
ABVP stages protest as syndicate meets over campus issues
Jaipur: ABVP functionaries protested outside the
Rajasthan University
vice-chancellor's secretariat Friday as the syndicate body met after a gap of six months. ABVP submitted a memorandum with 10 demands to the syndicate members regarding irregularities in the university.
The syndicate body met to discuss arrangements for the upcoming 34th convocation ceremony of the university, scheduled to take place on May 15. ABVP functionaries alleged that they were lathi-charged by police officials as they peacefully protested and wanted to submit a memorandum to the university syndicate. The memorandum included issues like illegal tree felling on the university campus, an alleged scam in tenders of the university, the dilapidated condition of hostels, and NEP implementation in constituent colleges of RU, among other issues.

LU asst prof gets anticipatory bail on Pahalgam attack post
Lucknow: The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad high court has granted interim anticipatory bail to Madri Kakoti, an assistant professor of linguistics at Lucknow University , for her controversial posts on social media after the Pahalgam terror attack. The order was passed by the vacation single bench of Justice Rajiv Singh on Monday. Kakoti's advocate SMH Rizvi said the main argument put forward on behalf of Prof. Kakoti was that she had no connection with any political party and neither had she ever participated in any protest-demonstration etc. Teacher and satirist Madri Kakoti, whose online avatar Dr Medusa has 1,50,000 followers on X, was charged on April 29 with sedition and causing disharmony through a social media post on the April 22 attack in Pahalgam. ABVP's Jati Shukla alias Manmohan Shukla had lodged an FIR with Hasanganj police station on April 28. Along with other sections in the said FIR, the police also imposed section 152 of BNS under which the punishment is up to life imprisonment. Lucknow University had issued Kakoti a show-cause notice after ABVP students staged a protest on campus. Protesters alleged the teacher's remark had been reposted by a Pak media handle, tarnishing India's and the university's reputation. They submitted a memorandum to the vice-chancellor, demanding action against her. The allegedly seditious post included a video in which Kakoti said that religious profiling before killing someone is terrorism, as is enquiring about religion before lynching.

Pack of sweets with cash: Rajasthan minister alleges bribery attempt by teacher
Rajasthan's school education minister, Madan Dilawar, has alleged that a government school teacher tried to bribe him, seeking a position on the curriculum writing committee during a public hearing at his said that the incident occurred earlier in the morning at his official residence while he was preparing for a visit to Ramgarh. Chandrakant Vaishnav, the teacher, arrived to meet him there and handed the minister a box of sweets, several documents, and a sealed opening the envelope, Dilawar found Rs 5,000 inside. "I instantly rejected this inappropriate act and handed over the envelope to the police and also directed necessary action against the person concerned," Dilawar said in a post on X. "Zero tolerance policy towards corruption is the basis of good governance," he added. He said he immediately contacted the police to report the incident, and Chandrakant was taken into currently posted as a Grade-3 Level-2 science teacher, expressed his interest in being appointed to the curriculum writing committee. Posted in a village in Banswara district, he had allegedly come to Jaipur with the intention of securing a position on the curriculum committee associated with the Rajasthan State Council of Educational Research and Training (RSCERT).In his application, the teacher allegedly also mentioned that he had been associated with ABVP and the Sangh Parivar since his student years, news agency PTI calling the incident a "painful and unfortunate moment," said that this was the first time in his 35-36 years of political life that someone had presumed he would accept money for official work."This is the most unfortunate incident of my life. Pahalgam attack remarks: Allahabad HC grants anticipatory bail to LU asst prof
The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court on Monday granted an interim anticipatory bail to Lucknow University's assistant professor Madri Kakoti who was booked on April 28 this year on charges of sedition and causing disharmony through her controversial social media post related to the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack. Justice Rajeev Singh passed the order. An FIR was lodged against Kakoti on the application of Jatin Shukla, a student and member of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). In the FIR, she was accused of targeting the integrity and sovereignty of India through her posts on X. She was booked for multiple offences under relevant Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections, including charges related to endangering India's sovereignty, unity and integrity. Advocate Syed Mohammad Haider Rizvi represented Kakoti in the court. It was contended in the FIR that Kakoti's posts contained objectionable and provocative terms such as saffron-terrorist and were circulated by Pakistani media houses.
