Kendall Lamm praises Eagles for their culture while shading his former team

It's completely understandable if everyone hasn't thought about this. Still, it's hard to avoid asking the question, seeing as we've heard so many stories about the Miami Dolphins running Vic Fangio out of town.
What might they be thinking? Did they see the Philadelphia Eagles dismantle the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59? One could argue the Dolphins could have used that type of punch last season, but who cares, right? Their loss is Philadelphia's gain.

What's the point, you ask? It's great you asked that question. Had this been about Fangio only, Kendall Lamm's recent comments may not have caught our attention.
Kendall Lamm praises the Eagles' culture while taking a dig at his former team.
Things have been relatively quiet since the Eagles closed the door on spring workouts, but no one believes Philadelphia is sitting idle. There's always the constant spectre of news breaking from the NovaCare Complex at any time. We didn't know that news would come by way of a reserve lineman.
Lamm joined the Eagles by way of a one-year deal at the end of March. It seemed he'd compete for a reserve role along Philadelphia's offensive line. He recently spoke with ESPN. As you might expect, he was asked about his current team and his former. FinsXtra shared his quote:
Now, here's the thing. From a journalistic perspective, this is completely impartial (wink) but further evidence of a theory that is often expressed. Philadelphia is one of the league's model franchises. One can certainly do a lot worse than being an Eagles fan.

Lamm used words like "late" and "toxic". Ouch... He seemed equally excited about sharing his joy about being in Philadelphia and his opportunity to take a shot at his former team.
That brings us back to the Eagles' defensive coordinator hire in 2024. Upon further review, despite the complaints from players following Fangio's exit, it appears that Fangio may not have been one of Miami's true issues. None of the young players or the veterans in Philadelphia seems to be complaining. They have consistently praised Coach Fangio for his coaching style.
Too often, we mentioned players for being spoiled and coddled. Most of us weren't there, so we can't make that claim about the Dolphins. We don't know what's happening in Miami, but if that's the case, it may explain why they continue to underachieve in South Florida.
Stay tuned. Discussions might be born at some point about a talented team that doesn't want to be pushed past its comfort level for the sake of being better. When that happens, nothing good follows.

Did we mention how fortunate Birds fans are? It makes you appreciate Nick Sirianni more. No one had better make disparaging comments about his coaching style again.

Aaron Ekblad drops truth bomb on potential future with Panthers

The post Aaron Ekblad drops truth bomb on potential future with Panthers appeared first on ClutchPoints. Florida Panthers general manager Bill Zito is facing a problem this summer that probably every NHL executive would love to have — none of his unrestricted free agents want to leave. Advertisement After capturing a second consecutive Stanley Cup championship — and celebrating accordingly — all of Aaron Ekblad, Sam Bennett and Brad Marchand have made it clear they'd love to re-sign in Sunrise. Although there's only so much money to go around, it makes sense that the trio, who were all instrumental in Florida's title run, would want to stick around for the long haul. That includes Ekblad, who has been a heart and soul player for Florida since being selected first overall by the franchise in the 2014 NHL Draft. He's the leader in games played and points scored by a defenceman in Panthers franchise history. 'Conversations have been had,' Ekblad said on Saturday regarding contract extension talks, per team reporter Jameson Olive. 'Obviously, nothing material yet, but they'll be working on it. Things seem to come down to the last minute here.' Advertisement The 29-year-old added: 'I've spent 11 years here. … It's home, and I expect it to be home.' Panthers' Bill Zito has his work cut out for him this summer As of Saturday, the Panthers have $19 million in cap space to work with, per Puck Pedia. Ekblad, Bennett and Marchand are all pending unrestricted free agents on July 1, but they aren't the only ones. Tomas Nosek, Nico Sturm, Mackie Samoskevich, Jaycob Megna, Nate Schmidt and Vitek Vanecek also need new contracts before next season. Obviously, at least a couple of those players will be going to market on July 1. Ekblad played some of his best hockey of the season in the playoffs, and there have been rumblings that he will command upwards of $7.5 million AAV on his next deal. It's a similar story for Bennett, who led the postseason in scoring and earned the Conn Smythe Trophy for his efforts. Advertisement Marchand was also excellent during the run, scoring 10 goals and 20 points — including six tallies in six games against the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final. Something is going to have to give; either a few of Florida's star players take team-friendly discounts, or potentially one or more of them hits the open market. It's certainly going to be interesting to see how the next few weeks shake out, but based on the raucous celebrations, it's clear that none of Ekblad, Bennett or Marchand are thinking too hard about a new contract at the present moment. Still, that time is coming soon, and if Zito can somehow find a way to get all three locked up, he will continue cementing his status as the best general manager in hockey. Kirk Cousins' reaction to Falcons' Michael Penix draft shocker revealed in Netflix's ‘Quarterback' trailer

Kirk Cousins likely didn't expect his first season with the Falcons to take the turn it did, otherwise he may not have accepted a spot in Netflix's 'Quarterback' show. The show released its trailer Monday morning for the second season, where the Omaha Productions/NFL Films/2PM Productions docuseries follows quarterbacks Cousins, Jared Goff and Joe Burrow during this past NFL season. Included in the trailer was the moment Cousins, who was fresh off signing a four-year, $180-million deal with Atlanta, saw the team select fellow quarterback Michael Penix Jr. in the draft. The show's typical positive manner took a turn when the trailer revealed a title card that read, 'All the Heartbreak,' and cut to Cousins detailing his decision to leave the Vikings for a more long-term situation with the Falcons. 4 Kirk Cousins and his wife discuss the decision to leave the Vikings and join the Falcons. Netflix/X It quickly cut to Cousins' in-season benching and the visuals of Atlanta drafting Penix with the No. 7 pick. 'I was surprised when the NFL draft happened,' a disappointed Cousins is heard saying in the trailer. 4 Kirk Cousins was benched in his first season with the Falcons after he threw 18 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. AP In the first season of the show, it followed Marcus Mariota alongside the then-Viking Cousins and Patrick Mahomes. Mariota was also benched mid-season for the Falcons during his run on the show, and the production team elected to phase him out of the show a bit — so, the options for how they follow Cousins' similar situation will be intriguing. The show's other season-two participants, Burrow and Goff, also suffered some heartbreak during the past season, which will also likely be covered under the 'All the Heartbreak' umbrella of the show, which is released on July 8. 4 Joe Burrow will be featured in season two of 'Quarterback.' Getty Images 4 Season two of the show also follows Jared Goff. Getty Images Goff's Lions were the top team in the NFL heading into the playoffs before bowing out early in a gut-punch of a loss to the Commanders. As for Burrow, the trailer shows the headlines from when his home was broken into during the season, so that situation also made it into the trailer. Burrow also failed to reach the playoffs.
