Jawan from Khammam dies while patrolling in Jammu and Kashmir
Army authorities reportedly informed the family about the incident on Monday.
Sepoy Anil of Maratha Light Infantry, while patrolling a border post, slipped and died on the spot on Monday, the officials said. They said the body of the 31-year-old soldier was taken to Uri sub district hospital for medico-legal formalities.
"Chinar Corps deeply regrets the loss of precious life of Braveheart Sepoy Banoth Anil Kumar, while performing operational duty along the Line of Control in Baramulla district," Srinagar-based Chinar Corps posted on its 'X' handle.

Anil Kumar's grandfather Banoth Dalchand told TOI on Tuesday that Anil Kumar returned to his posting in J&K a month ago after spending time with his family at their village, Suryathanda, in Karepalli mandal. The jawan has a seven-month-old son. Anil Kumar had joined the Army when he was 18 years old. "He had two more years service. We were informed about his death by the army authorities on Monday," he said. The authorities first called up Anil Kumar's wife, Renuka, and took Anil Kumar's elder brother's contact number from her and conveyed the news to him.
After his Intermediate, Anil Kumar, who was keen on serving in the armed forces, joined the Army in 2012. The family was informed that the body would reach their native place on Wednesday for the final rites.

The Army foiled an infiltration bid on Wednesday in Uri sector along the Line of Control in Baramulla district in which an Army man, havaldar Ankit Kumar , was killed. The incident took place in Churanda area of Uri in an operation which continued for several hours. J&K: Soldier killed in Uri as Army foils LoC infiltration bid; Chinar Corps expressed 'deepest condolences'
SRINAGAR: Havildar Ankit Kumar of 9 Bihar Regiment was killed early Wednesday while fighting armed intruders near the Loc in Uri sector of north Kashmir's Baramulla district — the third Army fatality in five days in counterterrorism operations, raising the year's security death toll in J&K to 17. Sources said the infiltration bid was foiled, but the intruders exploited poor visibility and monsoon rain to retreat into PoK. It was the first such attempt in Uri since Operation Sindoor in early May when heavy Pakistani firing and shelling followed India's destruction of terrorist infrastructure in PoK and Pakistan after the April 22 Pahalgam massacre that left 22 people dead, most of them tourists. 'This is clear proof that old patterns of infiltration attempts backed by Pakistan will persist,' said Luv Puri, former UN counterterrorism official and Kashmir analyst. 'In the current climate where renewed US-Pakistan engagement is being discussed, the purpose of the infiltration attempt seems to be to signal that nothing has changed and that shifting geopolitical winds may only have emboldened them to make this point. ' The Uri clash came a day after the Army ended an 11-day offensive in south Kashmir's Kulgam district, where two soldiers — Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh of 19 Rashtriya Rifles — were killed and 10 personnel wounded before a terrorist was shot dead. Of the 17 security personnel killed in J&K operations this year, four have died in Kashmir and 13 in Jammu division. 12.3L gold stolen, woman files theft plaint against caregiver
1 2 Kolkata: A woman living on Shimla Street lodged a complaint at the Girish Park PS against her child's caregiver, accusing her of stealing gold ornaments, worth Rs 12.3 lakh, from her home. Priyanka Paul hired Susmita Saha through a certified agency in Sept 2024. On Aug 6, when Paul was getting ready for a ceremony, she asked Saha to take out her jewellery from the cupboard, but Saha declined. On checking, Paul discovered several ornaments, including bangles, gold earrings, rings and chains, missing. Confronted, Saha reportedly made excuses and left, said police.
