Steam train brings Wallace & Gromit sculptures to Bristol for summer arts trail
The sculpture trail is a joint initiative by The Grand Appeal, the Bristol Children's Hospital Charity, and multi-award winning independent studio Aardman.
The harbour railway train was greeted by school children before one of the sculptures was lifted onto the harbour's heritage cranes and another sent off to its summer location onboard Bristol's former fire-boat, the Pyronaut.
Over the coming days, all 53 sculptures will be delivered to their trail locations, throughout the city of Bristol and beyond ahead of next Monday's launch.
Joining Park's two sculpture designs were creations by Sir Paul McCartney, Pixar, Lucasfilm, Richard Curtis, Jorge R Gutierrez and Peter Lord.
'It's amazing to see such imagination and originality from the artists taking part in our trail this summer,' Park said.
'I've had the privilege of watching the work of such talented creators coming together all in support of a great cause – The Grand Appeal.
'I look forward to a summer of Gromiteering around Bristol and beyond this summer.'
The Gromit Unleashed 3 trail will run from June 30 to August 31.
The trail will be followed by The Greatest Dog Show on Earth exhibition before all the sculptures are auctioned to raise money for The Grand Appeal.
Nicola Masters, director of The Grand Appeal, added: 'It's a cracking day to unleash our 2025 sculptures today – setting the wheels in motion for a grand day out the whole city can enjoy.
'Each sculpture has been brought to life through the magic of film, fables, tales and folklore – a dazzling celebration of storytelling (and) imagination.
'A star-studded spectacle that brings glitz, glamour and a touch of movie magic to the trail.'
Gromit Unleashed 3 is now the fourth sculpture trail by The Grand Appeal and Aardman Animations.
It builds on the success of Gromit Unleashed, Shaun in the City, and Gromit Unleashed 2.

TV fans officially lost it during Thursday's episode of MasterChef after spotting some unusual editing during a sequence involving Gregg Wallace. The TV presenter, 60, has been caught up in a major scandal in the last 12 months that resulted in both him and co-host John Torode, also 60, being removed as presenters from the cooking competition. Several complaints of inappropriate behaviour against Wallace were upheld, though Wallace denied the most serious accusations against him. During the latest episode of the new instalment, which began on August 6, people watching MasterChef at home couldn't help but notice something eerily familiar three times in 30 seconds. In the middle of an exchange with one of the cooking contestants, Wallace can be seen pulling the exact same expression on three separate occasions. Fans immediately speculated that the same footage had been used three times, with TikTok user GingerNatDSN filming the incident from her living room. In the video, she said: 'Okay, the new MasterChef – because they've had to cut out dodgy bits but still keep the presenters in… I still don't understand why they had to keep them in, but that's what they've done. 'They have reused the same bit of Gregg three times,' she added before instructing her viewers to watch and count how many times Wallace's face appeared. On X, @Wozzo22 joked, 'Is this for real?' while several other users responded to the clip with a series of crying laughing emojis to illustrate their reactions. @MarkMcCarthy32 said the clip gave him fond memories of Harry Hill: 'I just know Harry Hill would've had a field day with this on TV Burp.' Some viewers compared it to a famous scene from The Simpsons in which Homer Simpson is crudely edited by a news channel to make it seem like he's about to attack one of the presenters. However, user @IDon'tRememberMyLogin defended the show: 'I work in post-production in UK TV and based on the turnaround time it was probably the quickest fix they could do – just re-use the shot to cover up any cut content. 'The hosts certainly wouldn't be able to be completely edited out, however, unless they re-shot all their bits with new hosts and spliced them in – but that wouldn't really happen due to money.' MasterChef viewers spot huge editing blunder as contestant cut out
MasterChef viewers have spotted a blunder in the editing of one of this week's episodes, where a striking shot of host Gregg Wallace has been used multiple times MasterChef viewers have been left "terrified" after spotting what appears to be an editing blunder in this week's episodes of the BBC competition. It's been a more heavily edited series than usual this year following the sacking of presenters Gregg Wallace and John Torode over the last few months. Last month, production company Banijay UK and the BBC agreed that "Mr Wallace's return to MasterChef is untenable" after a report into historic allegations of misconduct upheld 45 out of 83 allegations against him. Meanwhile, an allegation against Torode of using racist language was also upheld despite the presenter saying that he had "no recollection of the incident". With the current series of MasterChef having been filmed before Wallace and Torode's exits from the show, major edits were made to the episodes which appeared to reduce the presenters' screen time. It comes after Gregg Wallace and John Torode 'lack chemistry' in first MasterChef return after axe. Now, viewers have spotted what they believe are signs that the series' fourth episode has been heavily edited - with one shot of Wallace appearing to be used three different times in one scene. One viewer shared on TikTok: "Okay the new MasterChef - because they've had to cut out dodgy bits but still keep the presenters in. I don't understand why they had to keep them in but that's what they've done. "They have reused the same bit of Gregg three times - watch," she added. Wallace then appears to pull the same smiley face three times during an interview with culinary hopeful Hazel. "This is terrifying," one viewer commented on the vide. Another said: "It looks like they've had a mannequin made of him hoping no one would notice the difference." However, some were convinced that the clip wasn't edited - suggesting that Gregg may have just been holding that face throughout the scene. "It's not edited he just did that face the whole time," one viewer said. Another wrote: "He just always looks like that." A spokesperson for the show's production company, Banijay UK, said: 'One other contributor decided that, given recent events, they would like not to be included. We have, of course, accepted their wishes and edited them out of the show.'

Wallace and Gromit star to make convention debut in Swansea
Ben Whitehead, the official voice of Wallace in the iconic Wallace & Gromit, will appear at Swansea Comic Con on Sunday, October 26, marking his first-ever convention appearance anywhere in the world. Mr Whitehead most recently voiced Wallace in the 2024 Christmas Day special, Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, which became the most-watched animated programme in British television history. Event organisers said: "We're absolutely thrilled to bring Ben Whitehead to Swansea Comic Con for his first-ever convention appearance. "Following the incredible success of the recent Christmas special, Wallace & Gromit has never been more in the spotlight. "Ben's appearance is a huge moment not just for the event, but for fans across the UK. "To host something this exclusive in Swansea, alongside such a fantastic line-up of guests and interactive displays, makes this one our biggest and most exciting shows yet." Mr Whitehead will be joined by a host of celebrity guests, including Paul Kasey, known for portraying numerous Doctor Who monsters and appearing in Star Wars: Rogue One and Torchwood. Christopher Ryan, best known as Mike from The Young Ones and for his role as a Sontaran in Doctor Who, will also attend. Tim Dane Reid, a suit performer and puppeteer known for his creature work in Doctor Who, will be part of the guest line-up. The event will include immersive displays and family-friendly attractions, including character meet and greets with Optimus Prime, Barricade, Bowser, and Tigger. Set displays inspired by Stranger Things, Alien, Super Mario Bros., and Ghostbusters will be featured. Other activities include lightsaber training, Star Wars-themed target practice, a quiet hour for accessibility, and a large marketplace of traders, artists, and cosplay experiences for all ages.
