Tigers' top draft pick hurts hamstring again on return
In a disastrous start to the Tigers' imposing GMHBA Stadium assignment, Lalor limped off the field and was subbed out of the game.
He had tackled Tom Atkins on the outer wing early in the first term, and when Lalor stood up he started limping immediately.
This was his first game since hurting the same hamstring in the round-12 loss to Essendon. Lalor also injured his left hamstring before he was drafted.
The Tigers could have recalled him last week, but deliberately held him back in a bid to make sure he was ready.
Richmond have only won one of their past 15 games at GMHBA Stadium and are trying to pull off a massive upset without key forward Tom Lynch, who has started his five-game suspension.
But the Cats also suffered a pre-game blow, when star on-baller Bailey Smith was a late withdrawal because of illness after he did not train on Friday.

'Up for the taking': Collingwood could lose premiership star to rival AFL club
Leading AFL reporter Cal Twomey believes Jamie Elliott will remain at Collingwood, but the Pies could lose Brody Mihocek if a rival club makes him a better offer. Collingwood have the oldest roster in the AFL, with the average age of their squad almost two years older than the next highest. They recently re-signed Scott Pendlebury and extended the contract of Darcy Cameron, but are facing some tricky calls on some other ageing veterans. There's been suggestions Jeremy Howe could leave, while the futures of Elliott and Mihocek are also under a cloud. Speaking on SEN radio on Thursday, Twomey of said he thinks Elliott will likely stay. The 33-year-old has reportedly been drawing interest from the Gold Coast Suns, and is yet to accept an offer from the Magpies. 'I'm interested in what they do,' Twomey said. 'Elliott's got the two-year offer there (from Collingwood), and there's still no movement there at all. 'He has got a bit of a pull to Queensland, which we've known about previously as well. So, there's still a watch there. I think the most likely scenario would be that Elliott stays, particularly given his form this year.' Brody Mihocek 'up for the taking' from a rival AFL club Elliott and Mihocek are the Pies' two leading goal-kickers, and were both part of the premiership team in 2023. Elliott has 50 goals from 22 games so far in 2025, while Mihocek has 35 goals in 19 games. Mihocek is also set to turn 33 this year, and there's reports he's only been offered a one-year extension. Twomey believes the goal-kicker could be very gettable if a rival club trumps the Pies' offer. 'Mihocek I think is up for the taking if someone comes with a longer offer,' Twomey said. 'His manager has been overseas in recent weeks, so that's probably stopped that one in its tracks in recent times. 'Obviously, they're in the chase for Jack Silvagni as well as a free agent. So, they're juggling a few things after managing to get the Darcy Cameron deal done recently too.' As Twomey stated, Collingwood are trying to sign Silvagni from Carlton. However the Western Bulldogs are believed to be closing the gap after the Pies were initially believed to be the front-runners. Will Hoskin-Elliott announces retirement Elsewhere at Collingwood, fellow premiership player Will Hoskin-Elliott announced on Wednesday he'll retire at the end of the AFL season. The 31-year-old, who started his career as an inaugural GWS player, was a key member of the Magpies' flag triumph in 2023. However he was dropped for the loss against Adelaide last week, and faces a fight to win his spot back for the upcoming finals. Hoskin-Elliott has played 242 career games and told teammates and staff of his decision to hang up his boots on Wednesday. "I'm proud and honoured to call myself a Collingwood player and I have loved my time in the black and white," Hoskin-Elliott said. "I leave with incredible memories, lifelong friendships and I can't wait to see what the rest of this season holds for us. "Running out in the black and white, alongside my teammates, with the Magpie Army behind us, is so special. The feeling of hearing 'Collingwood' echo around the MCG, knowing we have such incredible fans, is what makes me so proud to play for Collingwood." Broncos confirm signing of Cowboys half as Roosters gun switches to North Queensland
The Brisbane Broncos have taken advantage of the halves situation at North Queensland after signing young playmaker Tom Duffy for next season. While the Cowboys have boosted stocks in their outside backs for 2026 after snapping up emerging Roosters talent Ethan King, in a move that will see the 22-year-old return to North Queensland. King has struggled to break into the Roosters' star-studded backline after earning his NRL debut in round 18 last year. He's been named at 18th man for the the Tri Colours' clash against Parramatta on Saturday, but says the opportunity to move back to North Queensland where he spent much of his youth, was too good an opportunity to pass up. 'I'm very excited (about the move), King said. 'It looks like a great club looking in and I'm really keen to get up there and put my best foot forward and try to crack that side. They probably haven't had the best year this year, but they've got a really great squad there and they play a great style of footy." King admits his best position is at fullback but with Scott Drinkwater firmly established in the No.1 role at the Cowboys, he could loom as a replacement for centre Semi Valemei, who's being linked with a move to the English Super League. 'I really feel like my best position is fullback. I feel like I can have a good impact on the game when I'm playing fullback. "But at the same time, if I'm playing NRL, I'm not complaining at all," King said. I just love playing footy, and if you want to put me on the wing or in the centres, I'm happy either way. Playing NRL's really all I'm focused on.' Broncos snap up Cowboys half on one-year deal Meantime, the Broncos have taken advantage of the halves situation at the Cowboys after snapping up fringe playmaker Duffy on a one-year deal for next season. North Queensland coach Todd Payten revealed recently that the club was keen to keep hold of Duffy, but the recent re-signing of Jake Clifford has forced them to let him go. Duffy was the Queensland Cup halfback of the year in 2024 and was named as starting half for the Cowboys at the beginning of the season when Clifford was injured. But his rival half has established himself as first-choice alongside skipper Tom Dearden this season, and Duffy says he's excited for a fresh opportunity to learn from experienced Brisbane halves Adam Reynolds and Ben Hunt in 2026. 'It's pretty appealing to me having Reynolds and Hunt, two 300 game halfbacks there,' Duffy said. The 22-year-old says he can see that Broncos coach Michael Maguire is building something 'special' at the club and he can't wait to be part of it. 'The work ethic you have to have to succeed down there is high, and I want to strive for that,' Duffy added. 'I want to try and earn the respect of the boys and coaching staff and put my best foot forward. I want to keep developing as a halfback, I think I've got a long way to go to reach my ceiling yet.'
