KENTUCKY (FOX 56) — American Red Cross Disaster Resource Centers are opening in Jessamine and Woodford Counties on Monday, April 21.
According to emergency management officials, these resource center sites offer in-person support to survivors in declared counties as a result of severe storms and flooding earlier this month. Representatives will also help connect flood victims with necessary resources.
Additional Disaster Resource Centers will be opening in more counties over the course of the coming days, officials said.

According to the Red Cross website, you do not need to visit a Disaster Resource Center to apply for aid. Flood victims can apply for help using this registration form.
Once officials finish assessing damage for a county, they will send invites to homes that qualify for aid through text messages, email, or phone calls before moving to the next county and repeating the process. For Kentucky, outreach began on April 20 and will end on or around May 11.
The Red Cross website has examples of damage from other homes that would qualify for assistance, as well as information and resources to help after historic flooding in Kentucky.

American Red Cross, Urban League step in to help family of 14 displaced by tornado

ST. LOUIS – Nearly a month after a tornado destroyed their home, a St. Louis family of 14 is once again preparing for homelessness—this time on Father's day. The Williams family's home is on St. Ferdinand Street, and what used to be a house full of life and laughter is now unlivable. The walls of their tornado-damaged home are still standing, but this family says their stability is crumbling. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox. We're constantly on the phone, looking for rentals, just trying to hold on until disaster relief comes to help repair our home,' Selena Williams said. The 14-person family has been staying in an extended hotel since the storm, but that is expected to end this weekend. With no home and no rental willing to accept a large family, they've turned to FEMA and local nonprofits for help. 'I don't know what to do. Because of our family size, that's an issue. That's why we owned our home; it had enough space for us,' Williams told FOX 2. The American Red Cross has stepped in and will extend the families' stay seven more days and the Urban League will also assist afterwards, extending the stay for a month. The Williams family said they won't stop fighting for stable housing. Their GoFundMe is active now as they search for a new home. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Church Point residents are no strangers to floods

CHURCH POIN, La. (KLFY) — In Acadia Parish, one area that's prone to flooding resulted in a few roads being closed. But, just as quickly as the flood waters came, they receded. At the corner of W. Corporate St. and Gayle Dr., homeowners in the area report that when it rains heavily, the area tends to flood. It's something they wish they didn't have to deal with, although it's something they're used to. 'It floods a lot, especially if they have a good amount of rain.' The resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said. When the roadways flood, vehicles tend to push water into homes. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox. Subscribe Now 'I know neighbors that had that problem before where people don't respect the barricades and stuff like that. and as people pass through the waters in their houses and that becomes a problem for them and stuff like that.' The resident said. Church Point Police Chief Dale Thibodeaux said this area is no stranger to flooding because of where it's located. 'What happens is when the bayou and Bayou Wikoff gets full, it backs up on us, and that one little area right there from the street, Broadway, and then Gayle Dr., that's where it all backs up into that one little area.' Thibodeaux said. Chief Thibodeaux said his department makes it a point to inform the public about roadways that are closed because it's a way to keep motorists safe. He said barricades are usually put to avoid anyone running off into the ditch. 'But people need to understand this for their safety. It's not because we feel like going walking water or the town personnel feels like walking in water to put barricades. It's for their safety.' Thibodeaux said. Church Point saw up to 3.8 inches of rain and some surrounding areas saw a little over 4 inches. As of this afternoon, roadways that were closed in church point are now open.
