Asian Cup: Shiv Sena holds protest against BCCI for agreeing to India-Pakistan clash

Jammu, Aug 2 (UNI) Amidst protest, Jammu and Kashmir unit of Shiv Sena (UBT) today protested against the BCCI for agreeing to play against the Pakistan in an upcoming Asia Cup stating that restoration of sports relations with Pakistan, which has been playing the dirty game of terrorism for the last four decades will be an act that hurts the public sentiments of the nation.
"Restoration of sports relations with Pakistan, which has been playing the dirty game of terrorism for the last four decades in Jammu and Kashmir including Pulwama, Pahalgam attacks, will be an act that hurts the public sentiments of the nation, betting money during the match nourishes terrorism, when water, air space can be stopped, why sports relations?" said Manish Sahni, President, Shiv Sena (UBT) while leading the protest.
Sahni led Shiv Sena activists demonstrated near the Muthi holding placards that read "Sports relations with the killers of Sindoor are intolerable", "Water and airspace stopped, why Cricket ?", "Nurturing terrorism through match betting", etc.
Sahni said that any kind of relations with the enemies of "Sindoor" cannot be tolerated.
After being humiliated and pleading during Operation Sindoor, Pakistan has once again started infiltrating the border and nurturing terrorists. 98 terrorist incidents took place in Jammu and Kashmir from January to July this year (2025) and 32 terrorists were killed, he said.
After "Operation Sindoor", 13 terrorists were killed in 13 incidents in May, four terrorists were killed in 12 incidents in June and three terrorists were killed in eught incidents in July.
On the very first day of August, a terrorist was killed in Kulgam, Kashmir, while the encounter is still going on, Sahni said adding that the tail named Pakistan will never straighten up. During the Indo-Pak cricket match, betting kingpin Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar and his henchmen hiding in Pakistan's lap become more active.
Because the most betting is done when these two countries come face to face.
A large part of this money is used to nurture terrorists, he added.
Sahni has also accused BCCI of hurting national sentiments and filling its coffers.
He has advised BCCI to learn from Indian players (who had clearly refused to play league and semi-finals with Pakistan) during the recently organized Championship of Legends.
Sahni has demanded the Modi government to issue strict instructions to BCCI regarding not playing matches with Pakistan.
Along with this, love for the country in case of a match with India, he has appealed to boycott the stadium and the TV channels broadcasting the match.
Asia Cricket Cup 2025 is starting from 9 September.
According to the released schedule, there will be two matches between India and Pakistan in the tournament. On the other hand, if both the teams reach the final, then there will be a match between India and Pakistan thrice.

'No review of pacts, duty on US goods': MEA on speculation over India's response to Trump's tariff; 'disinformation being spread'

MEA FactCheck NEW DELHI: The ministry of external affairs on Sunday debunked claims doing the rounds on social media that "India is considering suspending or reviewing certain bilateral agreements with the United States if hostile economic policies continue". Posting a snapshot from two X handles -- Middle Eastern Affairs and China in English, the foreign ministry said: "Disinformation being spread on X". — MEAFactCheck (@MEAFactCheck) This comes at a time when India-US trade relations hit a bump after US President Donald Trump declared a 25 per cent tariff on Indian goods, even as both nations continue to negotiate a trade deal. Trump also warned of additional penalties on India for buying Russian arms and oil and expressed displeasure over BRICS, of which India is a member, and called India a "dead economy". Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday made a strong appeal for reviving the spirit of Swadeshi, urging Indians to prioritise locally-made products and stand united in the face of growing global economic uncertainty. Speaking at a public meeting in his Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency, PM Modi warned that the world economy is entering a phase of instability and unpredictability. Calling for a nationwide movement to support indigenous industry, the Prime Minister said the time had come for every Indian, across political lines, to rise above partisanship and back the local economy. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trapani: Unsold Furniture Liquidation 2024 (Prices May Surprise You) Unsold Furniture | Search Ads Learn More Undo "This is not just about Modi saying it, every Indian should say this, if we want India to become the third-largest economy, every political party and every leader, keeping aside their hesitations, must work in the nation's interest and awaken the spirit of Swadeshi among the people," he said.

Kapil Sharma Reacts To Canada Cafe Attack For The First Time: ‘United We Stand Against Violence'

Last Updated: Kapil Sharma and wife Ginni reacted to the firing at their Canada café, sharing a video with officials and stating, 'United we stand against violence.' Kapil Sharma's Canada cafe, named Cap's Cafe, reopened its doors for guests recently after a horrifying firing incident happened outside the eatery by unidentified individuals. Since the firing incident happened, Kapil Sharma hasn't given any direct reaction until today, but almost a month after the reopening of the café, Kapil Sharma and his wife Ginni Chatrath have reacted to the incident with a video. Kapil Sharma, in a collab post with his wife Ginni, shared a video of officials visiting his café as they enjoy a peaceful meal days after the incident and attached it with a caption making it clear that they do not support any sort of violence. While sharing the clip, Kapil and his wife wrote, 'Thank you Mayor Brenda Locke, @surreypoliceservice and all the officials who visited @thekapscafe_ to show their love and support. United we stand against violence. We're truly grateful." As soon as Kapil shared this post, his fans started reacting and sharing happy wishes to him. Vindu Dara Singh wrote, 'Will visit soon!" 'Wow, this is so beautiful & amazing Kapil bhai!! Kabhi Canada aaoonga to yahan jarur visit karunga," a fan wrote. Meanwhile, a third fan commented, 'Indian police family eating with US police… only at Kaps Café." About the attack On July 10, the newly opened café owned by comedian Kapil Sharma and his wife, Ginni Chatrath, was attacked. Several shots were fired at Kaps Café, which had recently celebrated a soft opening and gained attention for its elegant pink-and-white decor, floral accents, and a menu featuring artisan coffee and desserts. What began as a celebration quickly turned chaotic as the establishment was vandalised. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the property did suffer damage. Authorities suspect that the attack was a targeted strike by the Laddi gang, associated with the banned Khalistani terrorist group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). Laddi is wanted in India for numerous terror-related offences and is believed to be the mastermind behind several recent attacks on Hindu leaders and pro-India individuals. As per a TellyChakkar report, Kapil was reportedly questioned by the Mumbai Police after the firing incident at his café in Canada. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Ahead of civic polls, Maharashtra BJP chief stakes claim for KDMC mayor's post

Kalyan: The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC), long led by a Shiv Sena mayor, may soon witness a major political shift. With civic elections around the corner, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has formally staked its claim to the mayoral post, signalling growing friction within the ruling Mahayuti alliance. BJP's Maharashtra president and Dombivli MLA Ravindra Chavan on Sunday made a strong statement during a party induction event held in Kalyan. Chavan asserted that the BJP must lead KDMC to overcome the regional development challenges. "It is essential that the next mayor of KDMC comes from the BJP to ensure effective governance and rapid progress," Chavan said. The event also marked the entry of prominent social worker Jatin Prajapati into the BJP, along with hundreds of his supporters from other political parties. Prajapati, who was active in Kalyan's civic and social circles for over two decades, is expected to boost BJP's grassroots strength in the city. Shinde's son and Kalyan MP Dr Shrikant Shinde is also actively working to expand the party's presence in the region. With the BJP now aggressively mobilising at the local level under Chavan's leadership, and being the second-largest party in KDMC previously, a competitive showdown between the two alliance partners appears inevitable. The upcoming civic elections are likely to test the unity of the Mahayuti alliance in Kalyan-Dombivli.
