Paralympian vanishes after flying to Vegas to watch WrestleMania 41

New York Post28-04-2025

A Paralympic cyclist from the UK is missing after traveling to Las Vegas earlier this month in hopes of attending WrestleMania 41, his loved ones said Sunday.
Samuel Ruddock, 35, never checked out of his hostel April 15 and left some of his belongings behind, his mother, Fran Ruddock, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Ruddock, who has cerebral palsy, traveled from the UK to the US on April 13 with plans to attend WrestleMania 41 at Allegiant Stadium on April 19-20.
On April 16, he shared a video on Instagram showing him riding through downtown Las Vegas in the passenger seat of a convertible Austin Healey with a man identified only as 'Steve.'

At the end of the video, 'Steve' drops Ruddock off at the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop, made famous by the TV show 'Pawn Stars.'
'He flew on the 13th, I've got confirmation that he landed, I absolutely know Sam was in Vegas,' Ruddock's friend, Lucy Earl, told The Guardian. 'The concerning part is he went silent from the 16th and, because he is such a big presence on social media, people were quite fast to notice.'
Earl said she contacted police in Las Vegas as well as The Bungalows Hostel on Las Vegas Boulevard, where Ruddock was staying, to try and find out more information.
Shortly before his disappearance, he reportedly messaged his friends asking for money, his mother said.

On April 20, friend Lucy Hatton reached out to the United States Embassy in London for help.

She last heard from Ruddock on April 16, she told the Review-Journal.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and The Bungalows Hostel did not respond immediately to Post requests for comment.

He also coaches American football at Loughborough University in the UK, where he trained for the Paralympics.
'He is larger than life, he has a wonderful soul,' his mother said.
Cycling authorities in the UK have urged anyone with information to get in touch with police.
'British Cycling understands that para-cyclist Sam Ruddock was reported missing to UK and US police and Interpol after not being heard from since Wednesday, 16 April 2025, while visiting Las Vegas, USA,' the sports organization said in a statement.
'We urge anyone who has been in contact with Sam since 16 April or may have any information of his whereabouts to contact their local police department as soon as possible.'

CCSD police seize 35 guns during recent school year

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Clark County School District police seized almost three dozen firearms during this past school year, finding them in classrooms, backpacks, and even students' homes. Officers confiscated a total of 35 guns from Aug. 2024 to May 2025, according to the Clark County School District Police Department. That is a decrease compared to the previous school year, where 53 were found. Clark County School District rolls out new weapons detection system Most of the firearms officers located in the 2024-2025 year were in high schools. However, in a few instances, middle schoolers were caught with firearms. Police went to JD Smith Middle School located in North Las Vegas on Mar. 24 after an alarm was activated. According to an arrest report, administrators found a gun on a student after searching him based on a suspicion. He was already on probation. CCSDPD said officers only found one round in the magazine; four other rounds were reported missing. On Mar. 7, officers were dispatched to Cimarron High School. Administrators had located a pink gun that was hidden in a student's backpack. According to police, the gun had one round in the chamber and three in the magazine. The student told police he was 'door checking vehicles in the nearby apartments last week and he came across an unlocked vehicle in which he found and searched a purse that was inside the vehicle. He located and took the gun and decided to bring it to school today,' according to an arrest report. 8 News Now also obtained a video from CCSD showing a teenager at Spring Valley High School running around campus late last year. The student had a gun with several rounds in his backpack, and the gun did not have a serial number, according to an arrest report. School police were tipped off on March 27 to a student at Legacy High School posting photos on Instagram holding a gun and a liquor bottle. Police said when officers searched him, he didn't have the gun. He told officers it was his mother's gun that she kept in a safe. He '…then spontaneously uttered that it was easy to break the lock of the box…stated that he did it with a flathead screwdriver and that all he needed to do was push down on the lock and it popped and broke open,' according to an arrest report. The district's records showed Legacy High School was connected to eight gun confiscations in the 2024-2025 school year. Several of the students arrested at Legacy had gang affiliations. Authorities investigating a new social media post by a New Orleans jail escapee on the run

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Authorities announced Thursday they are investigating another social media post, the second in a week, showing a man who identifies himself as Antoine Massey, a fugitive still on the lam after escaping more than two weeks ago from a New Orleans jail. The latest Instagram post, which appears to have been published Wednesday, shows a man standing in front of a blue car who says he is '#AntoineMassey' and has the same distinctive facial tattoos. Authorities are not sure when or where the photo reportedly showing Massey was taken. But they 'are treating the post as if it's real,' a senior law enforcement official said. The official spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the official was not authorized to publicly discuss the ongoing investigation into the May 16 escape by 10 inmates. The group yanked up a faulty cell door, crawled through a hole in a wall behind a toilet where steel bars had been cut and then scaled a barbed wire fence using blankets for protection. It was one of the largest jailbreaks in recent U.S. history. State and local officials have heaped criticism on the management of Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson, who has largely blamed the jailbreak on poor infrastructure and the inability to make needed improvements at the 10-year-old $150 million facility. Eight of the escaped men have been apprehended, while Massey and another fugitive, convicted murderer Derrick Groves, remain on the run. In the Instagram post, the person claiming to be Massey states he is 'innocent.' Massey, 32, faces charges of kidnapping, rape, domestic battery involving strangulation and motor vehicle theft. 'We would encourage Mr. Massey to turn himself in and go through proper legal channels for his day in court,' said Deputy U.S. Marshal Brian Fair in an emailed statement. He added it was 'unknown at this time' if Massey posted the photo or when it was taken. Earlier this week, other videos made by Massey surfaced on social media, leading authorities to raid a New Orleans home a little over two miles (three kilometers) from the jail, where they believed the videos were produced. But they said they only found some of the clothing they believed he wore in the videos. Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry urged Massey and Groves on Tuesday to 'quit the hide-and-seek game' and turn themselves in.
