Tributes pour in for ‘murdered' Scots mum who was found seriously injured as man arrested
Dr Fortune Gomo, 39, was found seriously injured on Saturday afternoon and was treated at the scene but later died.

A post-mortem has taken place and her death is now being treated as murder.
A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with her death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
He is due to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court on Monday, 7 July 2025.
Fortune worked for Scottish Water, after graduating with a PhD in Geography and Environmental Science from Dundee University.
A spokesman said: 'This has been a truly shocking event in our city and for our university community.
'It will be particularly distressing for those who knew and worked with Fortune throughout her time as a PhD student and postdoctoral research assistant in Geography, and for all of those in our close-knit community of African colleagues and students.
'Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this tragic time.'
A large crowd gathered on South Road on Saturday night and a protest was held in the city centre on Sunday.
Police attended and said the march went ahead 'without incident'.
A 61-year-old woman, who has lived in the area for more than 50 years, said she was 'devastated' to hear about the woman's passing.
She said: 'The first we really knew about it was the police taping the street off - I thought someone had been hit by a car.
'I came home around 11pm and could see there was still an extensive police presence. It was upsetting to see what was going.

'I woke up around 2am and looked out and saw things being placed into evidence bags.
'It's devastating to hear the woman died.'
Detective Superintendent Peter Sharp, the officer in charge of the inquiry, said:
'Firstly, my thoughts remain with Fortune's family at this incredibly sad time.
"They are being supported by specialist officers and I would ask that their privacy is respected.
'Our enquiries are continuing and I remain satisfied that the incident poses no wider risk to the public.
"At this early stage of the investigation we are following a number of lines of inquiry.
"I am also acutely aware of content circulating on social media and urge the public not to speculate about the circumstances of the incident.
'The public will notice a visibly increased police presence in the area and I would encourage anyone who has any concerns to speak with our officers.
'I continue to appeal for anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the incident or has information that may assist us to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 2283 of 5 July 2025. Information can also be given to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.'

Tributes have been paid to an 'exceptional' scientist who died after an alleged street attack in Dundee at the weekend. Fortune Gomo, 39, died as a result of serious injuries at the scene near her home at around 4.30pm on Saturday afternoon, despite attempts to save her. Professor Simon Parsons, director of environment planning and assurance at Scottish Water, said: 'Everyone at Scottish Water, where Dr Fortune Gomo worked, is shocked and saddened by her death and we send our deepest sympathies to her family and friends. 'Fortune was an exceptional scientist and a senior service planner in our Water Resources Planning section based in Dundee where, having joined us in February, she had already become a highly valued and respected member of our team. 'We are supporting her colleagues at Scottish Water following this incident.'

Five people deny murder of woman shot dead in Wales
Five people have pleaded not guilty to murdering a woman who was shot dead in South Wales. Joanne Penney, 40, was pronounced dead after suffering fatal injuries at an address in Talbot Green on March 9. On Monday, seven people appeared before Cardiff Crown Court to deny charges in connection with her death. Joshua Gordon, 27, Marcus Huntley, 20, Jordan Mills-Smith, 33, Kristina Ginova, 21, and Tony Porter, 68, all pleaded not guilty to murder. Gordon, of Oadby, Leicestershire, and Huntley, from St Mellons, Cardiff, also denied participating in the activities of an organised crime group between March 11 2024 and March 11 this year. Mills-Smith, from Pentwyn, Cardiff, Ginova, from Oadby, Leicestershire, and Porter, from Braunstone Town, Leicestershire, pleaded not guilty to the same charge. Sai Raj Manne, 25, of no fixed address, and Molly Cooper, 33, from Leicester, also denied participating in the activities of an organised crime group. Manne pleaded not guilty to possessing, purchasing or acquiring a firearm, namely an 8mm calibre self-loading pistol modified to enable the discharge of ammunition without legal authority. Cooper denied possessing, purchasing or acquiring ammunition, namely 16 live 8mm calibre blank pistol cartridges reloaded with improvised projectiles, without having a firearms certificate. An eighth defendant, Melissa Quailey-Dashper, 39, from Leicester, is also charged with Ms Penney's murder but did not attend court on Monday. Judge Tracey Lloyd-Clarke, the Recorder of Cardiff, heard that a nine-week trial is due to begin on October 20 this year. She remanded the defendants in custody ahead of the next hearing in the case. An inquest into Ms Penney's death which opened in March was told she died after being shot in the chest at an address in Llys Illtyd, in Talbot Green, causing injuries to her heart and lung. Emergency services found Ms Penney with serious injuries and she was pronounced dead. In a tribute issued after her death, Ms Penney's family said: 'We are devastated by the tragic loss of our beloved Joanne. She was a daughter, mother, sister and niece – loved deeply by all who knew her. 'Her kindness, strength and love for her family will never be forgotten.'

Dr Fortune Gomo: Tributes to scientist as man appears in court charged with murder

Dr Fortune Gomo, 39, was treated by paramedics but was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency crews were called to the city's South Road at about 4.25pm on Saturday. Police Scotland announced a murder investigation was taking place following a post-mortem examination. Kyler Rattray, 20, was arrested and charged in connection with the case and appeared before Dundee Sheriff Court on Monday. The suspect made no plea to the single charge of murder. Rattray was remanded in custody and is due back in the dock within the next eight days. Dr Gomo was originally from Zimbabwe but lived locally, was a graduate of the University of Dundee, and worked for Scottish Water. Detective Superintendent Peter Sharp said Dr Gomo's family were being supported by specialist officers as he urged all those with information to come forward.
