Over £50,000 raised for Optimo DJ after brain tumour diagnosis
Having missed several gigs, Keith McIvor posted news of his glioblastoma diagnosis on social media early in July and received floods of support from fans.
A fundraiser, created by his wife Marissa in response to a wave of messages from supporters worldwide, has been launched.
'After so many kind messages from friends and fans around the world asking how to help, we're launching a Crowdfunder to support Keith's urgent needs,' she wrote.
It revealed that Keith's condition has rapidly progressed, affecting his speech, mobility, and independence, and he now requires 24-hour nursing care.
The funds raised will go directly towards McIvor's private residential nursing care, additional support services, and essentials for ongoing transport and palliative care.
The fundraiser has so far surpassed the mark of their goal with a current total of £52,327.
Any additional donations will be split between causes close to Keith's heart, including Glasgow NW Foodbank, the Coalition for Racial Equality and Rights, Brainstrust, and Crete's Taki's dog shelter.
An update shared alongside the appeal reads: 'While Keith's condition is extremely serious and likely to progress quickly, he's not currently in pain, can communicate well with patience, and is still present as the Keith we know and love.
'He can now connect to those most important to him in a better environment – with a determined group of friends and family around him, ready to do whatever we can to help him with what he wants and needs.
'Thank you for helping us make sure Keith is looked after with dignity and love.'

McIvor is best known for helping shape Glasgow's electronic music scene over two decades after launching Optimo (Espacio) with JG Wilkes as a weekly Sunday-night event in Glasgow's Sub Club in 1997.
It went on to build a reputation for its expansive music and became one of Scotland's most popular club nights, before coming to an end in 2010.

Megyn Kelly has gleefully rejoiced over the cancellation of Stephen Colbert 's late-night show, as she revealed the 'failed' former MSNBC star he is following in the footsteps of. The ex-Fox host, 54, excitedly opened the segment of her show with a megawatt smile as she said: 'Stephan Colbert's show has been cancelled! It's great news, is it not?' CBS announced the cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert - just days after the host blasted the network's $16 million settlement with President Donald Trump as a 'big fat bribe.' Colbert's show, which began in 2015, will now come to an end in May 2026, executives with the network and Paramount, its new parent company, announced on Thursday. Kelly told viewers that Colbert's downfall was due to his penchant for platforming left wing politicians. 'He wants applause for political hit pieces, which he really loves to do,' Kelly said. 'So great, why don't we just acknowledge that and stop pretending he's a comedian who is in the business of being funny? He isn't. 'He will fit in perfect at MS[NBC]. He desperately wanted to be Keith Olbermann. And guess what? Keith Olbermann is a failure. And now so are you, Stephen Colbert.' Olbermann hosted his own show on the network from 2003 to 2011 before his $30million contract was abruptly ended after he made several contributions to Democratic campaigns. He was was a major figure in the network's shift toward more progressive political content. Kelly also criticized Colbert's booking choices, instead of spotlighting actors and entertainers, he brought on Kamala Harris and NYC Democrat mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani. The network explained that the decision to cancel the show is, 'purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night'. 'It is not related in any way to the show's performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount,' it added. Colbert announced the cancellation of his program on his show. 'Next year will be our last season. The network will be ending The Late Show in May,' he told audience members, who responded to the news with emphatic 'boos'. 'It's not just the end of our show, but it's the end of the Late Show on CBS,' he continued. 'I'm not being replaced, this is all just going away,' Colbert added, telling the audience he was just grateful to be given the opportunity to host the long-running show. Trump trolled Colbert after the announcement, saying that he 'loved' that Colbert 'got fired'. 'His talent was even less than his ratings,' he wrote on Truth Social on Friday. 'I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next,' the president continued. 'Has even less talent than Colbert! 'Greg Gutfeld is better than all of them combined, including the Moron on NBC who ruined the once great Tonight Show,' Trump added. The 'moron' in question is Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon. Among the late-night shows, Colbert had the highest ratings. He took over the franchise in 2015, which had originally been helmed by David Letterman. Colbert was already a household name for his Comedy Central show, The Colbert Report, in which he pretended to be a conservative talking head, modeled after pundits like Bill O'Reilly from Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor. He and The Daily Show's Jon Stewart, who was on right before Colbert's time slot, captured the attention of liberal audiences. When Colbert took over The Late Show, he dropped his conservative caricature act, allowing his left-leaning politics to show openly.

Fundraiser gig announced for Glasgow DJ diagnosed with brain tumour
Glasgow's Queen's Park Arena will host the event on Sunday, July 20, organised in partnership with Optimo Music, to raise funds for Keith McIvor, widely known as JD Twitch, who was diagnosed with an untreatable brain tumour. Keith, one half of pioneering DJ duo Optimo (Espacio), has made a lasting impact on the Scottish music community. He is well known for his fearless programming, inclusive ethos, and commitment to building community through music. Sunday's event, originally conceived by Keith as a fundraiser for Glasgow NW Foodbank, will now also help support his treatment, care, and family during this difficult time. The fundraiser offers music lovers a chance to come together in solidarity, celebrating his life, work, and legacy. Chet Capkiner, director of Inhouse CIC at Queen's Park Arena, said: "Optimo has been our spiritual home for so many of us for decades. "Keith's presence and influence changed many lives – including mine. "This is a chance for us to return that care and energy, and to support him and his family when it matters most. "A true musical mentor and inspiration to us all." A Crowdfunder set up following widespread support from friends, fans, and collaborators has already exceeded its initial target. The fundraiser is still open, as the full extent of care costs is not yet known, and can be accessed here: In line with Keith and his family's wishes, the portion of the proceeds originally intended for the food bank will still be donated.
