Amazon's reduce best-selling vacuum shoppers say is 'better than Shark' to £150

Daily Record4 days ago
Buyers claim the discounted cleaning gadget rivals big name brands.
Amazon has slashed the price of one of its top-selling vacuum cleaners, which customers have compared to pricier models from Dyson and Shark. The Ultenic U20 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner usually sells for £239.99 but is currently on offer for just £149.99.
The cordless vacuum cleaner boasts a 600W brushless motor and advanced noise reduction technology, promising to operate 40 percent quieter than traditional models. The floor brush features a four-layer design: stiff bristles (for collecting carpet hair), V-shaped silicone flaps (for deeper cleaning), soft PP bristles (to capture fine dust particles), and durable nylon (to remove pet hair and prevent tangling).
Ultenic's U20 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner comes with an extendable arm to reach difficult areas such as under low furniture. The floor brush is equipped with an integrated green light to expose hidden dust.
Meanwhile, over at Shark, shoppers can find discounts on bundle deals. For example, this Classic Upright Cleaning Bundle includes a corded upright vacuum cleaner, with two floor modes, and a corded floor mop with three settings.
Normally priced at £369.98, it is currently on sale for £281, reports the Mirror.
Dyson also has some offers available, including a discount on its best-selling V11 Advanced vacuum. It has been reduced by £80, now available for £349.99, down from £429.99.
Shoppers looking to invest in a robot vacuum can snag a bargain at Argos, where the Shark Matrix Plus 2-in-1 Cordless Robot Vacuum Cleaner and Mop is currently on offer for £240, down from its original price of £400, saving them a hefty £160. Although the same deal was available on Shark's website, the gadget has since sold out.
The Ultenic U20 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner boasts an impressive customer satisfaction score of 4.8 from Amazon users, with over 1,000 reviews to its name. A satisfied customer praised it as a 'lovely vacuum' with 'good suction', adding: "I have always had a Dyson or Shark. But this is a great alternative, and to be honest, I think it is better than my Shark one."

Looking to beat the heat as temperatures continue to rise?
Then look no further than Dunelm's White Rechargeable USB Desk Fan that has an almost perfect five star rating for its small, yet mighty, design that means it works "even on the lowest setting."
Easy to connect via a USB cable that can be connected to laptops and computers, this desk fan is perfect for those who find themselves working from home on these sweaty, humid summer days.
However, it doesn't need to remain plugged-in, as the rechargeable element and compact six-inch design means it can be taken anywhere, even placed on a bedside table overnight on summer nights thanks to its "quiet" operation.
It's finished with four speed settings to choose from and an adjustable angle that can help direct the cool breeze where it is needed, unlike other models that can sometimes be stuck in one place.
As for Dunelm's own mini desk fan, it has received an impressive 4.8 rating from impressed shoppers who say that, despite its size, it is "surprisingly powerful" and "a literal life-saver" during this kind of weather.
One five-star review read: "Fantastic fan, surprisingly powerful, quiet, lasts for quite a long time when charged, very hard to find a decent small rechargeable fan but this is it, will be buying more!"
Beat the heat with Dunelm's White Rechargeable USB Desk Fan that costs just £25.
Another shopper expressed their contentment, stating they were 'far very pleased with it'.
They elaborated: "To try it out, I started vacuuming the house (I had already done it the day before) and couldn't believe how much dust, etc it picked up. The lights on it let you see where the dust is."
Continuing their praise, the same buyer remarked: "It is excellent on the stairs, using it hand-held and the pull-out brush. Having previously had a Dyson and a Shark I would say this cleaner is better.
"Great that it stands upright too. Coped very well with picking up pet hair and did not get tangled in brush."
However, some customers encountered issues with suction power, with one noting: "Very lightweight and easy to set up. Battery life is accurately described.
"However, it is not a particularly powerful suction vacuum cleaner. You need to run over the same area several times to get a suitable clean."
Another customer stated: "Having previously had a Shark cordless vacuum, I was looking to replace like for like. However, having read all the positive reviews on the Ultenic U20, I decided to go for it.
"The Ultenic arrived the next day and was super easy to put together. It's lightweight with a decent-sized dust bin that's really easy to empty and clean."

'Superb' magnetic charger that is a 'must have' for Oasis concert gets £100 slash

'This sleek and compact power bank is perfect for carrying with you wherever you go.' One essential device to have on hand, especially if you are travelling or going to late night events, is a portable charger. Able to give your smartphone a much needed battery boost at a moment's notice, these chargers easily become your everyday companion. However, one issue that comes with a variety of power banks is that many require a long cable to connect with your phone. This can quickly become a hassle if you end up getting tangled in the wire and not being able to easily use your tech device. In order to combat this, many brands have now come out with magnetic chargers which are compatible with a variety of smartphones on the market, including Samsung and iPhone. These seamlessly attach to the back of your phone so you can continue having a free range of movement. One popular charger we found that won't break the bank is currently reduced on Amazon. Normally retailing for £129.99, shoppers can now buy the Matast Magnetic Charger for £28.49. This is ideal for events such as concerts as shoppers can easily capture their favourite songs without worrying about losing any battery. For example, those who were lucky enough to get their hands on some highly sought after Oasis tickets may want to consider bringing a portable charger with them to help store what may be once in a lifetime memories. The Manchester duo kicked off their highly anticipated reunion tour on July 4 in Cardiff and are set to entertain Scottish fans in Murrayfield Stadium in three sold out shows on August 8, 9 and 12. With the setlist featuring fan favourites such as Morning Glory, Champagne Supernova and Wonderwall, fans won't want to miss a single moment. To lend a helping hand, this magnetic charger can support wireless charging of up to 15W, and is said to give a 45 per cent power boost to an iPhone 15 in just 35 minutes. Alternatively, shoppers can connect their devices with a USB-C cable to match with a wider variety of devices, including tablets and Bluetooth headphones. Shoppers will also have added piece of mind with this charger as it comes with a digital display that shows the battery remaining in the power bank. With an impressive 10,000mAh battery built-in, many shoppers have raved over getting multiple charges out of the nifty power bank. Matast Magnetic Charger £129.99 £28.49 Amazon Buy Now Product Description Another popular magnetic charger on Amazon is the Azmuth Mag-Safe Power Bank. Dropped down from £34.99 to £27.99, shoppers can choose between either a black or blue device to best match their phone's aesthetic. Along with a display to show the power remaining, the device can charge up to five devices at once. Alternatively, Argos is selling the Juice 5000mAh Magnetic Slim Portable Power Bank for £24.99. Featuring a slim design, this device features a 15W magnetic ring and a 20W USB-C port to make a quick power boost easily accessible. However, this device does have a smaller battery than the other power banks. Back to the Matast Magnetic Charger, Amazon shoppers have awarded this handy device a 4.7 star rating, with over 1,000 people purchasing the nifty piece of tech in the last 30 days. One shopper praised: "Great magnetic power bank for my iPhone! It attaches securely, charges efficiently, and the battery life is impressive. Easy to carry and super practical for daily use." With another five-star reviewer adding: "This wireless charger is superb for travelling because it is easily portable and one does not need any cable. I have used it for two days in my trip to Turkey and it was really fast charging and its battery life is good. Highly recommended." However, one shopper was less pleased with the charger, writing: "Doesn't charge that fast how they said on the description and it doesn't work properly but good quality of product its feel premium." While another person noted about Android devices: "Charges my phone just fine. My one issue is the shape of the product. For a Samsung S24, most cases will come with a lip next to the camera lenses, which prevents the product from coming in full contact with the charging bit. It still works, but likely not as well as it's supposed to." Despite this, a top reviewer wrote: "This sleek and compact power bank is perfect for carrying with you wherever you go. I love its wireless capability, which means you don't have to worry about remembering your cables. Another great feature is that it automatically turns off when not in use, conserving energy. "The LED indicator is incredibly useful, as it shows you exactly how much charge is left—unlike my old one, where I was always guessing! Plus, it offers fast charging, making it a must-have for anyone constantly on the move." To buy the Matast Magnetic Charger, click HERE. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Samsung Galaxy phone gets even cheaper as it falls below £250

The Samsung Galaxy model has three main camera sensors, AI-powered zoom, a big battery and plenty of storage Samsung is renowned for some of the industry's high-performance phones on the market, look at the Galaxy S25 Ultra or its newest Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7. These come with a high cost, often reaching as much as £1,000 each, leaving some shoppers scouring for cheaper alternatives. Fortunately, Samsung has an offering for those of us who are more budget-conscious. The Galaxy A26, which hit the market in March 2025, was launched at a price of £299. And now Amazon is offering an ever cheaper price. In a new sale, the Prime retailer has slashed £50 off the price for a limited period. This means that customers can now bag a perfectly capable brand new Samsung Galaxy phone for £249, a price which is matched at the Samsung store too. Despite being at the budget end of the range, it still retains many features from Samsung's pricier models. For starters, it boasts three main camera sensors, including an ultra-wide, normal wide, and macro camera. While it doesn't have a telephoto zoom, it can use AI to zoom in up to 10x. Additionally, it offers a decent amount of storage for all photographic memories. With 256GB, it provides double the base storage capacity of an iPhone 16. Add to this six years of guaranteed software updates, and buyers can be confident that this Samsung device will serve them well for a considerable time. While it may not have as powerful a processor as the top-end Galaxy S25 models, it strikes a great balance for those looking to save a bit of money. Amazon is currently offering some top-notch budget smartphones, including the quirky Nothing Phone (3A), which sports a unique design on the back and is up for grabs at just £289. For those looking to spend even less, the HONOR X6c could be an option, discounted to £89.99 from its usual price of £129.99. It boasts a 120Hz display and a hefty 5300mAh battery. The Samsung Galaxy A26 has a 4.3-star rating on Amazon. One satisfied customer commented: "Great phone at a good price, good looking and nice clear screen." Another happy buyer remarked: "Surprisingly good for the price. It's a fair sized phone with a good camera and screen considering how cheap it is. Highly recommend." Yet another added: "I have used it for several days but I am very happy with the performance. Battery lasts all day with heavy usage, light weight." Some users, however, did report disappointing battery life despite its large capacity. As one person said: "Good phone - nothing out of the ordinary though. Battery runs out quickly."

Amazon.com seeks to end lawsuit claiming rice contaminated by heavy metals

July 29 (Reuters) - (AMZN.O), opens new tab urged a federal judge to dismiss a proposed class action over its alleged sale of rice tainted by arsenic and other "heavy metals," denying the accusation it fraudulently concealed contamination. In a filing late on Friday in Seattle federal court, Amazon said the presence of heavy metals in rice was a "decades-old, well-known issue" that was easy to discover, and the plaintiffs did not claim there were more metals than regulators allowed. Amazon also said Section 230 of the federal Communications Decency Act shields online platforms from liability over content from third parties, such as rice sellers. Lawyers for the plaintiffs did not immediately respond on Tuesday to requests for comment. The lawsuit on May 23 covered 18 types of rice sold through Amazon, including from brands such as Ben's Original and Amazon-owned Whole Foods' 365. Plaintiffs Ashley Wright and Merriman Blum said they would not have bought or would have paid less for their Iberia basmati rice, one of the products, had they known it was contaminated or Amazon never tested it for heavy metals. Exposure to heavy metals has been associated with nervous system problems, immune system suppression and kidney damage. It has also been associated with autism spectrum disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in young children. The lawsuit followed a study, opens new tab by the nonprofit Healthy Babies, Bright Futures, which found arsenic in all 145 rice samples purchased nationwide, cadmium in all but one sample, and lead and mercury in more than one-third of tested samples. The case is Wright et al v Inc, U.S. District Court, Western District of Washington, No. 25-00977.
