'I tried expensive creams to treat bacne, nothing worked until this £17 Amazon cleanser'

The new cleanser from Cetaphil is mild yet effective enough to renew the skin and remove impurities from blocked pores and it took me two weeks to see results Acne is often considered a teenage woe but in my adult years, I have come to realise that spots appear for various reasons but some just won't go away, particularly those at the back (or as we call them ' bacne '). I have tried ointments and blemish creams formulated for the face and they never cleared the spots. It made me feel very self-conscious and every summer I had to stay away from wearing backless tops and low-cut dresses - but my dermatologist found me an affordable over-the-counter cleanser and good news: it's 20% off on Amazon. Breakouts on the back are common, and when the weather gets hot, sweat and heat are the culprits - blocking the pores and causing the build-up of oil, dirt, and dead skin cells. Holly Mason, founder of The Skin Investment Clinic, told me it's best to treat with basics, and she recommended I use Cetaphil's Gentle Exfoliating Salicylic Acid Cleanser. Beauty therapist hails Medik8's hyaluronic acid serum 'unbelievable' for anti-ageing Beauty fans wowed by award-winning brow serum that gives 'thicker' arches Specially formulated to improve skin tone and texture, the cleanser is suitable for acne-prone skin and also shoppers with Keratosis Pilaris (or more commonly known as strawberry legs or chicken skin). The three gentle acids - BHAs, PHAs and AHAs - are tailored for a gradual skin cell turnover as Holly explained to me: 'As the dead skin on the surface peels away, it helps push the impurities out of your skin and that will work to clear up any blocked pores. Over time, you will see fewer spots and calmer skin on your back.' Cetaphil Gentle Exfoliating SA Cleanser 473ml £22 £17.60 Amazon Buy Now on Amazon Product Description The Cetaphil Gentle Exfoliating SA Cleanser is available in two sizes and the bigger one, in 473ml, is on Amazon with a 20% discount so instead of £22, shoppers can get it at £17.60. The smaller version, in 236ml, is also marked down with 20% off and reduced from £14 to £11.20. I have been using the cleanser as a shower gel to treat the affected area and it lathered nicely without giving off any fragrance. It is kind to the skin and, most importantly, it does not irritate the spots. While clinical studies stated that the product 'improves skin radiance and appearance of pigmentation in seven days', I would say it takes me about two weeks to notice any improvement. The reduction in inflammation is the first sign of bacne healing, followed by redness and swelling. I tried to be disciplined and reminded myself not to touch the spots, and in 14 days, it healed, but I could find pigmentation marks on my back. Compared to ointments and creams, I found myself reaching for the Cetaphil cleanser much more often. There are other brands that offer solutions to bacne, including Paula's Choice's 2% BHA Body Spot Exfoliant. This moisturising exfoliant leaves skin hydrated, smooth, and soft while improving the appearance of hard, clogged pores on arms and legs. It is now reduced from £34 to £28.90. Holland and Barrett has stocked a Q+A Salicylic Acid Body Wash and it is available for £6.50. Suitable for vegans, the alcohol-free body wash has a watermelon and agave nectar scent. On the other hand, the Cetaphil cleanser is suitable for the face and body as the formula also retains moisture and hydrates skin. I stop finding new spots on my back and now all I have to do is to get rid of the marks.

Review: Take control of your aches and strains with Homedics NOVO+ Hot & Cold Massage Gun

Review: Take control of your aches and strains with Homedics NOVO+ Hot & Cold Massage Gun Treatment for your aching limbs - in the comfort of your own home Homedics NOVO+ Hot & Cold Massage Gun I'm a recent convert to percussion massagers after trying one for the first time a few months ago. ‌ I am very often instructed to give my wife a Friday night post-work neck massage, and I usually end up getting cramp in my fingers or falling asleep before she returns the favour. ‌ Owning a percussion massager changed the game really, allowing me deliver the Friday night duties without cramp, and in enough time to have the favour returned. ‌ I quickly learned how great they are, particularly for our neck and shoulders, but for me it helped me pre and post playing football every Monday night. So I was excited when I got my hands on the latest Novo+ massager from Homedics. This is a percussion gun that offers up the usual experience, but with a twist. That twist is hot and cold massage elements that can be used for targeted hot and cold therapy. Article continues below The benefit of this is that with the heat attachment you can warm up the muscles, and with the cold attachment you use it to soothe the muscles. Perfect for this middle-aged man still trying to play football despite his body screaming at him to stop. There are four heat settings from 39°C - 45°C and four cold settings from 14°C - 8°C. ‌ The attachment works via separate charging and is very quick to react to you selecting it. The rest of the attachments that come with the gun make sure you have a wide variety of treatments for all body parts. Whether it is the ball attachment for areas like the buttocks or things, or more concentrated massage on smaller areas like the feet with the bullet attachment. This is a really effective massage gun that houses an awful lot of power for such a small device. ‌ I use it a lot and I find it really effective and really rewarding, you don't have to rush the treatment either, a single charge via USB C cable gives you about an hour of treatment time. Easing the tension, soothing the muscles, or dulling the aches - this ticks all the boxes for me. The hot and cold element is a nice addition to the massage gun and takes it to the next level for home treatments from such a small home device. ‌ The Homedics NOVO+ Hot & Cold Massage Gun is available from Amazon for £79.99. What users say "I play racket sports and I also bowl, so my legs and arms take a bit of a hammering over an average week. But this gun has the power to sort out all the little niggles, aches and pains in minutes. I doubt I'll need to have a salon type sports massage in the near future as I can soothe and smooth my joints simply and easily at home now. ‌ "The higher settings are just far too intense for me. I felt like a piece of meat being tenderised by a large mallet. The hour-long battery life means you'll probably need to recharge it every few sessions if you use it frequently. Ruth Langsford says 'I feel doubly bad' as family worries are 'always in back of my mind'

EXCLUSIVE: Loose Women star Ruth Langsford has opened up about the guilt she feels while juggling her family responsibilities with an incredibly busy work schedule Ruth Langsford has admitted that her mum Joan's struggles with Alzheimer's disease are "always in the back of my mind". 94-year-old Joan lives in a care home, but Ruth, 65, handles all of her personal needs, including attending medical appointments with her mum, and facilitating any shopping requests. ‌ In an exclusive interview to discuss her collaboration with Amazon and UK charity Dementia Carers Count, who have partnered up to create an Alexa guide for carers, the Loose Women presenter said she frequently gets plagued with guilt if she ever forgets any of her responsibilities while looking after her beloved mum. ‌ Ruth explained: "It's always in the back of my mind. I mean, I am fortunate that her care home is literally around the corner from me, and I can see the roof of her care home through my bedroom window. ‌ "And I always know… I was on holiday recently, I know she's been well looked after, I don't worry. But she's always in the back of my mind anyway, with whatever I'm doing really. "I take her flowers every week, I pick flowers from the garden. If I'm out and I see something and I think, 'oh mum would like that,' or I'll get her that gardening magazine – she doesn't really read anymore, but she likes the pictures. "So when it's someone you love, they're always on your mind really, whatever you're doing, and that's a good thing, I like her to be on my mind." However, Ruth admitted that she feels an additional pressure to take care of her mum, as she is now her only daughter, after her sister, Julia, tragically died in 2019. She continued: "But it's the responsibility thing. I don't have my sister anymore, sadly, and so I feel that kind of... if I forget to make her dental appointment, I feel doubly bad than if I'd forgotten my own dental appointment, and I think, 'that's so bad, I'm such a bad daughter'." ‌ Fortunately, the ITV favourite has found that utilising her Amazon Alexa has made things easier, as the device and accompanying apps allow her to set audio and visual reminders for appointments, and also help her to stay organised with shopping lists. Ruth added: "You can put something in your diary, which I often do, but unless you look at the diary… I'll see it [too late], and then think, 'oh gosh, will I get back from work on time?' So to have that reminder and set reminders, I think would be very, very helpful." ‌ The mum-of-one, who shares son Jack with her estranged husband Eamonn Holmes, is very keen to raise awareness of the difficulties that unpaid carers face on a daily basis while looking after their loved ones. She shared: "When I read about this campaign I thought, any little thing that can help somebody who's a carer in any way, whether it makes life quicker, easier, whether they just feel more supported, whether they feel less alone – it can be very lonely – then it's a good thing. "The things that really stood out to me are being able to add things to the shopping list, the calendar, and the reminders, because I'm a very busy person and we know a lot of carers have jobs, maybe have children, and they have a parent or loved one who needs help, and it's a lot of plate spinning, and it's a lot of responsibility, and you forget things. "So if something pops into my head, I think, 'gosh, I must remember to book a dental appointment for my mum,' I can just say it out loud – 'Alexa, remind me to book a dentist appointment for mum, Alexa, please add shower gel and toothpaste to my shopping list for mum', and it's just done, and I know it's done. "And actually, with the shopping list, if you've got the app, the list is on your phone. So anything like that just makes life easier for somebody who's caring, and they say there's 700,000 people (unpaid, may I say) carers in the UK, and you have no training, it's just really difficult for people."
