Wynne Evans has got engaged.
The 53-year-old opera singer popped the question to girlfriend Liz Brookes over the weekend while they were on holiday in Morocco and he is feeling "a tiny bit smug" after she said yes.
Sharing photos from the proposal, Wynne wrote on Instagram: "Big news… I got engaged!
"This weekend in Morocco, somewhere between the couscous, the camels, and me limping around the souks like a man with no spatial awareness, I proposed to Liz — and she said yes! (No take-backs, I've checked.)
"She's clever, she's kind, she's got excellent taste in men. Absolutely no idea how I pulled that off, but here we are!
"Feeling very lucky, very happy, and just a tiny bit smug."
The happy news comes after a tough few months for Wynne, after he was axed from the Strictly Come Dancing tour for making a sexually suggestive remark during a photocall and subsequently had the BBC confirm they wouldn't renew his rolling contract.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "It has been a tumultuous six months for Wynne but Liz has been his absolute rock throughout.
"Finally some wonderful news for Wynne and his inner circle to celibate and everyone is chuffed for them both.
"He secretly bought an engagement ring and squirrelled it away for their holiday, and then popped the question over champagne.
"Liz has been incredible over the past few months, supporting him through thick and thin, and had his back throughout, but obviously Wynne is telling everyone she's a lucky girl!"
Wynne - who has two children with ex-wife Tanwen - revealed late last month that his BBC Radio Wales contract hadn't been used following a four-month investigation into the Strictly incident, for which he had previously apologised.
In a new video on Instagram, he said: 'My beloved Wynners, From the very depths of my heart - thank you.
'These past few months, your love has been the light in my darkest days. Every message, every word of encouragement, every moment you stood by me has carried me through more than you could ever know.
'It breaks my heart to say the BBC has decided not to renew my contract so I won't be returning to my radio show. I'm gutted.
'That show wasn't just work - it was home. It was us. We laughed, we cried, we sang like nobody was listening. And somehow, through the airwaves, we became a family.'
A spokesperson for the BBC told MailOnline: 'Wynne Evans is not under contract with the BBC. He is not returning to the mid-morning show on BBC Radio Wales and there are currently no plans to work with him.'
However, Wynne revealed plans for a new show, which will air on a new app and website.

Kings of Joburg season 3 drops — Connie Ferguson and Malik Yoba bring the fire
Kings of Joburg, which premiered in December 2020, is now set to release its third season. The series features Connie Ferguson, who is also the executive producer, Zolisa Xaluva and Thembi Seete, among others. Ferguson says they invested in the show because they believed it was not a one-hit wonder. When asked whether they had expected Kings of Joburg to gain momentum the way it had, the former Generations and Generations: The Legacy actress laughed and said: 'Definitely!' She said they believed in the show and were willing to invest in it and the partnerships went a long way. We hoped for it. We had high expectations, but you never know how the public will receive it. It was a risk, what we did with Kings of Joburg [season] 1, but how it was received was such a pleasant surprise because it said to us, we were on the right track. Connie Ferguson She added that, when they developed the first season, they had other seasons in the pipeline. She said season 1 had been a test and they had passed it with flying colours. Ferguson, who recently celebrated her 55th birthday, shared that Netflix was a supportive partner and her US co-executive producer, Samad Davis, brought knowledge about the international film and television space. 'Our approach of bridging the gap between SA, the rest of Africa and America paid off. We didn't know how that would be received, but it was received very well. As much as Kings of Joburg is a South African show, we believe it is a world show.' Ferguson said season 3 would showcase how her character had developed and would do anything to protect her family. Supplied Part of Veronica's development includes revealing her sensitive and loving side. This will introduce US actor Malik Yoba, who plays Isador, Veronica's love interest. Yoba, who was in SA for the season 3 press junket, the launch and Ferguson's birthday party, said he was honoured to be part of the show. He said filming on the continent as an African American was also an honour. 'I don't think I have done this before in a character, where a woman holds the power and the man is in support of that power, which is a nice dynamic.' The actor said his first visit to Johannesburg had been in 1996, adding that this was his sixth. Supplied Veteran actor Abdul Khoza shocked many in May when he announced that he had quit acting after 14 years of bringing different characters to life. At the time, he also shared his last self-tape audition, saying it was for aspiring actors to see what it took to get a role. Talking about his character Lester in Kings of Joburg, Khoza said he experienced physical strain and endurance. In this season, Lester had had to run and fight a lot, but he did his best. 'It was exciting to play Lester. I enjoyed that there was a story for me to finally play as Lester and discover more of Lester myself. With the first season, I only had a glimpse of what my character was really about, the story I had,' he said. Thembi Seete, Busisiwe 'Cici' Thwala, Clint Brink, Enyinna Nwigwe, Maurice Paige and Zolisa Xaluva round up the cast. Season 3 was launched in Sandton last week, with Ferguson assuring viewers that this would be the most thrilling and amazing project. The new series starts streaming on Netflix on Friday.

Doctor Who star spoke at pro-Palestinian protest
Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa spoke at a pro-Palestinian demonstration days after pulling out of Eurovision hosting duties. Gatwa, who played the 15th Doctor, was among a host of celebrities to speak at the event outside Parliament last month. Days earlier, the 32-year-old actor had unexpectedly pulled out as the UK's Eurovision spokesman, leading some fans to speculate that he had done so because Israel qualified for the final. Sophie Ellis-Bextor, the Murder on the Dancefloor singer and BBC Radio 2 DJ, took his place. The BBC offered no explanation for the last-minute change at the time, other than to blame 'unforeseen circumstances'. At the pro-Palestinian demonstration on May 29, Gatwa was among high-profile figures who stood in front of a banner that read 'Gaza: Actions Not Words'. The charity Choose Love organised the rally, in which the names of 15,613 Palestinian children killed in the conflict were read out. Steve Coogan, Chris O'Dowd, Dawn O'Porter, Juliet Stevenson and Stephen Kapos, a Holocaust survivor, joined Gatwa to take turns reading every name, a process that took more than 18 hours. Gatwa has previously spoken out against the Israeli government's actions in Gaza and shown his support for Palestinians on social media. The rally also came days before it was revealed he was being replaced as the Doctor in the final episode of his second series. In a surprise twist, his character regenerated into Rose Taylor, played by Billie Piper. The move brought his reign as the Time Lord to an end after just 18 months. He was the first Doctor to be played by an openly queer or black actor in the show's 62-year history. The BBC and Gatwa's representatives were approached for comment.
