Sophie Cunningham Had Warning For Fans Throwing Things On WNBA Court
For the second time in just a few days, someone had the bright idea to fling a green dildo onto a WNBA court.
The incident occurred during last night's game between the Chicago Sky and the Golden State Valkyries at Wintrust Arena. Play had to be stopped so that officials and arena staff could properly dispose of it.
But while the WNBA and its teams have obviously done what they can to stop this from happening, they might not be able to convince as many people as Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham can.
Taking to X after the latest incident, Cunningham admonished the act of throwing dildos onto the court. She warned that a player could eventually get hurt, presumably by either getting hit or from tripping over it.
"Stop throwing dildos on the court… you're going to hurt one of us," she wrote.
But if you know fans, they're going to become determined to do the opposite of what the authority figure asks them. The responses alone are a pretty good indicator that people are not going to take Cunningham's request seriously:
"Sorry, but you should embrace the trend. I mean, I would never have thought of going to WNBA game or was even aware that women played basketball in the first place. But the dildo on the court thing, I may even bring the kids to game now, sound hilarious," one user responded on X.
"Imagine how funny it would be if it becomes a trend," wrote another.
"This may actually help with viewership! Betting odds on how many dildos hit the floor per game. I would watch this!" a third wrote.
"They're gonna start selling them outside the stadium like the bootleg merch and alcohol vendors."
"Throwing sex toys is protected by the first amendment. If you hate America and the constitution, I recommend leaving."
Suffice it to say, people online aren't taking this seriously.
For the safety of the players, maybe it's for the best that those same people commenting probably aren't going to WNBA games in the first place.
Will this become a trend across the WNBA?Sophie Cunningham Had Warning For Fans Throwing Things On WNBA Court first appeared on The Spun on Aug 2, 2025

Steelers vs Jaguars: 4 storylines in this week's preseason game
After what has been one of the wildest offseasons ever for the Pittsburgh Steelers, it is almost time to finally kick off the preseason schedule. This Saturday, the Steelers will take on the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road, and here are the storylines to keep an eye on. Is the defense really this good? At the midway point of training camp, the defense has dominated the offense at practice. We expected that unit to have an edge but it's been really one-sided. This week, we will get to see the defense in live action against a Jaguars offense full of talent so we will get a better idea of just how good this group can be. Is the offense really this bad? On the flipside of the first storyline, how rough is the offense going to look? This group has been outclassed throughout training camp and it looks like all these new players in new places are struggling to gel. How much Aaron Rodgers? Head coach Mike Tomlin rarely has his starting quarterback play much in the first preseason game but it feels like Aaron Rodgers in an exception this year given how late he joined the team. Lots of rookies to watch The Steelers rookies should be on full display on Saturday night. Defensive tackle Derrick Harmon and running back Kaleb Johnson won't see heavy work since their spots are locked in but we want to see edge defense Jack Sawyer, defensive tackle Yahya Black and quarterback Will Howard ball out. This is in addition to undrafted rookies Roc Taylor and Sebastian Castro. This article originally appeared on Steelers Wire: Steelers vs Jaguars: 4 storylines in this week's preseason game

Sports analyst rips Bronny James for no-showing Luka Dončić's Lakers press conference
Sports analyst rips Bronny James for no-showing Luka Dončić's Lakers press conference originally appeared on The Sporting News Luka Dončić wasted no time in extending his deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. The two sides agreed to a three-year, $165 million contract extension on Aug. 2, the first day he was eligible to sign a new deal. While most of his teammates were present for his press conference and a trip to Las Vegas to attend a Backstreet Boys later in the day, LeBron James and Bronny James were among those noticeably absent. Dan Patrick believes that the four-time MVP deserves a pass for not showing up, however, he took aim at the second-year guard's decision to not join his teammates. "The one person who I thought should've been there was his son," Dan Patrick stated Monday. "Bronny James, if he wants to stay longer after LeBron leaves, that's your teammate. That's what was surprising. Bronny James should've been there. You're the last guy on the roster, you should be there. Show support." Follow The Sporting News on WhatsApp "It just felt like, 'Hey, my dad's LeBron, we got a vacation'," Patrick continued. "I mean, that's where you say, 'Dad, that's my team, that's my teammate'. And if LeBron doesn't want to be there -- it just feels like there's a game going on." Despite speculation that James could leave Los Angeles, Patrick speculated that he has no plans to join a new team. While the NBA's all-time leading scorer has certainly earned the right to enjoy his summer vacation, it is not difficult to agree with the assessment that his son should be looking to build camaraderie with his teammates. After all, the Lakers are clearly Dončić's team now as James may only have one or two years left in his illustrious career. The younger James should be looking for any opportunity to step out of his father's footsteps and build his own relationship with the remainder of the roster -- particularly the Lakers' newest franchise star. Heung-min Son rubber-stamps LAFC move as Tottenham agree deal for young striker
Heung-min Son is due in Los Angeles on Tuesday to complete his move to LAFC. Tottenham will receive a fee of around £15million for Son, who is set to sign a two-year contract with the MLS side. Son confirmed last week that he is leaving Spurs after a decade at the club in which he scored 173 goals in 454 games. The 33-year-old was then given an emotional send-off in what was his final appearance for Spurs on Sunday, as they drew 1-1 with Newcastle in a friendly in his native South Korea. 'This is the time to say goodbye to everyone," a tearful Son said after the match. 'Spurs will always be in my heart. I will cheer them on as a family member.' Son is set to be unveiled at LAFC this week. New Spurs signing Joao Palhinha is set to train with the Spurs squad this week after completing his loan move from Bayern Munich. Spurs are assessing James Maddison's knee injury and have announced young striker Will Lankshear has joined Championship side Oxford United on loan. Lankshear made six appearance for Spurs last season before spending the second half of the season on loan at West Brom. 'This is a really exciting opportunity for me to be joining a great club,' said Lankshear. 'I learned so much last season in the first team at Tottenham and West Brom and I'm ready to now kick on with Oxford United. 'I feel like this is the right place for me to be. I love nothing more than scoring goals. I want to do my best to bring as many as I can this season.'
