Business and Human Rights: TDAP participates in seminar on NAP implementation
The event was held at a local hotel in Peshawar, and brought together a wide range of stakeholders to deliberate on the integration of human rights principles into business practices.
TDAP Peshawar made two comprehensive presentations highlighting the role of the Authority in promoting responsible business conduct, ethical trade practices, and inclusive economic development across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially in underserved regions.
The presentations underscored TDAP's initiatives to support women entrepreneurs, ensure capacity building of exporters in human rights compliance, and enhance linkages between trade and sustainable development.
The presentations received wide appreciation from participants, which included representatives from the Provincial Government departments, trade bodies, academia, legal professionals, NGOs, and a significant number of women entrepreneurs.
TDAP reaffirmed its commitment to aligning its trade promotion activities with Pakistan's international human rights obligations and contributing to the effective implementation of the National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights.
The Authority looks forward to continued collaboration with the Ministry of Human Rights and other stakeholders in fostering ethical, inclusive, and sustainable trade.

Downward trend persists on cotton market
LAHORE: The Spot Rate Committee of the Karachi Cotton Association on Saturday decreased the spot rate by Rs 100 per maund and closed it at Rs 16,200 per maund. Cotton Analyst Naseem Usman told Business Recorder that the local cotton market witnessed a mixed trend and the trading volume remained limited. He also told that the rate of new cotton in Sindh is in between Rs 16,200 to Rs 16,300 per maund and the rate of cotton in Punjab is in between Rs 16,200 to Rs 16,300 per maund. The rate of Phutti in Punjab is in between Rs 6,300 to Rs 7,400 per 40 kg and the rate of Phutti in Sindh is in between Rs 6,400 to Rs 7,400 per 40 kg. The rate of cotton in Balochistan is in between Rs 16,000 to Rs 16,200 per maund. The rate of Phutti in Balochistan is in between Rs 6,700 to Rs 7,600 per maund. Approximately, 1000 bales of Tando Adam, 800 bales of Sanghar were sold in between Rs 16,200 to Rs 16,400 per maund, 200 bales of Layyah, 200 bales of Khanewal, 200 bales of Kassowal were sold at Rs 16,200 per maund, 200 bales of Vehari were sold at Rs 16,250 per maund and 200 bales of Winder were sold at Rs 16,250 per maund. The Spot Rate Committee of the Karachi Cotton Association decreased the spot rate by Rs 100 per maund and closed it at Rs 16,200 per maund. Polyester Fiber was available at Rs 330 per kg. Tourism expo in October: Tajik official extends invitation to PM's coordinator
ISLAMABAD: A high-level delegation from Tajikistan, led by Major General Nazirzoda Savzaali, Head of the Agency for the Provision of Special Property under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, arrived here to explore avenues of bilateral cooperation. In their honor, a dinner was hosted by Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, National Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Tourism. The event was attended by Saidjon Shafizoda, Charge d'Affaires of Tajikistan in Pakistan, the Defence Attaché, and senior executives from Fauji Foods, where discussions were held on potential export products from Pakistan to Tajikistan. During the meeting, the Tajik delegation formally extended an invitation to Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan to participate in their upcoming tourism expo in October and share his expertise on the subject.
