Lily Allen Apologises To Katy Perry For ‘Mean' Space Trip Comment
Famous pop singer Katy Perry recently made headlines for her participation in the all-female space trip organised by Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin. The 11-minute space trip included notable women such as Lauren Sanchez, film producer Kerianne Flynn, television host Gayle King, NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, and civil rights activist and scientist Amanda Nguyen.
While the space journey was hailed as historic by some, it also sparked criticism. Many celebrities criticised Katy and called her decision tasteless. Among them was actor and singer Lily Allen, who referred to the flight as 'out of touch," during an April 17 episode of her podcast Miss Me? 'I just think it's so out of touch. We're on the brink of recession, people are f–king struggling to make ends meet and get food on their table," Allen said.
But, in a turn of events, she publicly apologised during the April 28 episode of her podcast, calling her previous remarks a reflection of her 'own internalised misogyny." According to US Weekly, the apology came after her co-host, Miquita Oliver, mentioned Meghan Markle, prompting Lily to reflect on her comments.
'Because we're talking about a very famous female person who's a bit divisive, I would like to apologize for being mean about Katy Perry last week. There was actually no need for me to bring her name into it, and it was my own internalised misogyny," Lily Allen said. She further added, 'I've been thinking about it a lot, and it was just completely unnecessary to pile on with her. I do disagree with what it was that they did, but she wasn't the only person that did it. She was possibly the most famous and the one that divides people the most. There was something in me that decided to choose her as the person that should… Anyway, I just, I'm really sorry."
Allen apologised to Perry saying, 'I would have been hurt if it had been me and someone in my industry used me and my name. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Katy Perry, I know you don't listen to the show, but yeah, sorry."
While Allen took her comments back, she was not alone in her criticism about the all-female space tour. Celebrities like Joe Rogan, Jessica Chastain and Olivia Wilde also voiced concerns over the Blue Origin Space flight.
Following the backlash, Katy Perry reportedly experienced a dip in ticket sales for her Lifetimes Tour. During her April 23 concert in Mexico, she addressed the crowd, asking, 'Has anyone ever called your dreams crazy?"

Shubhanshu Shukla's Emotional Instagram Post As He Heads Back To India
India's astronaut Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, after his 18-day mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS), has announced on Instagram that he is 'coming back to India.' In an emotional note, which was written from the aircraft, Shukla confessed to experiencing a whirlwind of emotions. 'As I sit on the plane to come back to India, I have a mix of emotions running through my heart. I feel sad leaving a fantastic group of people behind who were my friends and family for the past year during this mission. I am also excited about meeting all my friends, family and everyone in the country for the first time post mission. I guess this is what life is — everything all at once,' he said. Mr Shukla went on to acknowledge the support he has received throughout the mission, stating, 'Having received incredible love and support from everyone during and after the mission, I can't wait to come back to India to share my experiences with all of you.' The astronaut also reflected on the inevitability of change, drawing inspiration from his commander, Peggy Whitson. 'Goodbyes are hard, but we need to keep moving in life. As my commander Peggy Whitson fondly says, 'The only constant in spaceflight is change'. I believe that applies to life as well.' He signed off with a line of the song, Yun Hi Chala Chal, from Shah Rukh Khan's film Swades. 'I guess at the end of the day – ' Yun hi chala chal rahi – jeevan gaadi hai samay pahiya '.' View this post on Instagram A post shared by Shubhanshu Shukla (@ Mr Shukla's return comes at a time of heightened anticipation around India's space ambitions. During his Independence Day address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that Mr Shukla would soon be back in the country. He had assigned Mr Shukla the task of documenting his training and ISS stay, a record that will serve as a reference for Gaganyaan, India's first human spaceflight programme. Over the past year, Mr Shukla has undergone extensive training at NASA, Axiom and SpaceX facilities. His flight to the ISS as part of the Axiom 4 mission marked a big step not only in his career but also in India's preparations for future human space exploration. The Gaganyaan mission is intended to put Indian astronauts, or Gaganyatris, into orbit aboard an Indian rocket, with an entirely indigenous countdown. The government has also announced plans for a Bharatiya Antariksh Station by 2035 and a crewed mission to the moon by 2040.

Not all flights are about where you land... some ...: Lauren Sanchez shares cryptic post on Blue Origin space mission
Source: X Amazon founder Jeff Bezos ' wife, Lauren Sanchez , shared a cryptic message responding to the recent criticism of the Blue Origin space mission. In a recent story shared on the social media site Instagram, she posted a photo of a sunset with the caption: 'Not all flights are about where you land... some are about what you learn along the way.' However, Sanchez did not specify the meaning behind her post or what it was related to, but it was shared months after the Blue Origin spaceflight received widespread backlash. Bezos, who owns Blue Origin, got married to Sanchez in Venice in June. What celebrities and others said about Lauren Sanchez's Blue Origin spaceflight A few months ago, the 11-minute Blue Origin mission carried Sanchez, Katy Perry, Gayle King, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, former rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, and filmmaker Kerianne Flynn into space. Meanwhile, Flight NS-31 marked the first launch with an all-female crew since Russian astronaut Valentina Tereshkova's solo spaceflight in 1963. However, these missions also prompted debate, with some public figures and social media users questioning their purpose and environmental impact. To compare, others described it as a symbolic milestone for women in space exploration. Celebrities, including Olivia Munn, Emily Ratajkowski, and Kesha, were among those who openly criticised Sanchez's spaceflight. In a statement to the Daily Mail, Dr Gareth Dorrian, a space scientist from the University of Birmingham, said: 'Let's call it what it is and not tell ourselves that it is contributing meaningfully to science or space exploration. I am afraid I do still think these flights are essentially just joyrides for the super-rich.' Sanchez and her fellow crewmates did reach space, though some remain unconvinced they should be referred to as 'astronauts,' as Blue Origin described them. The New Shepard rocket carried the capsule to the edge of space at nearly twice the speed of sound before detaching, allowing the crew a few minutes of weightlessness. During that time, the capsule crossed the Karman Line, the boundary between Earth's atmosphere and outer space. It then returned to Earth, with parachutes deploying as the crew reacted audibly. Just 11 minutes after launch, the New Shepard capsule landed within driving distance of the launch site, where Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos was present to welcome the crew. Blue Origin has promoted the all-female mission as a milestone in spaceflight history, though reactions outside the company have been more divided.
