The Los Angeles Dodgers hosted the New York Yankees for the first time since the 2024 World Series. The Dodgers won the series 2-1, which included an 18-2 clobbering in game two. But the two runs the Dodgers gave up in that game left Dodgers manager Dave Roberts in disbelief.

In part of Bob Nightengale's article for USA Today, he included Roberts' reaction to Yankees superstar Aaron Judge. After the Dodgers' 18-2 victory, Roberts shared his disbelief at Judge's offensive prowess.
"It was more disbelief," Roberts said, "and I felt okay with it. Apologies to Stratton, but I like superstars, so I was okay giving up a solo homer right there to watch him."
Robert's comments stem from the eighth inning, in which the Dodgers were up 15-1 and had effectively put the game out of reach. But, before the game was done, Judge hit his second solo home run of the night, this time off reliever Chris Stratton.
Judge's second home run went 425 feet to left center field and was his 21st home run of the season. He's third in MLB in home runs, behind both Shohei Ohtani and Cal Raleigh.

Offensively, there has been no better player than Judge through the first two months of the season. His offensive prowess has even opposing managers in awe, and in Roberts' case, okay with his players giving up home runs.

Robert's disbelief surrounding Judge's offensive performance is warranted. Judge is putting together one of the best offensive seasons ever, and he's doing so in the modern era, where the offensive numbers he's compiling are hard to come by.
Judge has the highest batting average in MLB at .391, fourth most RBI at 50, the most hits at 86, and the highest OPS in MLB at 1.249. His OPS is nearly .200 points higher than Freddie Freeman's, who has the second-highest OPS in baseball.
Disbelief is a fitting description for what Judge has done offensively so far in 2025. Roberts is likely not the only manager who looks on at what Judge is doing in disbelief.
Despite his team giving up two home runs in the same game, Roberts was okay with it because he, like most fans, likes to watch superstars play at a high level.
