'She is — she's driving. She's the driver of the bus. So I respect that, and it's worked out pretty OK so far. So, if it ain't broke, I'm not trying to fix a beautiful thing,' he reflected.
Then, when asked how they maintain their family dynamic, he fully credits it to their son Walker. 'We both love Walker so much that it only works if we think about him first, and when we put him first,' Diggs happily said. 'We can't help but kind of respect each other and what we're all bringing.'
For those who don't know, Diggs and Menzel first met on the original Broadway production of Rent back in 1995. Eight years later, they married in Jan 2003. They welcomed their son Walker Nathaniel Diggs, born on Sept 2, 2009. However, the couple split up after a decade of marriage, with their divorce getting finalized in 2014.
In a previous interview with SheKnows, Diggs talked about how everything changes when you become a parent, and how each day is different.
'This is one thing that I'm sure about: the moment I think I have it figured out, I know I don't. So I do my best to kind of be in the moment and trust my experiences. I just gotta live with what happens afterwards where we're all doing the best we can. In an interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe in June 2023, the Grammy winner said the split, in the end, was 'freeing.' 'It's incredibly sad, and it's a dark place — fetal position on the floor crying — and there's so much loss with that, and I never experienced grief like that,' she said. 'We got to let each other go. This is not working. This is not going to pan out, and it's not working for either of us.' Clarkson made headlines earlier this year for her absences from her talk show. When "Hamilton" became a rare Broadway juggernaut 10 years ago, the hip-hop musical launched its ultra-talented star and creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda, into the pop culture stratosphere.
