"What happened in Pahalgam was travesty and depravity of different order": Manish Tewari
Addis Ababa [Ethiopia], June 1 (ANI): Congress MP Manish Tewari, member of the Group 7 all-party delegation led by NCP-SCP Supriya Sule, said India's response was aimed at protecting the nation's sovereignty and ensuring such brutal acts against civilians do not happen again.
He also described the Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir as a travesty and a grave act of depravity.
'What happened in Pahalgam, J&K on 22nd April was a travesty and a depravity of a different order altogether. People were identified based on their faith, executed at point-blank range in front of their families, and the families were told-take this message back to your political leadership. And therefore the response that India initiated between the 7th and 10th of May was to protect and preserve our sovereignty, our territorial integrity as a nation and more importantly to try and make sure that our innocent civilians are not targeted in the barbaric manner they were killed in cold blood just because they happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time under those circumstances,' Tewari said.
He added that the delegation is travelling worldwide to gather support for a global fight against terrorism.
'The reason why these delegations have travelled far and wide to various corners of the world is to try and reach out to friends, interlocutors, influential nations, civil society, parliamentarians, government ministers, political parties to try and explore the urgent need to create a global coalition against state-sponsored terror,' Tewari said.
The all-party delegation led by Supriya Sule also includes Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Vikramjeet Singh Sahney, Manish Tewari, Anurag Singh Thakur, Lavu Sri Krishna devarayalu, Anand Sharma, former Minister of Commerce & Industry, V Muraleedharan, Former Minister of State for External Affairs, and Syed Akbaruddin, Former Permanent Representative of India to the UN.
The delegation aims to brief international partners on India's response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and its broader fight against cross-border terrorism while engaging with leaders in key countries.
The multi-party delegation, consisting of seven groups led by one MP each, has been initiated to counter global misinformation and highlight India's zero-tolerance policy on terrorism. (ANI)

The third edition of the India-Central Asia Dialogue was also hosted by India in December 2021. The MEA highlighted that India and Central Asia, as part of each other's 'Extended Neighbourhood,' enjoy strong diplomatic ties grounded in centuries-old cultural and people-to-people exchanges. The Dialogue is a reflection of mutual interest to strengthen regional partnership through cooperation, trust, and understanding. The 4th edition will focus on enhancing collaboration in trade, connectivity, technology, and development. The participating ministers are also expected to share views on regional security and global concerns. Ahead of the main dialogue, the Foreign Ministers will attend the India-Central Asia Business Council meeting on June 5, organised by the MEA in partnership with FICCI. (ANI)

"Despite political differences, we stand together," Kanimozhi after meeting EAM Jaishankar along with all-party delegation

Jaishankar interacted with the All-Party Delegation led by DMK MP Kanimozhi, following their recent multi-nation visit to Russia, Latvia, Slovenia, Greece, and Spain. Sharing an update on X, Jaishankar wrote, 'Glad to interact with the All Party Delegation led by @KanimozhiDMK that visited Russia, Latvia, Slovenia, Greece and Spain.' The delegation's visit was part of a global outreach initiative aimed at briefing key nations on Operation Sindoor and India's counter-terrorism stance following the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, who led the delegation, said the visit was 'very positive' and underscored that its bipartisan nature--comprising mostly opposition MPs and one BJP MP--reflected India's united stand against terrorism on the global stage. Speaking after the return, Kanimozhi emphasised that terrorism linked to Pakistan affects not just India but the global community, calling for collective international action to curb terror. 'The visit was a very positive one... the delegation mostly had opposition MPs and one BJP MP, which in itself was a message to the countries that India stands as one. In spite of our political differences, we stand together as one country... Every time there has been an act of terrorism in India, we have been able to trace it back to Pakistan. "Those who protect nature, nature protects them": PM Modi on World Environment Day
New Delhi [India], June 5 (ANI): On World Environment Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the importance of preserving the balance of nature. On Thursday, PM Modi shared a video message on his official X account urging people to deepen their efforts to protect the planet and overcome environmental challenges. In the caption of the video, PM Modi wrote: This #WorldEnvironmentDay, let's deepen our efforts towards protecting our planet and overcoming the challenges we face. I also compliment all those working at the grassroots to make our environment greener and better. In the video message, PM Modi said, 'Prakriti Rakshati Rakshita', those who protect nature, nature protects them.' The Prime Minister highlighted India's ancient tradition of environmental balance, 'Balance in the environment has always been a part of our ancient tradition. It is said in our culture, 'Yat pinde tat brahmande', meaning, what exists in the body also exists in the universe. Whatever we do for ourselves directly impacts our environment.' PM Modi stressed that individual actions directly impact the environment and called for collective action to protect the world's climate. 'To protect the world's climate, it is essential that every country rises above self-interest and thinks collectively.', the video stated. PM Modi praised India's efforts to reduce plastic usage, adding that the country has been working on this initiative for the past 4-5 years. 'This year's Environment Day theme is the campaign for freedom from plastic, and I am glad that what the world is now beginning to talk about, India has already been working on continuously for the past 4-5 years.' The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction that 'Mission LiFE' (Lifestyle for Environment) is gaining momentum on a global scale. PM Modi further stated that millions of people are adopting the mantra of reduce, reuse, and recycle in their daily lives. 'Personally, it gives me great satisfaction that Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) is now turning into a public movement across the globe. At the end of the video, PM Modi extended his heartfelt wishes to everyone on World Environment Day: 'Once again, my heartfelt wishes to everyone on World Environment Day.' Mission LiFE is an India-led global movement to nudge individuals to take simple yet effective, environment-friendly actions in their daily lives. The event will highlight how the youth can inspire behavioural change that leads to individual and collective action towards an environmentally conscious lifestyle. The LiFE themes are to conserve energy and water, reduce waste, adopt sustainable food systems and healthy lifestyles, and say no to single-use plastic. Some examples of LiFE actions are using bicycles for short commutes, turning off running taps when not in active use, consuming locally available foods, using natural or organic products, planting trees, reducing waste, and segregating wet and dry waste at home.
