South Lebanon: Israeli Drone Strike Kills Citizen as He was Heading for Fajr Prayer

Al Manar2 days ago

The Israeli enemy proceeds with its aggression on Lebanon in a new violation of a ceasefire signed in late 2024.
Al-Manar correspondent in south Lebanon reported a Lebanese citizen was martyred at dawn on Saturday in an Israeli drone on his vehicle as he was heading for Fajr (dawn) prayer at his town's mosque.
The strike was preceded by remarkable flight of Israeli Apache helicopters in the region, our correspondent said, noting that this is the first time -since the end of the recent war – that Israeli helicopters fly over such depth (some 25 kms from the Palestinian border).
Mohammad Ali Jammaoul, 33, was martyred as his vehicle was targeted by a missile launched by an Israeli drone on the highway linking between his hometown of Deir Al-Zahrani and Nabatieh, the correspondent said.
Jammoul's brother was also martyred during the latest 66-day Israeli war on Lebanon, during heroic clashes with occupation forces in Yohmor Al-Shaqeef.
The Israeli enemy has been going ahead with its violations of the ceasefire. On Friday, Al-Manar correspondent reported that the Lebanese Army units found Israeli spy cameras in the outskirts of Blida border town in South Lebanon.
Hezbollah has repeatedly called on the Lebanese State to take firm stance on the Israeli continued violations of the ceasefire which took effect on November 27, 2024 following a brutal Israeli war on Lebanon which started earlier in September.
In an interview with Al-Manar on Wednesday, Hezbollah MP Hasan Fadlallah said the Lebanese government was not assuming its responsibilities regarding the Israeli withdrawal from the Lebanese territories that are still occupied, halting the Israeli attacks and the reconstruction efforts.

Morgan Ortagus, key figure on Lebanon's file, may step down as US deputy envoy to the Mideast — what we know

Report by Toni Mrad, English adaptation by Karine Keuchkerian In January 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump appointed Morgan Ortagus as Deputy Special Envoy for the Middle East. Despite the appointment, Trump's announcement carried a tone of implicit skepticism and a lack of enthusiasm, reflecting personal reservations about the decision—even as Ortagus enjoyed "strong Republican support." In addition to her regional responsibilities, Ortagus was tasked with overseeing the Lebanon file and made two official visits to Beirut. During her first visit in February 2025, Ortagus met with Lebanese officials and said at a news conference that the United States had drawn a "red line" against Hezbollah's participation in the Lebanese government. She claimed that Hezbollah had been militarily defeated and should play no role in any future cabinet. In her second round of talks in April, Ortagus reiterated the urgent need to disarm Hezbollah and all other armed groups in Lebanon. A third visit to Lebanon had been expected in the coming days, but media reports now indicate that Ortagus will soon step down as part of broader changes within Trump's foreign policy team. She is reportedly being reassigned to another post within the administration. Although she had expressed interest in becoming the special envoy to Syria, the role was instead given to Thomas Barrack. The White House has not confirmed the change. Israel's Channel 14 reported that Ortagus' departure is "not good news" for Israel, citing her strong support for efforts to disarm Hezbollah.
