army is proud of its values of character, courage, and competence. These traits have been consistently demonstrated in our fight against terrorism,' General Munir stated.
Held in the rugged hills of Punjab, the competition underscored Pakistan's ongoing efforts to promote regional military cooperation and enhance operational preparedness in realistic conditions.
Earlier, the COAS on Thursday said that the peace and liberty enjoyed in Pakistan today are the outcome of the sacrifices made by the country's armed forces.
The army chief made these remarks during an investiture ceremony held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During the ceremony, General Asim Munir conferred military honours, including the Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Tamgha-i-Basalat, on officers and soldiers of the Pakistan Army.

Pak-Tajik 'Dosti-II' exercise concludes
Six-day Pakistan-Tajikistan Joint Counter Terrorism Exercise Dosti-ll concluded on Saturday at Fakhrobod Base, Tajikistan. The Joint Exercise was conducted from 4-9 in which 2 x Combat Teams from Light Commando Battalion, Pakistan Army and 4 x Combat Teams from Tajikistan Special Forces participated, said a news release issued by the ISPR. Besides harnessing the historic military to military relations between both friendly countries, Dosti-II Exercise was aimed at refining the drills, procedures and techniques involved in Counter Terrorism operations through joint training.

‘Rang-e-Pakistan' exhibition: Tribute paid to freedom movement & national culture through art
FAISALABAD: In celebration of Pakistan's Independence Day, a vibrant and inspiring art exhibition titled Rang-e-Pakistan was inaugurated at the Institute of Art and Design, Government College University Faisalabad. The exhibition is a joint initiative of GC University Lahore, GC University Faisalabad, and the Inter-University Consortium for the Promotion of Social Sciences, aiming to honour Pakistan's rich cultural heritage, the legacy of the freedom movement, and the heroic contributions of the armed forces. The inaugural ceremony was graced by prominent academic and civic leaders, including Prof Dr Rauf-i-Azam Vice Chancellor of GC University Faisalabad, Prof Dr Muhammad Umar Chaudhry Vice Chancellor of GC University Lahore, Muhammad Murtaza Noor Coordinator of the Inter-University Consortium, Prof Dr Khanwal Amin Vice Chancellor Government College Women University Faisalabad, Vice Chancellor Faisalabad Medical University Prof Dr Zafar Ali Chaudhary, Member Syndicate GCUF Ms Farzana Musaddiq, representatives from the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce, leading social and intellectual figures of the city, Ms Tehmina Afzal, Incharge of the Institute of Art and Design at GCUF, Ms Amna Anwar Khan, Incharge of Fine Arts at GC University Lahore, faculty members, and a large number of students from both universities. The exhibition features an impressive collection of paintings, drawings, and mixed media artworks created by faculty members and students from both institutions. These artworks portray the diverse colours, emotions, and ideologies that define Pakistan's identity and legacy. Speaking at the event, Prof Dr Rauf-i-Azam stated Rang-e-Pakistan is not just an art exhibition, it is the expression of a national spirit. Through these works, our younger generation connects with the spirit of the Pakistan Movement, and the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal. Art and culture represent the collective identity and heritage of a nation. Prof Dr Muhammad Umar Chaudhry praised the initiative, calling it a timely and constructive activity, and said Intellectual and cultural exchanges between universities greatly enhance the academic environment. We are grateful to the Inter-University Consortium for making this vision a reality. Muhammad Murtaza Noor, Coordinator of the Inter-University Consortium, remarked this exhibition is not only a showcase of artistic expression, but also a practical platform for inter-university understanding, mutual collaboration, and intellectual growth. Azan and Shamyl lead run tables
Pakistan's new cricket stars Azan Awais and Shamyl Hussain lead the runs table in the recently-concluded Shaheen's tour of England. Shaheens, headed by Pakistan's national test- team vice captain Saud Shakeel, won the ODI series 2/1 while the two three-day matches were resultless. The series played in Kent, Hove and Canterbury grounds, saw the young blood dominate the proceedings through their consistency and wining partnerships. Azan played 7 innings and toped the run table with a tally of 276 while Shamyl, who was benched in the first two matches, scored 193 in 5 innings. Both average around 39 per innings. Their partnership of over one hundred in the crucial third one day decided the fate of the ODI contest that hung in balance. The two laid the foundation of the biggest run-chase of the series set at 261. Three-day matches were weather-affected and produced some quality batting from Shaheens including two centuries by Rohail Nazir and Ali Zaryab respectively while Amir Hamza, Obaid Shah, Musa Khan and Mehran Mumtaz did well with the ball. The overall batting honours again were shared by Azan and Shamyl among the Shaheen batters whose total runs tallies surpassed other performers. As per PCB website, Shamyl top-scored for his team in the three matches combined runs. In the list of top scorers from both sides, he is number 2 behind England's Luc Benkenstein, whose series tally was 197. Ali Zaryab (166), Haider Ali (159), Rohail Nazir (136) Saud Shakeel (128) and Muhammad Suleman were the other main run getters. Omair Bin Yousuf (77) Maaz Sadaqat (61) were the other batters with some the two, Shamyl's strike rate was 74 while Azan's was 53, befitting the battling styles of both, the former being a fluent stroke player while the latter a patient accumulator. The two also lead last year's first class run tables with Azan the highest run getter in Quaid-i-Azam Trophy's with 844 runs helping his region, Sialkot to win the title. Shamyl Hussain was the second highest run maker in the President's Trophy amassed 727, including the tournament's fastest double hundred and guided his department, PTV, to clinch the trophy. The team is returning home today.
