Coastal Carolina vs Arizona live updates: College World Series score, highlights
Each team still alive in the NCAA tournament is 0-0 on Friday, with Coastal Carolina and Arizona kicking off the action at the College World Series.
The No. 13 Chanticleers are undefeated in postseason play, going 4-0 to win the Sun Belt tournament before finishing 3-0 in their own regional and 2-0 against No. 4 Auburn in super regionals. CCU will likely turn to ace Jacob Morrison, who holds a 11-0 record with a 2.15 ERA this season.

The Wildcats, meanwhile, had one of the best performances of the super regional round, as they fell in Game 1 of the Chapel Hill Super Regional to No. 5 North Carolina before rattling off back-to-back wins to reach Omaha, Nebraska. Arizona is 5-1 since falling to TCU in the Big 12 tournament championship in late May.
Coastal Carolina-Arizona should be quite the matchup as the opening-round game of the CWS.

New York Giants are NFL's third-most valuable franchise
The New York Giants have a long and storied history that only a few NFL franchises can claim. The Arizona Cardinals, Chicago Bears, and Green Bay Packers are the only three teams that have been active for longer than the Giants, but a team's longevity in the league doesn't have much bearing on what that organization is worth today. For example, the Dallas Cowboys joined the league in 1960, nearly 40 years after the Giants, yet they are the most valuable franchise in 2025. Sportico released its annual NFL valuations on Wednesday, and the Cowboys top the list. The Giants, though, finally broke the $10 billion mark and have become the third-most valuable team in the NFL. The Giants' valuation is up 34 percent from 2024. Below the team valuations listed on Sportico's site is an explanation of how they determined the values, what assets they counted, etc. Part of the explanation is as follows: 2025 Valuation: The sum of the enterprise value of an NFL franchise combined with the value of team-related businesses and real estate holdings. Team Value: NFL franchise valuation, derived from metrics by which football-team transactions occur, including aggregating local and national revenues and factoring in a team-specific multiplier. This represents the market value of the team itself, excluding related businesses held by its owners. It includes the value of each franchise's 3.13% interest in the league's properties, including NFL Films, NFL RedZone, 32 Equity (the private equity investment vehicle established by the NFL in 2013) and its digital platforms, which are acquired/dispossessed in tandem with the sale of a team. There is an additional category for Team-Related Businesses and Real Estate Holdings, which is broken down in a way that attempts to eliminate counting any money coming to the team that's not directly related to football operations. Of the top five teams with the highest valuation, only the Cowboys and Giants have missed the Super Bowl for the last 10 years, which proves that just because a franchise is worth more money, it doesn't mean they field a better football team. This year, the Giants have a chance to prove that they've located the train tracks and are getting back on board. Being one of the top-valued teams in the league, they need to start showing it on the field. They don't have to make the playoffs in 2025, although that is always the goal. If they can put together a winning season and pass the eye test, it will go a long way toward the team being worth what it's valued at. Suns add Steve Clifford to coaching staff as advisor
The Phoenix Suns are adding Steve Clifford to their coaching staff as an advisor, according to Michael Scotto. Clifford has an abundance of coaching experience as a head coach and an assistant. Steve has 23 seasons of NBA coaching experience, including head coaching stints with the Hornets and Magic. Phoenix recently announced its entire coaching staff, which is a fairly young one. It makes sense to add a seasoned veteran like Clifford to help out in the background. Phoenix's full staff: head coach Jordan Ott, and assistants Jesse Mermuys, DeMarre Carroll, Brian Randle, Chaisson Allen, John Little, Mike Muscala, and Sean Dwyer. The Suns also announced that Mateen Cleaves has joined its player development team as player development/leadership assistant. A find here: Ott and Clifford's paths crossed in Brooklyn. And he's reunited with former Hornets Mark Williams and Nick Richards on the up to date on every episode, subscribe to the pod on Apple, Spotify, YouTube, YouTube Podcasts, Amazon Music, Podbean, Castbox. 49ers DC Robert Saleh brushes off awful outing from rookie in NFL preseason debut
After losing Dre Greenlaw and De'Vondre Campbell in the offseason, the San Francisco 49ers are looking for someone to step up and fil major roles at the position besides four-time All-Pro Fred Warner. San Francisco hoped that one of their best options would be Nick Martin, one of their third-round picks from this year's draft. However, with 2023 sixth-round pick Dee Winters really impressing throughout training camp, Martin appears to be fighting for a rotational snaps. During the team's first preseason game of the year, a 30-9 loss to the Denver Broncos at Levi's Stadium, Martin was noticeable on the field, but not in the way he wanted to be. The rookie finished the day with five tackles, but his missed tackles were one of the fan base's talking points after the game, and while some are worried about his performance, 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh isn't one of them. 'Nick's doing a good job," Saleh told reporters on Tuesday. "Obviously, he's a big-time running hit linebacker, so he just has to learn how to control himself at the tackle point and come together. It's getting his feet underneath him and just get his body on the ball carrier until the speed of the game catches up to him. If that makes sense. But he's young. It was his first real live action in over a year and a half, so we're not concerned with some of those missed tackles. I think we'll get those cleaned up.' Martin, 22, was a three-star recruit out of Pleasant Grove High School in Texarkana, Texas before committing to Oklahoma State from 2021-24. During his time with the Cowboys, he appeared in 35 games and recorded 203 tackles (24 for a loss), seven sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and two fumbles recovered. He also earned All-Big 12 honors once. Despite the rough first week Saleh believes in the rookie linebacker and knows he has others to lean on in the locker room. "He's in a good place," Saleh said. "The good thing is, he's got a lot of teammates who have had first preseason games that didn't go so well. So, you just put it to the side and find a way to get better. He's going to have another opportunity to do that against Vegas.' A strong final two games in the preseason could earn Martin the top backup spot in the linebacker room, but more performances like the last, and he could be surpassed by Luke Gifford and Tatum Bethune, who both looked solid against Denver.
