PGs now offer biometric entry, diverse meals, real-time tracking

Jaipur: As the academic season picks up pace, Jaipur is seeing a steady influx of students from across Rajasthan and neighbouring states like Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. With admissions underway at institutions such as Rajasthan University, Haridev Joshi University, MNIT, and nearly 20 private universities, the city's PG and hostel accommodations are evolving rapidly to meet the expectations of a new generation of students. Shifting to a new city can bring anxiety around food, hygiene, safety, and cost. But PG and hostel owners in Jaipur are going the extra mile to create a home-like environment. From offering three nutritious meals daily and high-speed Wi-Fi to daily housekeeping, the facilities now available are both extensive and efficient. What sets many hostels apart this year is the inclusion of CCTV surveillance, biometric entry-exit systems, and even real-time student tracking access for parents. "Parents want constant assurance. We've installed real-time dashboards so parents can track when their child enters or leaves the premises," says Arjun Mathur, who manages a PG in Raja Park. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Zumbido e perda de audição? "Students are like family to us. We ensure their comfort by maintaining hygiene, preparing fresh meals, and ensuring their safety," says Sangeeta Sharma, a PG owner in Bapu Nagar. Students are equally appreciative. "I was nervous when I left home, but this PG in Shyam Nagar gave me everything — good food, a safe environment, and people who genuinely care. It doesn't feel like I'm away from home," shares Manisha Meena, a first-year student at Haridev Joshi University. Popular PG zones such as Bapu Nagar, Lalkothi, and Rajapark cater to Rajasthan University students, while Vivek Vihar, C-Scheme, Banipark, Sitapura, and Malviya Nagar draw those heading to other institutions. Rent ranges from Rs 3,000 to Rs 8,000, depending on amenities.

Fundamental research, investigation needed in medical education: Rajasthan Governor

Jaipur: Highlighting the need for talented doctors in society, Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde on Tuesday said special attention must be paid towards medical education to increase the "intellectual capacity" of students. Bagde was addressing a convocation ceremony at the Rajasthan Health Sciences University (RUHS) in Birla Auditorium. Stating that a society should get good and talented doctors, Bagde called for special attention towards fundamental research and investigation in medical education. The governor also suggested that the Rajasthan University join forces with other universities in the country and abroad and "become the vehicle for the exchange of new knowledge in this field". "Special attention should be paid towards the student's intellectual capacity and their ability to retain and process knowledge. He said that no machine has been made to test intellectual capacity, but the one who achieves success in knowledge with intelligence instead of copying is intellectually strong," an official statement said. Emphasizing on working towards curing diseases with minimum medicines, the governor said that in the Indian perspective, medicine and pharmacology are complementary to each other. Further asserting that convocations should be held in the same year a student completes his education, Bagde called for efforts to be made at all levels to ensure students get their degrees on time. At the event, Bagde launched the National Academic Repository Portal . Earlier, he conferred the honorary degree of Doctor of Science - Medicine to Dr Vishwa Mohan Katoch for his outstanding contribution in biomedical research.

RU prof on hunger strike over removal

Jaipur: A senior professor from Rajasthan University's geography department began an indefinite hunger strike outside the vice-chancellor's secretariat Monday. Professor Mahipal Singh Sihag alleged that he was removed from the post of head of department within four months of joining in July 2023, while officially, the tenure should be for three years. He said that the matter is sub-judice, but a junior professor has been appointed as the head of the department. In a letter to the vice-chancellor Alpana Kateja, Prof Sihag wrote, "…I would like to state that you are continuously trying to humiliate and harass me by appointing Dr Chandra Vijay Dabaria as head department of geography, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur on Oct 4, 2023, in place of myself…" "The seniormost professor is made the head of the department, which is a rotational post. After I joined, a false complaint was filed against me due to which I was removed from the post. I approached the courts, but still defying the norms, someone else was made the HOD. I will continue my strike even in this heatwave," said Sihag. Meanwhile, officials said that all protocols were followed in the selection for the post of HOD. "After Sihag was removed, the then dean of the department was made the HOD, and when the tenure got over, the seniormost professor left was appointed. As the matter is sub-judice, the university cannot take any decision in this regard," said a senior official. tnn Jaipur: A senior professor from Rajasthan University's geography department began an indefinite hunger strike outside the vice-chancellor's secretariat Monday. External recognition key to measuring university's progress: Guv

Jaipur: Rajasthan University 's progress can be measured through the praise academics from other states heap on the varsity governor Haribhau Bagde said Thursday while speaking at the university's 34th convocation ceremony. He said while state forums acknowledge the university's achievements, it is essential for other states to acknowledge RU's progress. At the convocation, 309 students were awarded PhD degrees, and 124 students received gold medals and over 1.5 lakh students were conferred their degrees. The governor expressed happiness over the fact that over 75% of the students who received gold medals were girls. A student who pursued MCom (EAFM) Anjali Sharma, received four gold medals at the convocation ceremony. "Education does not end with collecting a degree; one must keep learning. The more knowledge you gain, the more you can share with future generations. Moral values have been the main basis of Indian culture. Our new education policy is going to fulfil the vision of increasing the intellectual capacity of our future generations," said Bagde. At the convocation ceremony, assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani said that the Indian knowledge system is relevant in today's time too. "This rich and comprehensive knowledge system, which has been going on since ancient times, has contributed extensively to various fields like education, science, technology, and philosophy," said Devnani. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 올 봄 패션 트렌드는? The assembly speaker also said that in ancient India, the purpose of education was not only to acquire knowledge but also to achieve complete self-realisation. "World-class institutions of ancient India like Takshila, Nalanda, Vikramshila, and Vallabhi established the highest standards of multi-disciplinary teaching and research. The rich heritage must be nurtured and preserved for future generations so that new experiments can be done in research and promotion," he added. Informing about the NAAC accreditation of the university, vice-chancellor Prof Alpana Kateja said that self-study report has been submitted. "Due to the NAAC accreditation of the university pending for four years, the university was deprived of the grants received through various schemes of the central govt. After completing all the processes of Self Study Report, it will pave the way for the university to receive grants," said Kateja.

Moral values are foundation of Indian culture, says Rajasthan Guv Bagde

Jaipur, Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde on Thursday said that moral values have been the foundation of Indian culture and the new education policy serves as its carrier. Addressing the convocation ceremony of Rajasthan University, Bagde said, "Moral values have been the main basis of Indian culture. To take these values away, Lord Macaulay introduced the English education system during British rule, which developed a slave mentality among citizens." He said that Vinoba Bhave had once remarked that just as the national flag was changed after independence, the education policy should also have been changed. However, that did not happen. "Now, a new education policy has been prepared by around one thousand educationists. It is filled with Indian ethos and life values, and it promotes moral values,' Bagde said, adding that teachers should educate students in the spirit of this policy. Expressing happiness over the fact that more than 75 per cent of the gold medal recipients were girls, the governor said they are now creating a new history of achievements. Referring to Maharishi Arvind, Bagde said he had emphasised awakening the inner self to enhance intellectual capacity in children, an idea also mentioned by Pandit Nehru in 'The Discovery of India'. He said the new education policy aims to realise this vision. Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani, who also addressed the event, said an order has been issued to rename the Vice Chancellor as 'Kulguru' in state universities, adding that the pride of education lies in this term. Devnani said the Indian knowledge system remains relevant today and has made significant contributions in fields like education, science, technology, and philosophy since ancient times. He urged the youth to become self-reliant while upholding humility and decency. Deputy Chief Minister and Higher Education Minister Premchand Bairwa also addressed the students on the occasion.
