Barrel Roll: Fleeing Ford Ranger Gets A High Speed PIT Maneuver

If you're thinking an old Ford Ranger sounds like a horrible vehicle to use in a police chase, you would be absolutely correct. After all, they're not exactly fast, their handling is anything but legendary, and let's face it, they're not the most durable thing on the road. But the suspect in this Georgia State Patrol dashcam video seems to take none of that into reason for the initial traffic stop was a simple one: the little truck was going 90 in a 70 mph zone. All this guy had to do was pull over and take the ticket. He didn't want to because there was far more going on. It wouldn't surprise us to learn the guy had his foot planted to the floor as the trooper has no problem keeping up. He accelerates slowly while faking taking an exit, but it's so obvious because the truck handles like it's on skis. At that point, even if you were clueless about how cars work, you'd realize the cop is keeping up no problem. And if you have a shred of intelligence, you would just pull over and give up. But this guy keeps pushing it as if by some miracle the Ranger will suddenly burst away. But that doesn't happen. Instead, the trooper gets into position and in no time does a PIT maneuver, sending the little truck into a high-speed barrel roll. This isn't the kind of vehicle we would want for a dangerous situation like that. To the shock of nobody, after this mess, the trooper suspected the driver had been drinking. When asked if that was true, out suspect reportedly said he had. It's almost like alcohol consumption often leads to poor choices. Hebron man charged with leaving fatal crash

A Hebron man is facing charges after allegedly killing a motorcyclist, then taking off. Leevi Taylor, 26, is charged with one count of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death to another person, a Level 4 felony. He is in custody, held on a $2,500 cash bond. The victim was identified as Jared Klassen. The crash happened just before 11:30 p.m. Aug. 2 near W. 133rd Avenue and Cleveland Street in Crown Point. Police concluded Taylor rear-ended Klassen on a motorcycle, then fled. Klassen died at the scene. Porter County Sheriff's Department arrested Taylor at his home. His gold Ford Ranger had extensive front-end damage. Taylor told officers he thought he hit a deer going home from a friend's home where he had a few beers. He voluntarily had his blood drawn for toxicology tests. The results are still pending. A field breathalyzer registered a .082% blood-alcohol level, documents show. He told police he wasn't sure why he didn't stop to check what he hit, or call police. He added he didn't wear his glasses while driving home. Officers wrote he was 'remorseful' and 'continued to ask if anyone was hurt and that he really hoped he didn't hurt someone.' A Ring video recorded the sound of a loud crash.

Two children among 5 people killed in head-on collision in KZN

Five people died in a head-on collision between a Hyundai Grand i10 and a Ford Ranger on the R66 near Gingindlovu, KwaZulu-Natal. Three passengers in the Hyundai Grand i10 and all four of the passengers in the Ford Ranger survived. MEC Siboniso Duma has instructed the Road Traffic Inspectorate to strengthen road safety measures as traffic volumes are expected to increase at the end of the school holidays. Two children were among five people killed in a head-on collision on the R66 near Dokodweni in Gingindlovu, KwaZulu-Natal, on Sunday night – just two days before schools were set to reopen. The two vehicles involved in the collision – a Hyundai Grand i10 and a Ford Ranger – were travelling in opposite directions at the time. Transport and Human Settlements MEC Siboniso Duma said: 'It is with great sadness that we report the loss of five lives – three adults and two children – following this tragic accident,' Duma said. According to preliminary Road Traffic Information (RTI) reports, eight passengers in the Hyundai Grand i10 were travelling from Nongoma to Durban. Three of them survived. There were four passengers in the Ford Ranger LDV, which was travelling towards Gingindlovu. All of them survived. Dumas said early indications suggested the driver of the Ford Ranger lost control and collided head-on with the Hyundai. 'This incident is a painful reminder of the responsibility we all carry on the roads,' he said. He has since asked the RTI to strengthen road safety operations as traffic volumes are expected to rise with the end of the school holidays. 'We cannot allow any more families to suffer such devastating losses. We will intensify law enforcement and public awareness to ensure safer roads for all,' the MEC said. 'We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased.'
