'Malicious Intent': Govt Debunks Video Claiming Pakistan Forces Apprehended Indian Soldiers
PIB debunked a viral video claiming Indian soldiers were captured by Pakistan, stating it was an old video from June 2022 showing Pakistani civilians. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) on Monday fact-checked a viral video showing Indian soldiers being captured by Pakistan security forces. The video showed a few men in Army uniform shouting 'Pakistan zindabad" after they were released. PIB has debunked this video and said that pro-Pakistan accounts on social media are promoting such content with 'malicious intent." Originally, the circualated video is of Indian Army coming across Pakistani civillians during routine patrol. 'Some pro-Pakistan social media accounts are sharing a video that claims that the Pakistan border security forces apprehended a few Indian soldiers and released them after each shouted 'Pakistan Zindabad," PIB's X post reads. 'This is an old video from June 2022 of the Indian Army coming across Pakistani civilians along the border during a routine patrol. The sloganeering that can be heard in the video is by Pakistani civilians and not Indian soldiers. The video is deliberately circulated by Pakistani accounts with malicious intent," the post adds. PIB further clarified that no Indian soldier was apprehended by Pakistan. Earlier in May too, government debunked Pakistani military's claims in which they falsely accused some Indian news channels of admitting to the destruction of Indian airbases. During a press briefing, DG ISPR of Pakistan used a small, edited portion of a full video clip originally broadcast by Indian news channels. However, the actual footage clearly shows Indian news channels reporting on the destruction of a Pakistani airfield by Indian forces. Press Information Bureau (PIB) clarified and said that Pakistan is misleading its people by producing doctored footage as evidence. view comments First Published: August 11, 2025, 14:36 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. J&K: Operation Akhal Enters Day 11, Intermediate Firing Reported
As of August 11, 2025, Operation Akhal in the Akhal forests of Kulgam district has entered its 11th day. The operation, launched on August 1, 2025, by a joint team of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, and Special Operations Group (SOG), targets terrorists hiding in the dense Akhal forest area, based on specific intelligence inputs. One terrorist killing has been confirmed so far, identified as Haris Nazir Dar, a Pulwama resident affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba. Reports suggest three to four more may still be hiding in natural cave-like hideouts in dense forests. Two Indian Army soldiers, Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh, were killed, and a total of 11 security personnel have been injured since the operation began. The operation has seen intense firefights, with security forces using drones, helicopters, rocket launchers, and para commandos to maintain a tight cordon in the challenging terrain. Heavy exchanges of fire, including the use of UAVs, FPV drones, and light machine guns, have been reported, with an explosion noted at the site on previous days, but last night there was light and intermediate firing only seemed speculative fire from security forces. Residents have requested to be cautious, and authorities have also appointed nodal officers to assist them in case of an emergency. Operation Akhal is part of a broader counter-terrorism effort in Jammu and Kashmir, following other operations like Operation Mahadev and Operation Shivshakti, which killed 5 Pakistani terrorists. The operation remains ongoing, with security forces maintaining a strong perimeter and senior officials, including J&K Police chief Nalin Prabhat and Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, closely monitoring the situation.
