
Pune: Students & faculties of SNFLC visit Juvenile facility; interact with children in conflict with law
PUNE: On 12th August 2025, the students of Shri Navalmal Firodia Law College carried out an inspiring initiative by visiting the Juvenile Correctional Facility in Yerwada.
During this visit, they interacted with legally conflicted children, aiming to bring about a positive transformation in their mindset.
The students presented a compelling play based on the lives of these children, effectively conveying the message that true strength does not lie in violence or unlawful means, but in education. They encouraged the children to aspire to become IAS or IPS officers, or even judges, emphasizing the power of learning. They also delivered a valuable message: 'Once you leave this place, never return.'

The event was honored by the presence of Mrs.
Bagdodia, Chief Magistrate of the Juvenile Justice Board; Mr. Gajanan Chate, Superintendent of the Observation Home; and Mr. Bhogilal Khade, Probation Officer.
The program was organized under the guidance of Advocate Ashok Palande, Chairman of Shri Navalmal Firodia Law College, and Principal Dr. Sunita Aadhav. Assistant Professors Dr. Neeta Ahir (NSS Officer), Mr. Ajinkya Waghmare, Mrs. Pragya Yadav, and Mr. Prithviraj Chavan made significant contributions to the success of the event.
Student representatives Mr. Omkar Gholve and Mr. Sanchit Budhavant skillfully anchored the program and provided insightful information about legal provisions, including MCOCA and related laws.

Man gets 20 yrs in prison for kidnap, rape of minor
Berhampur: The special Pocso court in Phulbani, Kandhamal district, on Thursday sentenced a 26-year-old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for the kidnap and rape of a 15-year-old girl last year. Manoranjan Das, additional district judge-cum-special judge of the Pocso court, also imposed a fine of Rs 55,000 on the convict. He would undergo an additional nine months in jail if he fails to pay the fine, the court ordered, special prosecutor Asim Praharaj said. On Feb 7, 2024, the girl was found missing from home. Family members later learned she had been kidnapped by a person near the village. Her mother lodged a case at the local police station on Feb 10. Explosives found, 3 held
Berhampur. Tumudibandh police in Kandhamal district on Sunday arrested three persons, two of them from Ganjam district, and seized huge quantities of explosive materials. The accused were identified as Albut Kumar Patra (18) of Asurabandh and Hemant Sethi (31) of Ambapua, Berhampur and Shakti Ranjan Dash (50) of Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district. Around 6.9 tones of gelatin sticks, 2.5 tones of apex booster, 4,000 pieces of detonators, 43 electric wires, 38 cordex, two batteries, two vehicles, one of them a pick-up van, six mobile phones and Rs 2.80 lakh cash were seized from the accused. Ramendra Prasad, sub-divisional police officer, Baliguda, said police found a pick-up van loaded with apex booster at Rampur Chowk under Tumudibandh police station limits during routine checking. Man jailed for 7 yrs for minor's rape
Kendrapada: The Pocso court in Jajpur sentenced a 27-year-old man to 7 years in prison for raping a 17-year-old girl under the false promise of marriage. The verdict was delivered on Thursday. The convict was also fined Rs 5,000. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional month of imprisonment. The court also directed the Odisha State Legal Services Authority (OSLSA) to pay the survivor Rs 7 lakh under the Odisha Victim Compensation Scheme. The case came to light when the girl filed an FIR on March 7, 2022, alleging that the man had raped her multiple times after promising her marriage.
