Brian Cox bemoans cancel culture
The 79-year-old actor has voiced his support for his "old friend" Kevin Spacey, who was exiled from the showbiz world in 2017 after he was accused of sexual misconduct and before he was acquitted at a trial in the UK in 2023.
Brian told Sky News: "I am so against cancel culture. Kevin has made a lot of mistakes, but there is a sort of viciousness about it which is unwarranted.
"Everybody is stupid as everybody else. Everybody is capable of the same mistakes and the same sins as everybody else."
Spacey previously confessed to having been "too handsy" at times. But Brian thinks he could revive his acting career in the coming years.
Asked if he could see a return to showbiz for Spacey, he replied: "I would think so eventually, but it's very tough for him.
"He was tricky, but he has learnt a big lesson. He should be allowed to go on because he is a very fine actor. I just think we should be forgiving."
Brian can't understand people who take joy in other people's misery.
The veteran actor said: "What is the joy you get out of kicking somebody in the balls when they are down? That is what I cannot stand."
Spacey previously opened up about his mistakes, confessing to being "too handsy" at times.
During an appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Spacey said: "[I was] pushing the boundaries ... being too handsy, you know. Touching someone sexually, in a way that I didn't know at the time that they didn't want."
Asked if his behaviour amounted to groping, Spacey replied: "Yeah."
The 66-year-old actor - who has enjoyed huge success on stage and screen - added: "I agree that the word grope is a very odd word. I personally ... I have caressed people. I have been gentle with people. That is the way that I am.
"You're making a pass at someone, you don't want to be aggressive - you want to be gentle. You want to see if they're going to respond positively. So, I think the word itself is not a word that I associate with my experience."

Weeks before his death, Osbourne performed from a throne at the Black Sabbath farewell concert on July 5 in Birmingham, England — a live show that would be his final concert and his first in 20 years with the band that made him a star. The musician, however, faced several health issues in the years leading up to has last onstage performance. In January 2020, Osbourne revealed that he'd been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, a nervous system disorder that affects movement in 2003. At the time, he said, "It's not a death sentence." Prior to that, in 2019, Osbourne had suffered a fall in his Los Angeles home that required neck surgery. The musician, however, did return to the stage in August 2022 for a performance in front of 30,000 at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. The following month, he spoke to PEOPLE about wanting to continue playing live despite his health issues. "That's the only thing that reminds me I'm getting older: things going wrong and not working anymore," Osbourne said at the time. "But I still feel young at heart." In March 2023, his health forced him to cancel a string of then-upcoming U.K. and European tour dates. Writing on Instagram, the singer said, "My singing voice is fine. However, after three operations, stem cell treatments, endless physical therapy sessions, and most recently, groundbreaking Cybernics (HAL) Treatment, my body is still physically weak." That July, Osbourne canceled a performance at Power Trip festival in Indio, Calif. that was set for October 2023. "My original plan was to return to the stage in the summer of 2024, and when the offer to do this show came in, I optimistically moved forward," he wrote on Instagram at the time. New antiques fair with 'high-quality' items coming to Suffolk this month
A new antiques and decorative fair is going to launch in Suffolk this month. The Lomax Antiques Fair is holding the brand-new event over the August bank holiday weekend at Culford School. Held within the grand and historic surroundings of the independent school, just outside Bury St Edmunds, the event promises a vibrant mix of fine antiques, decorative pieces, and vintage finds. A variety of items will be on offer at the fair (Image: Lomax Fairs) A spokesman for the event said: "The venue offers a stunning backdrop and ample opportunity for both seasoned collectors and first-time visitors to browse and buy. READ MORE: Where you can see the Red Arrows this month "Visitors can expect a diverse and high-quality selection of furniture, fine art, jewellery, ceramics, textiles, and quirky decorative treasures from some of the UK's most respected dealers." Dog owners are being told that their four-legged friends are not allowed inside the school building. Earlier this year Culford School hosted the Rotary Classic Car Show, which was attended by thousands of people.
