"Everyone Is Hungry": PSG Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma Sends Major Warning To Club World Cup Opponents
Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma warned Wednesday that the newly crowned European champions were "hungry" for more success at the Club World Cup as they prepared to face Brazil's Botafogo. The French giants launched their Group B campaign in impressive style on Sunday, sweeping aside Atletico Madrid 4-0 at the Pasadena Rose Bowl. The victory marked a seamless entrance to the tournament for PSG, a little over two weeks after their 5-0 drubbing of Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League final. Italy's Donnarumma said the team were intently focused on winning a fifth piece of silverware this season after starting the tournament "the same way we finished" the Champions League. "The Club World Cup is a very important competition for us, we must continue to remain 100 percent focused to reach the final and the trophy," the goalkeeper told reporters ahead of Thursday's clash with Botafogo at the Rose Bowl. "Everyone is hungry for victories, to win titles; it's important for now and for next year," he added after training at the University of California. Spanish midfielder Fabian Ruiz said that PSG were comfortable with being tournament favourites. "It's positive if everyone is talking about us, isn't it?" he said. "For our game, what we're doing. But we don't feel that pressure, we don't think about that, but rather about the next match." PSG's opponents Botafogo reached the Club World Cup by winning the Copa Libertadores for the first time in 2024. The Brazilian side opened their campaign with a 2-1 win over the Seattle Sounders on Sunday. PSG's Portugal international striker Goncalo Ramos said Botafogo were an unknown quantity. "I know them a little, I know the coach, but I don't watch many of their matches because they play late. But they're a good team, it's different for us to play against a team from Brazil," Ramos said. After Thursday's game at the Rose Bowl, PSG will travel north to Seattle for their final group match against the Sounders on Monday.

Trump questions Juventus on women in men's team; players exchange awkward glances- Watch video
Screengrab During a White House visit on Wednesday, Juventus football players and staff found themselves in an awkward moment when US president Donald Trump turned their ceremonial visit into a political talking point. The Italian club, currently in Washington, DC, for the Club World Cup, was invited to the Oval Office ahead of their match against Al Ain of the UAE. With players, including US internationals Weston McKennie and Timothy Weah, standing behind him, Trump shifted from general remarks to controversial territory—transgender participation in women's sports. Turning to the team, Trump asked, 'Could a woman make your team, fellas?' The players stayed quiet, exchanging awkward glances. He repeated the question, this time directing it at Juventus General Manager Damien Comolli. Trying to steer clear of controversy, Comolli replied, 'We have a very good women's team,' referring to Juventus Women, the reigning Serie A champions. Trump pressed again: 'But they should be playing with women?' Comolli did not respond. 'See, they're very diplomatic,' Trump quipped. The incident comes hours after the US Supreme Court allowed Tennessee's ban on gender-affirming care for minors to stand—a ruling seen as a major blow to transgender rights. Trump has made restricting transgender participation in women's sports a key focus of his second-term agenda. In February, he signed an executive order titled 'Keeping Men Out of Women's Sports,' which has triggered policy changes at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and lawsuits in several states.

Juventus thump Al Ain in Club World Cup after Trump visit
Randal Kolo Muani and Francisco Conceicao both bagged braces as Juventus hammered Al Ain 5-0 on Wednesday in their Club World Cup opener in Washington. The Italian giants, who sent a delegation to visit US President Donald Trump at the White House earlier in the day, cruised to the top of Group G above Manchester City, who beat Wydad AC earlier on. Some Juventus players and staff were asked by Trump, whom they presented with a club shirt, whether they thought a woman would be able to make their first team. Trump was making a point against transgender athletes, but Juve general manager Damien Comolli replied that the club had a "very good women's team". The Juventus players stayed silent but were far more comfortable speaking on the pitch as they dismantled UAE's Al Ain at Audi Field. Kolo Muani, who extended his loan from Paris Saint-Germain to play in the tournament in the US, opened the scoring after 11 minutes with a towering header from Alberto Costa's cross. Igor Tudor's Juventus doubled the lead 10 minutes later when Conceicao, on loan from Porto, skipped away from one defender in the box before firing home with the help of a deflection. Turkish forward Kenan Yildiz netted the third after 31 minutes, carving out some space on the edge of the box and drilling in at the near post. French striker Kolo Muani grabbed his second with a deft finish in first-half stoppage time to pile on the misery for Al Ain. Kouame Autonne had a goal disallowed for offside for the UAE side before Conceicao struck again, benefitting from another slight deflection. Kolo Muani might have completed his hat-trick when sent through but goalkeeper Rui Patricio shut him down well, and Douglas Luiz blasted narrowly off-target late on. Juventus, who finished fourth in Serie A, are hoping to make up for a trophyless season with success in the United States this summer. rbs/pst JUVENTUS FOOTBALL CLUB
