Pet dog attacks & bites cab driver, FIR registered

Gurgaon: Police on Monday registered an FIR against the owner of a pet dog, two weeks after the canine attacked and bit a cab driver in Sector 29. Anil Kumar (52), who belongs to Jhajjar and lives in Gurgaon's Om Nagar, said he sustained multiple bite wounds to his arms, hands, knees and legs. The incident was reported on May 19, when Anil's colleague – another driver who works for the same private company – called him up early in the morning and sought help to fix a cab that had broken down near Leisure Valley in the sector. Anil said he went to the area and started walking around to look for a mechanic. When he reached Greenzilla café, a pitbull charged at him, Anil told police. "Near the café, I saw a man with tethered goals and a dog, which was not on leash. The dog attacked me unprovoked. I protected my face with my hands. Then bystanders rescued me by driving away the dog with sticks," Anil said. The cab driver told TOI he went to Civil Hospital in Sector 10 for treatment and was redirected to Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital for specific medication. "I've received three injections, with one remaining. The first at Safdarjung Hospital, followed by two in Jhajjar," Anil said. Police said an FIR was registered against the unidentified owner of the dog under Section 291 (negligent or rash conduct involving animals that could endanger human life or cause serious injury) of BNS. Head constable Sunil Kumar of DLF police station said cops are trying to ascertain the dog's owner. As conflicts between pet owners and those scared of dogs have grown in cities over the years, some residents have demanded a ban on few dog Nov 2022, a consumer forum in Gurgaon had cited "internet information" and directed authorities in Gurgaon to ensure the ban on 11 dog breeds, including pitbulls, is enforced. But the order was challenged before the Punjab and Haryana high court, and subsequently chief medical officer Dr Ashish Singla on Wednesday confirmed there are no restrictions on dog breeds that can be kept as pets. "The Animal Welfare Board of India confirmed us that no breeds are banned from being kept as pets," Dr Singla said. Veterinarian doctors say none of the dog breeds are inherently dangerous or aggressive. Instead, it is how pet owners keep them that can affect canine behaviour.

PU heritage buildings develop cracks after metro tunneling, officials promise repair

Patna: Several heritage buildings of 108-year-old Patna University (PU), including the recently renovated historic Wheeler Senate House (renamed Jayaprakash Narayan Anushad Bhawan), have developed some prominent cracks because of the ongoing underground metro rail tunneling on city's Ashok Raj Path. Following a complaint by the university, the metro rail project officials have inspected the cracks in the buildings, also including the administrative block of Patna Science College and geography department of 162-year-old Patna College located on Ashok Raj Path. These buildings had developed cracks during the construction of an underground tunnel for the metro rail project about three months ago. The metro project officials have observed that during the construction process, the use of tunnel boring machines can cause vibrations and disturb the ground, leading to cracks in nearby structures. They assured the PU authorities of getting all the cracks and damages in the buildings repaired soon, said PU dean of students' welfare and information officer, Anil Kumar. "A portion of the PU vocational courses building located on Patna Science College campus was also demolished due to the ongoing metro construction work, but it has been repaired now. Institute of Psychological Research and Services (IPRS), presently located at Krishna Kunj, will also be temporarily shifted to the repaired vocational courses building. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 거북목 8년차가 후회하는 딱 3가지.. 50대개발자일기 더 알아보기 Undo The existing IPRS building will be demolished soon so that a new science block (G+8 structure) can be constructed on the site," he said. It was Jayaprakash Narayan who had brought the situation under control and pacified the agitated people. It was in this hall, where the representatives of students' unions of all universities, at a convention organised by the Patna University Students' Union in 1973, adopted a resolution for launching a statewide agitation against the misrule of the then govt. Bengaluru auto driver celebrates birthday with machete-cut cartridge cake, lands in soup: Report

An autorickshaw driver's dramatic birthday celebration in Bengaluru landed him in trouble with the law after a video of him cutting a cartridge-shaped cake with a machete went viral. The incident took place on the night of May 31 in Gudibande of Chikkaballapur in the outskirts of the city, when Anil Kumar, a resident of Vychukurahalli, was celebrating with friends, family, and colleagues, reported The Times of India. Also Read - 'I cried on Google Meet': Bengaluru techie quits job after public shaming and gaslighting According to the report, the festivities were like any other birthday party—until the cake-cutting moment. Instead of a standard cake and knife, Kumar pulled out a machete and sliced into a cake designed to resemble a bullet cartridge, drawing cheers and applause from the guests. The celebration continued with a cocktail party, and Kumar later took the machete home. However, the viral video caught the attention of the Gudibande police, who acted swiftly after someone forwarded them the clip. 'Upon receiving the footage, we booked Anil Kumar under Section 126 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS),' said Chikkaballapur Superintendent of Police Kushal Choukesy to TOI. Kumar, who reportedly has no prior criminal record, was arrested on Monday and produced before a court, where he was fined ₹1,000. Kumar is expected to appear before the tahsildar on Tuesday, where he will be required to sign a security bond ensuring he will not repeat such behavior or engage in any activity considered antisocial. 'When an executive magistrate has reason to believe that an individual may disturb public peace, a show-cause notice can be issued, asking why they should not be bound to maintain peace for up to one year,' Choukesy told the publication. This isn't the first time Karnataka police have cracked down on over-the-top birthday celebrations involving weapons. A few years ago, Bengaluru's Girinagar police issued a similar notice to Kannada actor 'Duniya' Vijay after he was seen in a viral video cutting a cake with a sword during his birthday celebrations, which also led to a case for obstructing traffic.

'Josh over hosh': Bengaluru man booked after viral video shows him cutting cake with machete

Bengaluru man booked for cutting birthday cake with machete BENGALURU: When 'josh' (fervour) got the better of 'hosh' (common sense), or so one thought. It was a birthday celebration like any other — complete with cake-cutting. Except that the cake wasn't like any other. It was shaped like a cartridge and what was used to cut it wasn't the average knife, but a machete. Result: The 'birthday boy' — in this case an autorickshaw driver named Anil Kumar — was arrested and produced in court. Police said he admitted having "acted in josh". As video clips of the cake-cutting were passed around, someone forwarded those to the jurisdictional cops at Gudibande police station in Chikkaballapur, prompting the law-keepers to sit up, take note and crack down on Kumar, a resident of Vychukurahalli. The birthday party was held on the night of May 31 at Gudibande, and Kumar was arrested Monday. Surrounded by friends, colleagues and relatives, Kumar, who had no criminal record, pulled out the machete and cut the cake, even as the guests clapped. This was followed by a cocktail party. Later, Kumar took the machete home. "Immediately after receiving the video, we booked Kumar under Section 126 of Bharatiya Nyaya Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and produced him in court, where he was fined Rs 1,000. He will be produced before the tahsildar Tuesday, where he will have to execute a security bond, promising he will never repeat such an act or indulge in any anti-social activity," Kushal Choukesy, superintendent of police, Chikkaballapur, told TOI. What is BNSS Section 126? When an executive magistrate receives information that a person is likely to commit a breach of law, the person concerned may be slapped with a show-cause notice as to why he or she should not be ordered to execute a bond or bail bond to maintain peace for a period not exceeding one year, or as the magistrate deems fit.
