Three people died after a closed van crashed into several vehicles along Bokawkan Road in Baguio City early Wednesday morning, May 29. According to a report by CJ Torida of GMA Regional TV on "24 Oras," the accident happened at around 3:30 a.m. when the closed van rammed into a utility van coming from the opposite direction, before hitting traffic signage and slamming into parked SUVs and AUVs on the roadside. The front of the van was completely wrecked following the multiple collisions. Authorities said the vehicle was heading downhill when the incident occurred. 'Pababa siya. Mabilis at medyo pagewang-gewang. At doon nabangga niya 'yung nakasalubong niyang [Tamaraw FX] paakyat naman ng Bokawkan,' said PMaj. Mary Grace Marron, spokesperson of the Baguio City Police Office. (It was going downhill. Fast and a bit swerving. Then it hit the [Tamaraw FX] coming up Bokawkan.) The driver and two delivery helpers of the closed van were trapped inside the vehicle. Responding authorities had to use a metal saw to retrieve the bodies. 'Unfortunately, 'yung driver ng van at 'yung dalawa nitong pasahero ay binawian ng buhay,' Police Major Mary Grace Marron said. (Unfortunately, the driver and the two passengers of the van died,' she said.) The van was loaded with various auto parts for delivery to locations in Baguio and La Trinidad, Benguet. Authorities clarified that the victims were not under the influence of alcohol. The driver, a native of Marilao, Bulacan, was among those killed. Police are still verifying the identity and residence of the two helpers. Meanwhile, the driver of the utility van initially hit by the closed van sustained injuries and is currently under observation at a hospital. 'Patuloy pa rin pong inaalam kung ano talaga 'yung [sanhi]. Kasi initially po, human error. On going pa rin 'yung pag-i-investigate,' Marron said . (We are still determining the actual cause. Initially, it appears to be human error. The investigation is still ongoing.) According to the report, weapons valued at over Rs83.4 million went missing from the Muzaffargarh DPO office between 2021 and 2023. Additionally, arms and ammunition worth more than Rs 47.1 million are unaccounted for at the DIG Operations office in Lahore, while weapons worth over Rs 46.8 million missing from the Police Office in Lahore remain unrecovered. Similarly, rifles and ammunition worth over Rs7.4 million have gone missing from the CPO Multan's office. Records of rifles issued to various officers in 2009 are untraceable at Central Jail Lahore. Weapons and equipment valued at Rs5.614 million are missing from the DPO Sialkot office, while arms worth Rs4.3 million have disappeared from the DPO Sahiwal office. Additionally, weapons and equipment worth more than Rs3.8 million are unaccounted for at the DPO Okara office. Inquiry committee formed Authorities have formed an inquiry committee to ascertain the whereabouts of the missing arms and ammunition. The committee will be headed by the Additional IG Special Branch, with the Director-General Monitoring and the Additional Secretary Judicial (Home) as members. The committee has been asked to submit a report on its findings in 10 days, with details about the irregularities mentioned. Meanwhile, the home department clarified that it does not directly store weapons; instead, the arms are held by law enforcement agencies, which are responsible and accountable for their use. Action will be taken against those found liable once the inquiry report is received, the spokesperson said, quoting the home secretary.

The brown dog, identifiable by distinct dark markings on her face and ears, was discovered on Finnart Street at around 11am on Sunday, May 18, 2025, and is currently being cared for at the London Road Police Office. While the dog is microchipped, officers have been unable to retrieve the owner's contact details. "She is a young female Belgian Malinois, brown with dark markings on her face and ears. She does have a microchip, but sadly, the owner's details are unavailable. "We would love to reunite this good girl with her owner. "If anyone has information about who she belongs to, please contact 101, quoting incident number 1274 of May 18 2025."
