Dashcam footage as banned driver reversed into police on M4
'The utterly reckless and selfish driving which you displayed involved doing anything and everything to try to get away,' said Recorder Andrew Hammond as he jailed the defendant.
Prosecutor Nuhu Gobir said a police officer in an unmarked car spotted a Skoda Octavia driving on Malpas Road in Newport at around 2.20am. The car's front and rear number plates didn't match, and the officer suspected the vehicle had been stolen.
A stinger was deployed near Malpas Fire Station, and this punctured the car's front tyres. However, Robjohn continued up the slip road and on to the westbound M4.
On the motorway, a number of police vehicles boxed Robjohn in against the central barrier and brought him to a stop.
As one officer got out to arrest him, Robjohn revved his engine, reversed, and 'collided heavily' with the police car behind, Mr Gobir said.
The officer arrested the defendant – who was on his phone. Checks revealed Robjohn was disqualified at the time, meaning he also had no insurance.
Inside the car, officers found tools worth a total of £1,133.08 which had been stolen from B&Q in Cwmbran.
Robjohn admitted dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance, fraudulent use of registration plates, and handling stolen goods.

The defendant also admitted burglaries at three businesses in Cardiff on September 30, 2023, and breaching bail by failing to attend court.
Mr Gobir said the managers of B&M and PureGym on Excelsior industrial estate in Cardiff and B&M in Pentwyn all received messages reporting break-ins at the stores.
Robjohn and his co-defendant David Large used a Citroen Berlingo van to 'ram raid' the businesses, but they were both caught at the scene in Pentwyn.
The court heard 43-year-old Large, of Ellwood Close in Trowbridge was sentenced to a community order for the burglaries.
Mr Gobir said the defendant had 24 previous convictions for 50 offences, and that he had 'a very bad driving record'.
Robjohn's defence counsel said his best mitigation for the driving offences was his guilty pleas.
He said the 39-year-old defendant had viewed these proceedings as a wake-up call, and told him: 'I'm finished. I'm going to look after my family from now on and do the right thing'.
The court heard that the defendant had already served the equivalent to a 21-month sentence in custody awaiting sentence and on licence.
Robjohn, of Wakehurst Place in St Mellons, was jailed for a total of 21 months, meaning he will be released from prison imminently. He was banned from driving for three years, and must pass an extended retest.

Police are cracking down on ‘boy racers' in Blackwood Asda
Growing concerns from residents and businesses regarding 'boy racers' has sparked a police crackdown on the area. Officers are now actively patrolling the area and have said 'action will be taken' when necessary, including seizure of vehicles. Commenting on the issue councillor Kevin Ethridge said: 'Complaints have been received from the residents and obviously we had a huge problem with boy racers before. It does seem they've gone to the Asda car park now. 'As a councillor I'm pleased the police have acted so quickly on the complaints because we don't want this spiralling into the high street. 'They've put resources into any anti-social behaviour which is occurring in the Asda car park, and I would hope that action is taken by the Asda store as well because we need to work in partnership.' Gwent Police said: 'We are aware of ongoing concerns from residents and local businesses regarding antisocial driving and car meet activity taking place in and around the Asda car park in Blackwood, particularly during evening hours. 'Dangerous and inconsiderate driving – including excessive revving, speeding, drifting, and unnecessary noise – is not only a nuisance, but it poses a real risk to public safety. 'Officers are actively patrolling the area and will take action where offences are identified. This includes issuing warnings, seizing vehicles under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act, and prosecuting dangerous driving offences.' Cris Davies wrote: 'Confiscate and crush.' Justin Merralls said: 'Try a different approach. Educate Don't intimidate.' Anger as family of 10 'barged their way out of Welsh pub without paying bill'
A family of ten "barged their way" out of a popular Welsh pub without paying their full bill, the landlady has claimed. Kelly Jollife, who runs the Greyhound Inn in Usk, said the family visited the pub on Sunday, July 27. She alleged they each ordered a starter and a main course and consumed them completely before refusing to pay for anything other than the drinks. Kelly claimed they then "barged past" the pub's chefs before departing in two vehicles. Kelly, 49, who has been the landlady at the pub for eight years, said she was horrified by the "brazen" act of "selfishness". Police have confirmed they are investigating an allegation of theft. Kelly said: "They looked at me as they were walking out as if to say, 'you can't do anything anyway so, tough'.", reports Wales Online. "When they first came in they were not particularly nice to begin with. I had explained to them it was table service but they kept insisting on coming up to the bar. That kind of thing. They were gonna do it their way. "So they ordered starters, mains and ate all the starters, then half way through their mains the waiter went to check if everything was ok, and they said, 'no it is all s**t. Everything is s**t. It is all just shocking'. "Then the waiter said 'do you want me to get the manager' to which they said, 'yes, but after we have finished'. "They proceeded to eat everything. We had 150 people in house, and 140 of them left happy. Everybody, was happy. "I was then called and I said 'they are going to have to come and speak with me. I want full payment - they have eaten everything'. "The waiter told them this and they replied with 'no - we are not paying. We will pay for the drinks but we are not paying for the food'. This was obviously unacceptable. "All of a sudden they started walking out. I went straight to the table with the card machine to say 'you need to pay this bill' - it was £328 worth. They put £44 on the table in cash, and walked out. "I followed them down the path with some of my chefs as they are bigger than me, and one of the older guys in the family started fronting up the chefs. "The chefs just said 'look, you are an embarrassment, just pay the bill'. "There was not a fist fight or anything, it was mainly verbal. As I was shouting 'you need to pay your bill' they got in the car and left the property." Kelly said she is in contact with Gwent Police regarding the allegation, and said there had been an overwhelming response on social media after she posted about the incident. She said the post was aimed at "embarrassing" those allegedly involved, adding: "It is not the way to behave." She added: "But the response I had on Facebook was just phenomenal. Everybody is so supportive." A Gwent Police spokesperson said: "We're investigating an allegation of theft in Usk Road, Llantrisant, which occurred around 3pm on Sunday 27 July. "Officers are speaking to several people to establish the circumstances and enquiries continue."
