Rider seeking cash-in services robs store in Talamban, Cebu City
First, the suspect pretended to be a customer.
The incident took place past 3 p.m. on July 16, 2025 in Sitio Kalubihan, Barangay Talamban.
The suspect, according to Talamban Police Station 8 of the Cebu City Police Office, requested cash-in services worth P5,000 of an e-wallet app, but the owner of the store has instructed the store attendant to always ask for the money first before keying in the request on the digital app.
As the suspect failed to provide any cash, the store attendant did not pursue the transaction.
Later, the suspect went nearer to the store attendant and pretended to purchase an item, and declared a holdup.
Police investigation disclosed that the robber poked a knife at the store attendant.
He carted away store proceeds worth about P1,000 and a cellphone worth P8,000.

4 of 6 suspects in cigarette theft in south Cebu fall
Authorities collared four of six suspects in an incident of theft in Malabuyoc town, southern Cebu Province. The four were reported to have stolen cartons of cigarettes in Barangay Poblacion Uno, Malabuyoc. The four were arrested in a hot pursuit operation conducted by personnel of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Cebu Provincial Field Unit, and police personnel from Toledo City and Malabuyoc. The four were identified positively as the persons caught on closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera stealing three boxes of cigarettes from a grocery store in Malabuyoc. The loot was estimated to be worth P240,000. The suspects were nabbed in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City. As of this writing, they are now under the custody of Malabuyoc Police. Charges are set to be filed against them.

More than P300K raised from ticket sales in charity boxing event with Baste, says Torre
Philippine National Police chief Police General Nicolas Torre III said more than P300,000 was raised from the ticket sales alone of the "Boxing for a Cause: Laban Para sa Nasalanta" event held at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila on Sunday. Torre was supposed to face Davao City acting mayor Sebastian "Baste" Duterte in the main event, although the former was declared winner by default as the latter did not show up. "Marami ang nagbayad. Nakalikom tayo ng mga P350,000 sa gates eh, so we have to show up and give the people what they expect," Torre told reporters. (Many paid [for tickets]. We were able to raise around P350,000 at the gates, so we have to show up and give the people what they expect.) Ticket prices for the boxing event ranged from as low as P100 to as high as P5,400. Including the ticket sales, Torre said they have raised around P16.3 million in cash donations, on top of donations in kind such as canned goods and sacks of rice. These will be for the benefit of Filipinos who were among those affected by the flooding due to the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and tropical cyclones Crising, Dante, and Emong. According to Torre, they have coordinated with the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Philippine Red Cross regarding the donations. The PNP chief added he will go to the Baseco community in Manila to distribute relief goods. Torre said the urgency of helping those in need of relief was the reason why the event pushed through as well, despite earlier statements that Duterte may not show up. P500K worth of missing jewelry in NAIA found
A female passenger who lost P500,000 worth of jewelry at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 was able to recover the missing items. In a social media post, passenger Kimberly Nakamura said her jewelry box containing wedding rings, a diamond necklace, and earrings went missing at NAIA during her flight to Singapore on June 28. She reached out to Cebu Pacific, the Changi Airport in Singapore, and NAIA 3, but no items were found. After posting on Facebook, a Cebu Pacific agent informed Nakamura that the jewelry box was seen at Gate 104 at NAIA 3. Upon reviewing CCTV footage, Nakamura said more than 10 airport personnel were seen handling the jewelry box from June 28 to June 29. 'This marked the beginning of a series of mishandlings that led to the disappearance of both rings. From a simple lost and found case, it became theft,' Nakamura said. On July 8, Nakamura said her jewelry box, containing only the earrings and necklace, was recovered by the Airport Police Department. 'The staff member who surrendered the item later confessed to taking it home for personal use. She stated there were no rings inside when she found the jewelry box,' Nakamura recounted. Her husband's ring was returned on July 13 after she earlier warned the involved personnel that she will press charges for gross negligence and qualified theft. The following day, Nakamura said she received an anonymous text message saying her ring was hidden under a table at Gate 104. 'We recovered everything po. My diamond necklace and two platinum wedding rings with diamond stones. But my husband's ring was heavily scratched kasi nilagay lang daw sa bag. But anyway, we will rebuff it na lang po (because it was put in a bag, but we will rebuff it). Estimated value is P500,000,' Nakamura told GMA News Online. 'It was very distressing, but we're very happy and at peace now,' she added. Nakamura urged NAIA to take action as the person who stole her ring remains unidentified. 'This must not be tolerated. I urge you to take action so that no one else has to go through what I did. Your employees were involved in acts of dishonesty and negligence, and such behavior has no place in any responsible system,' Nakamura said. Manila International Airport Authority General Manager Eric Ines assured that the involved personnel will be held accountable. 'Even though the victim did not pursue legal action, we are coordinating with the concerned airlines and security agencies to ensure that those involved are held accountable. This behavior has no place in our airport,' Ines said in a statement. He urged the involved airlines and security agencies to take disciplinary action against those responsible for the missing jewelry.
