Responsive launches Agent Studio to automate RFP processes

Techday NZ20-05-2025
Responsive has announced the launch of Agent Studio, a no-code platform that enables enterprise sales and proposal teams to create custom AI agents for managing compliance, risk assessments, content management, and other tasks involved in the RFP process.
This new offering allows users, including those at large organisations such as SAP, to automate critical review processes and surface key insights across substantial volumes of business opportunities. The introduction comes as Responsive reports having managed over USD $750 billion in opportunities through its platform to date.
Agent Studio is designed as a no-code environment for users to build AI agents capable of handling tasks such as content clean-up, compliance reviews, archiving, tagging, and identifying outdated information. Teams can schedule agents, trigger them on demand, and monitor their operations, ensuring clear governance and complete audit trails. Responsive will also provide Professional Services support to assist customers with their requirements when building custom agents.
Jamie Ninneman, Global Head of RFx Advisory at SAP, said: "The future lies in democratizing access to institutional knowledge—and AI is central to that shift. Responsive has been a valuable leader in this journey, helping companies scale how they respond, collaborate, and accelerate their transformation with Strategic Response Management."
According to AJ Sunder, Chief Product and Information Officer at Responsive: "Custom AI agents are the next productivity revolution—and with Agent Studio, any team can build them without heavy development or deep technical expertise. Sales and proposal teams can now build agents tailored to their specific needs. As customers apply these agents to real business problems, we gain early insight into the next wave of high-impact AI use cases that will shape the future of work."
Agent Studio is introduced alongside two new AI agents: Analysis Agent and Answering Agent. The Analysis Agent has been integrated into Responsive's conversational interface, Ask, to review RFPs, RFIs and related documents. It extracts critical requirements and surfaces potential risks, providing sales teams with concise assessments to enable faster and better-informed go/no-go decisions.
The Answering Agent, also available in Slack and within Ask, drafts responses for RFPs, questionnaires, and ad hoc questions, drawing from vetted organisational content while providing appropriate citations. This is intended to support teams in developing high-quality responses more efficiently, based on trusted internal knowledge.
In addition to enhancing agent capabilities, Responsive is introducing Guided Projects, a self-serve AI tool designed to empower field teams to respond to RFPs and assessments without always relying on central proposal or bid teams. Guided Projects extracts key requirements, drafts responses, performs compliance checks, and enables teams such as sales, customer success, and solution consulting to independently manage complex responses.
Alexis Hourselt, Interim Director, Proposal Center of Excellence at Microsoft, commented on the company's collaboration with Responsive: "At Microsoft, empowering our field teams with greater self-service capabilities is central to our strategy. As an early partner of Responsive, we're collaborating to innovate on solutions like Guided Projects that enable our teams to operate more independently and effectively."
To address ongoing challenges regarding quality and accuracy in AI-generated responses, Responsive has introduced TRACE Score, an industry-first content scoring system that objectively assesses responses. In parallel, the Quality Check tool provides automated auditing for content review and validation. These features aim to mitigate risk and ensure that responses produced by AI agents meet required standards for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
Responsive's leadership in Strategic Response Management is also highlighted by recognition from industry bodies and research organisations, including being named a "Leader" in the Aragon Research "Globe for Strategic Response Management, 2025" and ranking #1 in global RFP software on G2 for 25 consecutive quarters. Its TRACE Score was also cited among the top AI-enabled products for go-to-market strategies by SilconANGLE Media in their 2025 Tech Innovation CUBEd Awards.
These developments continue Responsive's focus on enabling enterprise customers to manage and share operational knowledge at scale, respond to business requests efficiently, and maintain consistency and quality in their strategic responses across global teams.

Ransom payments surge to USD $1.13 million as data theft rises

Coveware by Veeam has released its Q2 2025 ransomware report, indicating significant increases in both the frequency and financial impact of targeted social engineering attacks, particularly those involving data exfiltration. The report highlights that average and median ransom payments rose sharply during the second quarter. The average ransom reached USD $1.13 million, a 104% increase from Q1 2025, while the median doubled to USD $400,000. This escalation follows a pattern of more significant demands after incidents in which data is stolen rather than systems encrypted. Social engineering threats According to Coveware by Veeam, three major ransomware groups - Scattered Spider, Silent Ransom, and Shiny Hunters - dominated activity in Q2. These offenders shifted away from broad, opportunistic attacks to highly targeted campaigns, employing sophisticated impersonation techniques. The tactics included posing as employees or service providers to breach help desks and exploit internal processes. "The second quarter of 2025 marks a turning point in ransomware, as targeted social engineering and data exfiltration have become the dominant playbook," said Bill Siegel, CEO of Coveware by Veeam. "Attackers aren't just after your backups – they're after your people, your processes, and your data's reputation. Organisations must prioritize employee awareness, harden identity controls, and treat data exfiltration as an urgent risk, not an afterthought," Data exfiltration on the rise The report found that data theft is now prioritised over encryption in extortion efforts. Exfiltration was involved in 74% of ransomware cases handled by Coveware in Q2. Attackers increasingly rely on multi-extortion tactics and are known to issue delayed threats, prolonging risks to targeted organisations long after the initial breach is detected and contained. Targeted sectors and company sizes Analysis of the case data indicates that the professional services, healthcare, and consumer services sectors accounted for the highest proportion of incidents, comprising 19.7%, 13.7%, and 13.7% of attacks, respectively. Mid-sized enterprises, defined as those employing between 11 and 1,000 people, represented 64% of victim organisations. The report notes that attackers view such companies as offering the best balance between substantial ransom payout potential and relatively less developed cyber defences. Attack methods and vulnerabilities Credential compromise, phishing emails, and exploitation of internet-facing services remain the principal means of obtaining initial access to victim networks. The report also points to increased exploitation of vulnerabilities in well-known platforms including Ivanti, Fortinet, and VMware. Simultaneously, there has been a rise in attacks by so-called "lone wolf" perpetrators. These individuals are described as seasoned extortionists who use generic toolkits, but without clear branding or affiliation to known ransomware groups. The top ransomware variants in Q2 were named as Akira (19%), Qilin (13%), and Lone Wolf (9%). For the first time, Silent Ransom and Shiny Hunters also appeared within the top five variants monitored. Ransom payment dynamics The report attributes the dramatic increase in payment values largely to larger organisations choosing to pay ransoms following theft of sensitive data. This occurred even as the overall percentage of organisations agreeing to pay ransoms remained steady at 26%. Coveware by Veeam reports that its findings are based on proprietary data collected during incident response engagements, rather than external or third-party sources. The company utilises forensic tools and detailed documentation of threat actor behaviour to generate its quarterly insights. These reports are intended to offer actionable guidance on ongoing trends and new tactics, techniques, and procedures emerging within the ransomware landscape. Through real-time analysis, Coveware by Veeam has identified patterns that inform recommendations for enhancing organisational defences, such as improved employee training, more rigorous identity management protocols, and preparedness for incidents focused purely on data theft.

Refold AI raises USD $6.5m to automate enterprise API tasks

Refold AI has emerged from stealth with USD $6.5 million in seed funding to offer a platform designed to simplify enterprise API integrations using artificial intelligence. Enterprises collectively spend an estimated USD $350 billion every year on consultancies and system integrators to ensure their APIs function as required. Refold AI, a startup based in San Mateo and Bangalore, states that its platform can replace these manual, outsourced efforts with AI-native infrastructure, reducing integration costs and complexity for businesses. The funding round was led by Eniac Ventures and Tidal Ventures, with participation from Better Capital, Ahead VC, Karman Ventures, Z21 and individual investors. The company intends to use the proceeds to hire additional engineers, expand product integrations, and provide further support for its enterprise clients. Addressing enterprise integration Refold AI was founded by the team behind medical technology startup JustDoc, who identified inefficiencies in existing integration processes, particularly during their work with large-scale SAP environments. Jugal Anchalia, Refold's Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, described the origins of the company's mission: "We were spending more time managing chaos than building software. We started Refold with a simple idea: integrations are repeatable and cumbersome, it should not need humans." The company's offering has attracted over 30 paying enterprise customers, including Incorta and Naehas. Refold reports it has doubled its customer base in the last two months, now supporting over 1,500 active users and processing more than 30 million API calls monthly, with annual recurring revenue in the seven-figure range. AI-native approach Refold's approach centres on automated, self-learning agents to manage integrations. Instead of relying on middleware solutions or teams of developers to handle system connectivity, Refold's platform deploys autonomous agents that learn system behaviours, generate and maintain integration code, and adapt as the underlying software changes. The company states the platform is actively used for use cases such as synchronising ERP and CRM systems, automating finance processes, and supporting critical supply chain operations. The platform is built on a three-layered architecture. The first layer, Workflow Code Agents, allows engineering teams to produce, test, and maintain integration logic. On top of this is the MCP Chains interface, a natural language tool enabling business teams to describe requirements and have agents automatically generate workflows. The third layer offers an Embedded Integrations Platform, providing software-as-a-service (SaaS) teams with a toolkit and prebuilt UI components for native integrations. Each layer is designed to accelerate implementation timelines and reduce reliance on bespoke service requests. Refold's agents use reasoning and reinforcement learning techniques to deliver and maintain integrations. The company claims to have automated tasks such as financial reconciliation, supply chain inventory synchronisation, and real-time data pipelines between core enterprise systems, tasks that previously required months of effort to deliver and maintain. Moving towards automation Abhishek Kumar, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer of Refold, commented on the company's objective: "We're not building another workflow tool. We're replacing the consultant economy with agents that learn and scale. In the future, integrations should be free, fast, and invisible." The company currently employs 20 staff across its offices in San Mateo and Bangalore and plans to increase this to 30 by the end of the year as it works to expand the platform and its library of enterprise integrations. Hadley Harris, Founding General Partner at Eniac Ventures, said: "As we enter the agentic era, enterprise integrations stand out as one of the most compelling and valuable use cases. For decades, companies have burned billions on brittle, bloated workflows. Refold has rebuilt the stack from the ground up to make integrations seamless and intelligent, and the market is already catching on." Nicholas Muy, Venture Partner at Tidal Ventures, also weighed in: "Finally, someone is fixing the most broken part of enterprise software. For decades, we've been patching integrations with expensive consultants and manual work. Refold's AI agents don't just patch the problem - they eliminate it. This is a fundamental leap forward." Refold seeks to position its software as an invisible 'logic layer' within enterprise AI stacks as businesses look to modernise and streamline their integration processes.
