SALALAH: A senior government official has lauded the remarkable improvements in infrastructure and public services across Dhofar during the Khareef Dhofar Season 2025, calling it a benchmark for coordinated development and enhanced visitor experience.
Speaking during a visit to Salalah's traditional market, the official expressed admiration for the upgrades, noting that the transformation is not only visible but also tangibly felt by both residents and tourists.
'This year's season stands out — not just because of the beautiful climate, but because of how well everything is organised, clean and accessible,' he said. 'We must protect these achievements and continue building on them in the years to come.'
The khareef season has witnessed substantial infrastructure improvements across popular tourism zones. Road access to high-traffic sites such as Al Haffa Market, Ittin Gardens and Al Mughsail Beach has been widened and resurfaced, while parking facilities have been expanded to accommodate growing numbers of vehicles.
Authorities have also upgraded public lighting and deployed additional sanitation teams to manage waste more efficiently at outdoor markets and nature spots.
In a further effort to elevate the visitor experience, new public amenities have been installed, including modern restrooms, wheelchair-accessible walkways and multilingual signage designed to help international tourists navigate with ease. These enhancements have helped reduce congestion and created a more seamless experience across major tourism sites.
The official credited these advancements to the joint efforts of Dhofar Municipality, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, and the Royal Oman Police, among other entities.
He stressed that this high level of execution reflects a shared national commitment to improving tourism infrastructure and delivering quality public services. 'These efforts are not temporary. They reflect a long-term vision for sustainable tourism,' he added.
The upgrades align with Oman Vision 2040, which places tourism at the heart of economic diversification and regional development.
Officials believe that the benefits are already being felt, from greater support for small and medium enterprises to improved job creation and stronger visitor satisfaction.
As the season progresses, the official called on both residents and tourists to play their part in maintaining these achievements. 'The public sector has done its part. Now, the community and visitors must play their role in respecting and safeguarding the infrastructure,' he said.
The Khareef Dhofar Season 2025 may be remembered not only for its misty hills and verdant landscapes but also as the year Dhofar demonstrated its readiness for a new era of modern, sustainable and inclusive tourism — setting a new standard for the seasons ahead.
