
Family business contributes Dh40 million in support of Life Endowment campaign
ABU DHABI (WAM) A UAE family business has contributed Dh40 million to the Life Endowment campaign launched by the Endowments and Minors Funds Authority (Awqaf Abu Dhabi) under the slogan 'With You For Life.'This contribution is part of a community wide show of support to the campaign by individuals, institutions and business leaders, reflecting the culture of compassion and solidarity deeply rooted in UAE society.The Life Endowment campaign aims to enhance the sustainability of healthcare services and provide long-term funding to treat patients with chronic illnesses and People of Determination, while supporting the healthcare system to strengthen its capacity to navigate future challenges.The campaign further aims to maximise the returns of the endowment and direct them toward healthcare programmes that improve quality of life and help build a healthy, sustainable society.The campaign also seeks to promote the concept of endowment as a development tool that supports social solidarity. Gaza records 69 casualties in 24 hours

UAE hosts inaugural Operation Smile MENA Student Conference 2025 in Abu Dhabi
11 Aug 2025 18:28 ABU DHABI (WAM)Operation Smile UAE organised the Operation Smile MENA Student Conference 2025 (MENASC 2025), a first-of-its-kind youth healthcare leadership summit in the Middle East and North Africa, under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Alyazia bint Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, wife of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign conference took place from August 9-11, 2025 at Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Awal School, Abu Dhabi.A total of 50 high school students aged 15–18 from Morocco, Egypt, Palestine, Jordan and the UAE participated in three days of intensive workshops focused on the theme 'Empowering Youth, Transforming Lives'.Students were equipped with the knowledge, skills and inspiration to champion comprehensive cleft care and health equity in their over 40 years, Operation Smile has embraced young leaders as a driving force with their 'can do', spirit and enthusiasm. The inaugural MENASC 2025 continues to invest in youth empowerment.'We are excited to launch this first-of-its-kind conference in the MENA region,' said Morag Cromey-Hawke, Executive Director of Operation Smile UAE.'By uniting students from diverse cultures under a common mission, we empower a generation of compassionate young leaders. Sheikh Sultan directs constructing of 'Social Care Complex'; new grant to help families in emirate live better
His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, recently announced plans to build a new "Social Care Complex" in the Al Ruwaidat area. This complex will bring together several important facilities all in one place. It will include a centre to protect and support women, a home for the elderly, a mental health facility, and a care home for children. Sheikh Sultan has also announced a new grant to help families in the emirate live better. This programme will provide financial assistance to 3,162 families with two or more members who are registered with the department. The goal is to help these families increase their monthly income to Dhs17,500, which is seen as a reasonable standard of living. WAM
